One word for MP - 'Hoddle'. Great at Saints, Spurs legend, went there and was out the door in no time at all. Is that what you want?

I love the bit about lallana and others trying to teach him the national anthem!

Shilton Dodd Bale Killer Lovren Case Ox Lallana MLT Keegan Shearer

How old was Sir Rickie when we signed him?
-
Signed. We have got to prevent football club ownership being a matter of luck. We got lucky, many other clubs haven't.

Worth alos quoting this from later in the article: 10.Torquay was the seaside town where Fawlty Towers was based – but even Basil never let his roof fall in on a football team. The Gulls players were staying in Portsmouth when they got dragged out of bed by a 1.45 fire alarm because the hotel roof had collapsed and rain was flooding in – it was more than three hours later before they got booked into alternative accommodation. They still found the energy to make sure Billy Bodin’s strike was the only goal of the game at Fratton Park. That Mail writer must be a Saints fan!

That pass to Jay Rod came out of the MLT text book. Wonderful.

Just joking:lol:

Sad news to report that Ray Murcell, who collected just about the biggest collection of Saints memorabilia and was for many years a Saints Season Ticket Holder and regular face outside of the ground died last weekend aged 78 . Ray was a very modest and unassuming fan and will be missed by his family and friends.

Apart from the Northam version, which do the forum think is the best version of WTSGMI? I'm looking on Amazon for versions and there's about a thousand to choose from. I quite like the Jerry lee lewis version.

I think we agree Turkish, but wonder what might have been if he didn't have a year of Police investigations to deal with. I think the gardening leave was a sensitive solution given the case was dragging on. You're right that Hoddle was a better manager though in his short time with us.

Dave Jones kept struggling Southampton in the premiership in the Dell days when there wasn't anything like as much money flowing from TV (with a lot of help from MLT). In those days survival was success for us and he was doing OK until those dreadful allegations of child abuse became a distraction - and who wouldn't be distracted. Remember that the case had been dragging on for over a year and he'd been managing the side throughout before he was given gardening leave. He might have been inexpressive but in a droll scouser way. I wish him well.

Saints will get 'development fee' if bale is sold
andymcrowe replied to Batman's topic in The Saints
Bale may have been a steal for Spurs (as was Shearer, also with no sell on fee), but there's plenty of ex Saints who didn't live up to their fee who we sold at the right time. James Beattie for example... -
shouldn't that be 'English Giants Southampton from Scottish club Celtic'...

This unimaginative, unexciting squad will struggle at the World Cup. Let's be grateful that Lambert will be able to devote the remainder of his career to Saints.

It is - sorry I took so long to tell you! There is a very good book 'Napoleon on St Helena' by Julia Blackburn which tells all about it.

Do you happen to know of any in the building trade? We need to develop several hundred homes and have a labour shortage.
