But not many better ones this season
-
It is obvious we do not have the players to stay in the PL
-
They also have the best home produced players of any county club which is hardly surprising as they have so many top class club sides
-
Me too but only once as he was sold to Bournemouth and replaced with George Kirby such a gentleman off the pitch but quite the opposite on it I remember one time against Swansea George injured three players in quick succession and there was no one available to attend the third
-
Like the country SFC is fucked with the players we have there seems little chance of the club surviving long term in the PL due to awful transfer policy of the last few years. Not sure about the Academy either but with clubs like Chelsea hovering up talent here in Berkshire and in North Hampshire now what does it have of attracting top class talent
-
Yes I have been quite lucky to see some really good players Paul Rideout Colin Clarke Eigil Ostenstaad were other strikers who I feel were much better than any we have today
-
You must be joking you have no idea we have Archer and BBD as strikers I can assure your we have never had such poor ones in the last sixty years. Unlike you I have been very lucky to see good Saints Strikers like Ron Davies Martin Chivers Micky Channon Peter Osgood Phil Boyer Ted McDougal Steve Moran Keegan Alan Shearer Worthington Danny Wallace MLT Beattie Pharas and probably Lambert Mane Pelle I wont bore you with a list of creative players but I saw two world cup winning players Paine and Ball in Saints teams too
-
Do you not undertand the players are crap especially the forwards who have not scored one goal in six games and have not even played Liverpool Arsenal Man City or Chelsea. It is not fight we need but players with skill who can compete in the PL. Our recruitment has been poor for years and our squad is the worst we have had in the top flight since we were promoted to Div 1 in 1966 and I have seen them all.

Pretty stupid comment really getting a result with so much bad weather in the Midlands recently was a great outcome
-
No that is not going to happen
-
Pretty poor PL team in all honesty but probably the best we have
-
Must be one of the worst Saints squads I have ever seen play in the PL or Div 1
-
Why does he have to leave if the players are not good enough the squad is probably worse than the one in 2023 I fully expect the club to be relegated as we have no outstanding players
-
Why the obsession with getting rid of the manager it is clear the squad is not good enough for the PL just look at the other teams in the league they have better players. Need a few years in the Championship to regroup me thinks
-
I agree with what you are saying but Stephens, Smallbone, Armstrong and Aribo are OK as squad players at the moment the problem has been recruitment for the last four or five years
-
I have been watching Saints since 1962 and I can assure you it it is not a decent PL line up the front six are so inexperienced it is unsurprising that they have have scored zero goals
-
I thought Boycott was in the waiting room on the way to his grave Nasty little man
-
Yes I agree with what you are saying but will reserve judgement on Hull for later
-
I went to the Oval yesterday for the test match the first time for over twenty years. Awful experince beer £8 a pint toilets disgusting England tactics bewildering with six slips and gullies letting Sri Lanki score at five an over when bowling and giving Sri Lanka catching practice when batting. If that is Bazball they can forget my patronage I will stick with County Championship cricket

I saw this while looking on the internet Southampton's club history is marked by notable league and financial recovery. Key signings like James Beattie, Kevin Keegan, Dusan Tadic, and Virgil Van Dijk were pivotal. Players like Rickie Lambert, Sadio Mane and Claus Lundekvam, had important careers at Southampton. Southampton have had a notable spell in and around the upper reaches of the English football pyramid in recent decades, and their club heritage is steeped in Football League and FA Cup appearances that have made them a recognisable institute of the game on the south coast. In fact, alongside being the FA Cup holders of 1976, since first winning promotion to the old Division One 10 years prior to that honour, the Saints have spent just 11 seasons outside of the top flight. But those days as over and now we have so many inexperienced and average players compared with the ones I watched between 1962 and 2020 and I really feel sorry for the ones who regularly watch the Saints today as I saw some really topclass players
-
Yes but both Nathan managed a team of better PL Players probably I just feel the current squad just cannot hack it in the PL at the present time A strike force of AA DIAS and ARCHER does nit suggest to me that they will score many goals in the PL
-
We are in the PL with only twp decent PL players although a few may develop into decent PL intime so what changes do you suggest should be made as we meet stronger teams, Like most teams which gain promotion through the playoffs we are likely to be relegated.

I hope Brown stays he has done well when I have seen him. I feel Weatherly is now surplus to requirements as Middleton 65 not out ,Prest Orr and Albert are sufficiently good batsmen for next season. The bowling for next seaon is key as the loss of Barker has shown that we need a top class third seamer. Against Essex Turner who is an attacking bowler could not slow the run rate that Abbott Abbasand Barker have done so well recently. PS I do not really care much about white ball cricket it is over 50 years since we won the County Championship and exactly 50 years that we were robbed of it due to the weather especiall as we thrashed the winners Worsterhire at Portsmouth earlier in the season
-
Perhaps if he had Mane and MLT instead of Armstrong and BBD you would not be so critical I feel sorry for him trying to win in the PL with his current squad
