For once, just once, please can we have the new manager affect at MK on Weds as I am going.
-
I find the signing encouraging but i am not over excited. He has never played in the top flight, despite signing for Fiorentina, he never played for them. Worryingly had a terrible time with injuries while there. Hmmmmm The rest of his career is spent at 2nd, 3rd and 4th tier of Italian football and 3rd tier of Brazilian football. I'd like to think he will be a good signing for us, but just because he has come from Serie A and is Brazilian does not mean he will be better than sliced ciabata. Yes I know we are in the third tier of football so lets hope he fits right in.

Statistics are funny old things and can prove almost whatever you want. Another interesting stat is how close to capacity teams are running at. We are running at 57% Leeds at 59% Norwich at 91% Charlton at 66% Palace who were relegated from prem with us are running at 60% Newcastle 75% Pompey at 85% There are 11 teams in L1 that do not even half fill their grounds!! Tranmere dont even reach 1/3rd full!!!! I remember a thread on here where people were predicting attendances for L1 and i dont think many were predicting more than 17000 most were on 10-15000 Considering our position and the actual performances on the pitch and no league wins I think 17000+ crowd is good. I cant imagine Cortese and Co budgetting for many more than that this year on average.

We ar not that far off the following either Ave att: Wigan 17300 Portsm 17600 Burnley 20200 Brum 20800 Bolton 22400 So thats all pretty good really
-
Not sure, he may be thinking "Jaidi is only 2 years younger than me I can do this" He may also be thinking "Christ i hope we play deep if i am partnering Jaidi"
-
Thats not really the point. The point is about when competition for places is increased all professionals should raise their game accordingly rather than shy away from the competition and just collect their wages at the end of the week.

Pompey averaging 17500 hosting Fulham and Man C in Prem this season. We average 19500 also for 2 games ............. sounds good to me

Is it possible to make this post a sticky (no pun intended)
-
We bought Joe Jordan from Verona for i think £900,000

Badger is a c^nt of the highest order. As you say the talk of message board posting ambition was solely to attract attention. The move to post the above just shows him up as the attention seeker he really is. He pposted out of his skin to obtain attention and once obtained was quite indifferent about it. Good riddance to both him and Spasiak. Btw i have no idea what a c^nt is - i am guessing its a typo or a term for a Polish International striker.....

So just in this one thread we have had lies, damn lies, sexism, racism, sizeism, beardism, golfism, anti americanism, anti muslemism... yes that is a word lol What a lovely bunch of people we have in here. Having said that it has given me a good laugh. I mean the bottom line is, if the bearded guy wants to make a mamary gland of himself shouting what he feels is pertinent then let him. Everyone pays their admission so is entitled to an opinion, however wide of the mark you believe it to be.

Well said. There is too much point scoring, snide back handed remarks on this board. Thanks for saying what alot of people are thinking.

You are being sarcastic right? Sorry but sarcasm often gets lost over the net. Delap and his long throws were, in my opinion, totally ineffectual for US.

Love the Kasabian soundtrack on that clip. The French one aint bad either lmao

1) Have the England goalkeeper between the posts. First of all will he still be at pompey for the start of the season? Secondly these days saying you have englands number 1 isnt all its cracked up to be. Back in the 80's and before it would truely have been something to shout about with the likes of clemence and shilton were between the posts. 2) Experienced defenders like Distin and Herman Yeah true but again will they be there at the end of the transfer window? 3) The superb Younis Attracting interest from spurs i believe 4) Good young players like Ritchie and Wilson breaking into the team Cant comment, never heard of them. I hope they are as good as you say as you will need them. 5) the magician Kranjcar Rabbits and hats. Has been touted - i predict a move to europe is on the cards here. 6) Piquionne-did you see his goals lol no i didnt. Will reserve judgement until Christmas and we can look at his goal haul then if we may. 7) premier status yep cant argue with that. Thats a fact. For one more season anyway. premier income Well it seems Mr Gaydamak is taking his fair share of that before the club sees it. So how much of that you will see and how much will be used to strengthen a depleted squad is up to question. 9) just beaten the scottish champions 2-0 Yeah another Fact but Scottish champions are only the equivalent of a mid table Prem side. 10) Matin Crainie England u-21 player Cant disagree with you there - another quite bizare fact. However, this does offer an opportunity for you to raise some cash for your club. Sell your house, put the cash on a 5 year bet that Craine will not make it to the full england squad. Another good bet could be that Pompey will be relegated with an all time low pts total. I know thats really gotta be quite special to beat Derbys and Boro's recent displays but hey. Surely worth a fiver........

I just heard an interview on Talk Sport with Sven. they were talking about why hasnt he signed any top notch players and is he having a problem bringing players to Div2. I was suprised by his answer when he said League 2 clubs are contrained by a rule that says they can only spend 60% of turn over on players wages so it is impossible to bring in Ex Prem players unless they take a massive deduction in salary. So i guess the same or similar thing applies to US - there must be a cap on wage expenditure for Div 1 also - possibly more than 60%??? Maybe maybe not. But i wasnt aware of any cap at all until today. This may account for why we are not signing any "Big Names"
-
arrrrgghhhhhh i knew i remembered it from somewhere! Maybe we sign up Vinnie before end of August.
-
SSN Last week.
-
in one of AP's first interviews he said I HOPE TO HAVE NEW RECRUITS IN BY THE END OF AUGUST. Dont people listen? I am adding my FFS!

I would probably have gone with Hearts. Not an English side, not playing in English league so there would be no betrayal. Not one of the big two so would be guaranteed a certain amount of pain and anguish that i think i deserve. Good enough to qualify for europe occassionally, if shortlived. So yeah seems like a good option.

With all due respect i think you are a long way from the mark here. You build a team capable of doing the job in hand. We dont need or want premiership players. We need players who are proven at CCC and League 1 level, to do a job in league 1. cCos thats where we are. There is very little loyalty in football, any player that does well for us will be bought from us. Its a fact of life. So we do well we lose players or managers. How can you build for the top flight while in League 1 when the average life expectancy of a manager in league 1 is 1.25 years. New manager comes in - we get new players. Football these days is all short term, unless you are a top 6 premier league side, then you afford the luxury of looking beyond 1 year because you are ALMOST guaranteed a future in the top flight. You get promoted you then rebuild. Sucess has a cost as does failure.
-
I think you need considerably fewer than 9 defeats to be in top 2. I would have said 3-4-5 defeats max to finish top 2 then with -10pts that gives us a playoff spot just. Ofcourse we would be favourites to win that playoff because our form in the season would have been far superior to the others in the playoffs. Which again may not be a good thing.
-
Is there a rule that says you are only allowed 1 keeper? lol Obviously you would be short upfront or midfield..... But hell, i really do call that a football revolution if that was the case. That would be so funny to watch.
-
I looked at Pulis' stats on the official site yesterday. He's 25 years old. He's played 25 games in his career!! Half of which from subs bench. Thats poor. Thats worse then Steve Baker isnt it?
-
Bale, from what i remember was not a great defensive left back. Going forward yeah. Set pieces yeah(on and off) But as a defender...... not so sure. I think that was the original post about LeSaux being the best defensive left back and we have not had one as good since. Id probably agree with that.
