  1. Are you kidding? Surely every right-minded Saints fan must hate/loathe Manu and wish every game ends in utter humiliation apart from those against The Blue Few? I know I do.
  2. Cheers Trousers! Could you also text me the oppo team at about 3.05 as we ****heads start arguing who no. 35 is and end up annoying some random grandad who boght his prog at lunchtime ( and wants it back. Ba*tard!)
  3. How is the tree doing? Surely Joannie Flatprat has responded in a similar manner?
  4. A football club was injured after a collision with a prudent businessman. More to follow. (I hope not)
  5. Nice to see that its all available to read in a publication that is always sold out by the tme we get to the ground. Hope the QPR fans get a good laugh from it. (19 Canteen, sorry Lowe, out!!)
  6. The ground is now owned by King Edwards who swapped Wide Lane playing field with the uni. Didnt even play footy at the time I had the misfortune to go there.
  7. Whereas McGoldrick was the p....
  8. Why do we persist in having Gillett in the wall?
  9. As someone who failed Maths A-level (still celebrating winning the FA cup 6 weeks earlier) isnt the problem with this that we are 11/10 to take one of the 3 relegation spots. We are also up against 23 others, whereas the heads/tails argument is the ultimate 2 horse race. I think.
  10. Pulis picks up another injury. Lockjaw!!
  11. Sh it game. Sh it ground. Sh it pitch. Sh it atmosphere. We never looked like scoring and the certainly didnt look 2nd in the league. I really hate the place and cant remember ever seeing a good game there. Even the 5-2 league cup win in 78 was poor. Only saving grace was a good parking spot and back here by 7. I may have had a beer or two since. Goodnight.
  12. Did you just fall asleep after eating cheese!!
  13. Another Foley coach trip. Everton away 1980. After yet another away defeat, we asked the driver to stop off at Swindon, where we had found a great pub 7 days earlier after the WBA game. I nodded off on the journey home and was woken by someone asking me if I knew where we were? Steamed up window and rain, I eventually saw a motorway sign for Northampton. The idiot driver had missed the M5 at Spaghetti Junction and sailed on past Brum and was heading for God knows where as there was no M25 or M40 then. I had to navigate him from Towcester to Oxford and onto the A34 and we got to East Ilsley after 10.00. A manic hours drinking later, we got back on board and promptly broke down on the slip road leading back to A34. After the whole coach tried pushing it downhill (do coaches bump-start?) we had to wait 3 hours for a replacement and got back after 4.00 Couldnt afford a taxi and walked 3 miles home and after a few hours kip I got sent off for retaliation in the 1st half of my sunday match. Happy, er? days.
  14. I've known Dave for years and I'm absolutely stunned by the news. Went to buy the echo before coming on here and I just stood in the shop trying to take it in. He was a top bloke and a genuine saints fan. Seen him at numerous away games, including Bucharest and I walked back with him from the Doncaster debacle last month, discussing where to go in Div 3 next year. His media work involved reporting for such tomes as the Sport, which we took the **** out of, but he did arrange for a couple of their page 3 birds photo shoot behind the bar of our local, which got a couple of my mates their 15 mins of fame. RIP, Big Dave.
  15. Yes, in the league cup and I was also at the Grimsby FA Cup 2nd replay v Grimsby in Filbert Street in 78. On The Big Match Revisited the other week they showed Sheff Wed v Arsenal in 79. That one went to 5 matches, whilst we were waiting for the pitch at Preston to thaw out.
  16. Can I just congratulate Sumdance Canteen on becoming a Full member and I look forward to reading many more of his lengthy and inciteful (sorry: insightful) tomes. However, I would wish to warn him of the danger that is the purile "FartPants" who stalks posters with a deliberately confrontational attitude and appears to offer no original insight and even less good humour. All IMHO of course.
  17. Jonah was at work an hour earlier this morning according to the "Lowe's mistake thread."
  18. Jim Smith?? Bagpuss' bum chum.
  19. In the pub after the Forest debacle in Dec. someone mused as to how many had played in 1st team since the 03 Cup Final. Since the debuts of McLaggon, Size and Molyneux weve got 111. League games only.
  20. Godfrey.
  21. Under the East, late sixties, there was only one price for both kids and adults (5 bob?) and I would be encouraged by my dad to climb over the turnstile, whilst he paid the bloke 1/2 for me.
  22. It dosen't take 90 mins. Its just when someone is bothered to announce it. When we were nearly selling out a few years ago, it would be belted out on the tannoy at the final whistle "and thank you for your wonderful support." These days they aren't stupid enough to say " 9,800 plus those who couldn't be arsed and thank you for watching another home defeat!"
  23. Sorry, nickh? Saturday is the last chance saloon, but even if we lose you wont accept it for several weeks?
  24. Wouldn't trust him as far as I could Spit him!
  25. That will please Mick McCarty?????
