The 'when do you break up for Christmas' thread
Pip87 replied to thesaint sfc's topic in The Muppet Show
Broke up on friday. Go back on the 5th for one week, then go back in February. This is why I have time to waste on here. -
I believe there is an ignore function you can use.
-
Well we only go 1-3 times a month. I wouldn't like shopping much more than that and I don't think he would either. Remember we don't (or haven't so far anyway) shop for handbags and shoes etc. Most things can be enjoyed in moderation. We're just good at knowing (and doing) what we will enjoy. We keep relaxed and happy
-
He hates me being quiet and I have the other two covered (when he's here.. i'm not going to barge into his kitchen and start rummaging around!). Thanks for the info though. Looks like i'll have to purchase him extra presents. But I will show him this thread and ask him if i'm covered and therefore don't have to buy him christmas presents now. I think I know what the answer will be though.
-
Hence why I haven't bought him any gadgets. I leave that to him unless he tells me exactly what he wants. I will keep the receipts for the surprise presents I do get him. We have been very good friends for a couple of years now and are both really relaxed with each other. I won't care less if he doesn't like it and we will enjoy going shopping together to take it back and get him a replacement. So, it might actually be good if one of us wants to take something back!

Oh, and in answer to the original question. IMO opinion it's not being ungrateful, it's just little bits of being totally fed up of you not listening to her coming out. If you said you wanted a blue car and she went out and bought a silver one and said "bet you didn't know they had silver cars, aren't I great for finding that out and getting you one instead of the dreadful blue thing you wanted?" When really the situation is that you know there are silver cars, you just prefer the blue ones. Would you go skipping round saying how fantastic she is and how grateful you are? I'm guessing no, more likely you'd feel like she thinks you're stupid and your opinion doesn't matter.

I don't think we're generally a nightmare to buy for. Be on the look out for all the hints you lot, somehow, normally manage to miss maybe? Men are worse because everything they want they just buy so you have nothing left! If a woman says "I'd like a mobile phone and an ipod" what she means is exactly that. It means she doesn't like iphones or she would have asked for one instead. Makes sense to me. It does not mean that she has no ability to look at adverts and therefore knows nothing of iphones and will think of you as her saviour for enabling her to have one product instead of two. This is why I don't like having presents bought for me - I feel really guilty (apart from once) if/when I don't like it. Luckly my boyfriend now is very good and i'm sure i'll like all my christmas presents. He actually listens to me

Try picking up some alcohol rub thing for you hands and put it on a few times during the day. I believe most people pick up colds and things by touching things the someone with a virus has touched (phone, door handle etc), then putting your hands to your face without killing the germs first. Not sure if everyone would laugh at you if they saw you first though. It also dries your hands out. When I was visiting one of the kids in hospital I had to use it every time I went in or out of the ward and my hands were very dry by the time she left hospital.

Are you sure it was her being female that was the problem, not her being old? I don't think I take a long time at the cash machine and i'm female, but not old (imo). I certainly don't keep my pin numbers in my bag (or anywhere else other than my head actually), that would be very foolish.

What's bad about christmas? You could try thinking about it as the closer you are to christmas the closer you are to christmas being over? -

Yeah - it was really good. Great anticipation. It wasn't a big drop but they did it really well and it was a total surprise when they dropped you. -

Friday - was boring getting ready for the weekend Saturday - worked in the morning (really enjoyed it this week) boyfriend came round after to pick me up. Had dominos for dinner and 'watched a film in bed' Sunday - Went to London - On Jillyannes advice I informed the boyfriend that the Dungeons was the first stop We both really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend it. I even left with more knowledge than i went in with  went on the eye, then headed back to his for dinner and wii monopoly. This morning - Started my revision on the train home. In for a week of revision. Surprisingly, i'm looking forward to it. -

Tonight - not a lot Saturday - Work in the morning. Going up to the boyfriends after. Cinema (or maybe just film in) in the evening Sunday - Going to London to go on the eye, possibly dungeon and sea life centre. Also a bit of christmas shopping i expect. I'm all finished at uni, other than for one week in january, till february now so need to start some serious self discipline type revision as of monday -
I'm just watching Ricki Lake and thought i'd share the following two sentence conversation with you all: Ricki: How long have you been committed and monogamous to her? Bloke: Since the last time I cheated on her. How fantastic. I wish there was something else on. I might have to eat lunch and then go christmas shopping until there is a better programme on.

Is it new? Never heard of it.

Unfortunately I do not know the whereabouts of the girl or the fly. I could find the girl via facebook, but probably not the fly. I fail to see how it could be recreated without them (or the 25 or so girls standing and giggling). A once in a lifetime moment I think. Sorry.
-
Wahay, she was useful for something then (giving me carp to post on a forum when bored waiting for a lecture). Do I get a prize?
-
I have no idea, some sort of cake must have been involved though (she was on the very large side).
-
Someone I went to school with once had a fly fly out of her skirt during PE class. Does that count? Only ever seen it the once. We were all about 13ish at the time so obviously there was a lot of giggling involved. She used to shave her arms too. She wasn't very nice either.

I never said they weren't nice! I just don't see how selling the big issue is going to enable them to start their lives again and find somewhere to live. I also imagine that it would damage someones self esteem terribly to stand around saying 'big issue' all day when the know barely anybody is going to buy it.
