There were clearly some issues yesterday, they were obviously planning to do a light show pre game that didn’t materialise. They tried to go to the media guy on the pitch but couldn’t get through to him. Also they didn’t have the team info on the screens all game. Volume was stupidly loud last night too, we have gone from not being able to hear the PA system anywhere to incurring hearing damage. Surprised they aren’t breaching some kind of legal decibel limit. Music is absolutely garbage too. Everything is secondary to the football and that win was crucial. Our production standards do appear to be getting increasingly tin pot though.

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
Shandy_Top_89 replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Slightly different spin on this. I don’t care much for her, but we have basically turned around to Bangladesh (where she has never set foot) and said ‘there you go, your problem now’. Just another example of this country shirking it’s responsibilities. As much as we all dislike the creature, she is a product of the UK and we shouldn’t be forcing other countries to deal with her. We should be the ones judge her and apply the law, this is just lazy behaviour from the UK. -
Bit alarmed at the number of people saying they shouldn’t be banned. They should never set foot in St Mary’s again, it would be an acceptable punishment. People are right that we aren’t as bad as Liverpool, Chelsea etc. Let’s keep it that way rather than working towards the lowest common denominator.

This is how news of the Nissan X-Trail is going down on Sunderland’s forum; ‘larrysimon’ If this news is Nissan being vindicative against the “people” who voted to leave the EU..... Then **** them, we have seen all the ship yards, pits and heavy engineering all go..... and “we the people” ARE STILL HERE. We stood facing Europe alone in 1940..... So Johnny Foreigner can go and **** off..... We will prevail. Comments like this highlight that this country as a whole deserves to be nominated for the Darwin Awards. My faith in humanity was slightly restored by some of the responses this comment received, in particular; ‘Medulla’ Larry, by any chance have you consumed eight gallons of the finest lead paint?

Didn't think that was just for Prowse either, we appeared generally reluctant to go wide when players were in space. Most of the team ignored Valery and Targett in space when they came forward too. Separately Valery is like a reverse Targett, good defensively but poor going forward.

For the ERG - To increase chances of a no deal outcome, because they know the position is unacceptable to the EU. For May and the Government - To start the process of deflecting blame for a poor outcome on to the EU. Prepare to see a lot more of ‘Well we went to the EU with the best intentions, but they bullied us and forced us into putting a hard border in Ireland / all shortages and job losses are the fault of the tyrannical EU’ etc.

Well the lunatics have truly taken over the asylum now. Wonder how well things will work out in the long run when you have over 16 million of the population subjected to hardship against their will, with a prolonged period of less than 20% representation in Parliament. Good luck Brexiteers ball is in your court now, be prepared to face the consequences if you fail to deliver the Unicorns......

If we go through we will be on tv again for this (BT Sport). As a result kick off has been moved to 12.30 on the Saturday BT also have Wimbledon - West Ham that evening as a 7.45 kick off. Surely logistically it would be better to reverse those timings?
-
I’m of the same mindset as many on here. First interesting draw in years, guaranteed we will get knocked out by Derby as a result Would have thought there was a good chance of being on tv with this one. Although I don’t have BT and you can be sure that the BBC will give their left nut to capture the standout tie of the round ‘Manchester City - Burnley’....

Thought he would be a good signing and his pre Saints stats were pretty good. I try not to judge players too hard on performances against the absolute top sides and he did provide what should have been a decent assist. But outside of that he just lost possession constantly and seemed to lack any sort of direction. Armstrong has effectively made him redundant in all but a squad capacity, disappointing but at least we seem to have one good player out of the two.
-
Poch > Man U Ralph > Spurs Well, I mean two games without speculation on the Managers future was nice I suppose .
-
Probably a case of solidify first, as it will take some time for his approach to settle in. Fairly reasonable logic, but not the most exciting team. Also probably have Vestergaard and Romeu back in to provide some height and strength against Warnock-ball.

Governor Hassenhüttl’s first day at Staplewood.

Hope: Pompey, Doncaster (my second team) or some non league side. Reality: Everton away again

Beginning to think that Redmond might be our best player currently. If we had capable strikers he would be near Tadic first season level of assists at this point based on his chance creation. Disappointingly there seems to still be a lot of anti-Redmond sentiment in the ground though, some guys near me were moaning about him all the way through the game. Armstrong and Redmond seem to link together very effectively as well, we might be on the verge of solving our goal scoring issues. Shame about the defence though...
-
Uncertain about Sousa, although that Basel and Fiorentina record looks good. Record in England is frankly very poor. The candidate I would be happiest with of the ones that appear likely is Sánchez Flores, did a solid job at Watford even if he was sacked at the end of the season (harshly imo)

I'm working on the assumption that the club are holding fire until they have appointed a new Vice Chairman of Football (or whatever Les's ****y job title was). So hopefully that can be resolved in the next week or so.....

Romeu not even making the cup bench....
-
Positives: Armstrong Targett (Played a level above Bertrand) Lemina Redmond at a stretch Negatives: Didn’t realise we were playing 1-4-2 today. Hope Hoedt is sent to row back from the Thames via the Channel after that. Vestergaard, Stephens or Bednarek back in please, I’ve appreciated about as much of him bringing our defence up to a ‘higher level’ as I am willing to stand. Think Hughes will be given Man U and Spurs as those are hopeless fixtures anyway, after that hopefully someone new. Not that it will help much, we have to have the most unlikable squad since QPR were in the Prem.
-
Obviously disappointing, but I think those already calling for Hughes should be careful what they wish for. Attacking and movement improved on last season, but set piece defending is critically poor, we must be the worst at it in the league. I don't think Gabbi and Prowse was an incorrect move, despite Prowse bottling it in defence at the end. However I would have preferred to see Yoshi on instead of Davis, just to better prepare us for set peices and high balls in the closing stages. Feel that this season depends on whether or not Hughes can fix our set piece defending. Currently think we could finish anywhere in the 10th-18th range, there is a long way to go.
-
6/10 Clear changes being seen in the way we play. Movement and attacking has improved, set piece defending is critically poor though and I feel everything depends on if Hughes can fix it. I feel like we are in a better place than we were under Pellegrino, but there is still a lot of work to do.

Bit of a rough day for our loanees. Sims had the best of it with 11 mins and an assist. Reed came on for Blackburn from the bench too. McQueen and Hesketh unused subs. Flannigan didn’t make the bench for Burton. Jones an unused sub for St. Mirren, who signed Anton Ferdinand as first choice CB after signing Jones from Saints. God knows what Seagers form in the Dutch second division means, Admittedly I’ve not looked at the older loanees such as Carillo (although it looks like he missed a penalty for Leganes today), Boufal and Clasie.

Carabao Cup draw - Round 3 - Everton (a)
Shandy_Top_89 replied to Pamplemousse's topic in The Saints
Boring, difficult and a fixture we have only just played in the league. We seem to be on a pretty lengthy run of **** draws. -
Far end of Chapel by the Chapel - Itchen Corner, quite impressed as I even managed to nip across to the Itchen to have a chat with a mate for 5 mins at half time before going down to grab a drink. Obviously sounds like they didn't replicate it. Actually my surprise at getting something so quickly had clouded the fact that we had been served by someone who couldn't speak English before the game and I don't mean struggled to speak English, couldn't speak a word and had to be physically pointed in the direction of what we wanted and we had to gesture the quantity of what we wanted with our fingers too. Which bluntly isn't acceptable, but like you say that is down to the quality of employment and training. Not her fault that someone decided that she was capable to man a till with no understanding of the language, also I bet it was probably a pretty stressful experience for her too. So ill amend my message to 'at least it was better than Burnley'
