Lowe - one of the UK's worst ever chairmen?
Shandy_Top_89 replied to Tamesaint's topic in The Saints
Lowe had some big negatives, but to say he was the worst chairman ever is a tad strong, hell id even say Wilde was more instrumental in our recent near-liquidation......... but avoiding that sh*t storm. Peter Ridsdale - Where Saints downfall was caused by a varitable circus of idiots, Ridsdale was the sole destroyer of Leeds, he overspent with the knowledge that if they didnt win basically EVERYTHING they wouldnt recoup the funds to exist essentially. Ken Richardson - Ex-Doncaster chairman personally burnt down the main stand at Belle Vue in an attempt at insurance fraud. Pete Winkelman - Killed Wimbledon to create US SPORTS ETHICS 'franchise' FC (otherwise known as MK DONS), where part of the spirit of the game is denied, moving a team away from its home and rebranding it in aid of one mans (or a groups) 'project'. George Reynolds - Built an unnecessarily large stadium for Darlington FC (25'500 for a current avg attendance of 3000 although i know part of this is due to current performance), they are failing to recoup the costs and came considerably closer to liquidation in the summer than we did. On a side note he was also charged with tax evasion, after he was found to be storing £500,000 in the boot of his car and has since been declared bankrupt. These are just four examples in this country alone, im sure there are worse than this too. -
Apart from SWF which website do you visit most fequently?

Would like set date for ff 13 + more remakes of old ff's (ff 4 on ds is a wee gem) + maybe some confirmation of Gears of War 3. Sony supposedly has a 'megaton announcement', rumour is that it is the ff 7 ps3 remake but im pretty certain thats bull. Some good new RPGs would certainly tick boxes especially if they are on the Wii, because mine is collecting dust in a corner of my room nowadays.

Whilst i see your point, the possession of nuclear weapons is part of a fine balancing act and if all countries were to discard their weapons and then one sneaked away and built their own stock pile, then it would be another tricky cold war sitution where potentially the world could end at any time. Added to the fact N.Korea and Iran clearly have more active motives for developing nuclear weapons than the USA, UK and others that possess them more for brinksmanship reasons. However if N.Korea were to attack the south i am pretty sure the country would immediately be flattened and resemble a scene from Fallout 3, heres hoping not though.

No......................we were just a fraction on a series of much larger debts

Because beggars cant be choosers? However I think he could be an asset next season, just needs to up his game because if he wants to he can play fairly well, although on the flip side he can be mistaken for a brick on some days.

If by any chance you have a 360 too, Gears of War 2 has good offline co-op

I just did my dissertation plan and since its on 'Was appeasement critical in the development of WW2' (not highly original i know) the T of V is going to be pretty damn important as it goes.

Games you're definitely going to buy this year

Yoshinori Kitase (producer) - said they were keen to reduce the localisation time, this time round, specifically with Europe in mind. Aiming at pre-winter 2010 release over here. http://finalfantasy-xiii.net/2009/05/05/final-fantasy-xiii-coming-to-europe-before-winter-2010.html I doubt its ability to transfer to the 360 though, think they may have made a mistake there, despite the fact i own a 360 and want this game. Personally i think we should get the release (and all other games too) with the US, since the only reason it takes longer to get to Europe is the localisation into all the different countries with different languages. But because of PAL/NTSC formats thatll never happen -

Why does everyone keep on saying the FA, when it isnt the FA its the football league that are imposing the penalty, not that its a really big deal just so many people are saying it that its getting annoying now lol. -
Oh dear 5'8" and 13 stone, are you me by any chance? When this semester of uni finishes, im gonna have to gym it too i fear, university life and healthy living dont go hand in hand.

Are we so used to a manager change...
Shandy_Top_89 replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
Its more than yearly nowadays, its almost half yearly. But yeah i get drawn to it too, always in the false hope we will get someone who has any sort of ability and/or experience. -
If your talking about when they left the level of Burley hate was quite high from the majority of fans actually, the same also celebrated Dodd and Gorman taking charge, which to be fair changed pretty quickly. I remember quite a few fans being enthused when Poortlivet took over, and the pressure for him to leave was nowhere near the level of pressure that was being put on Burley, im pretty sure. I agree with most that he ****ed up during the season we made the play offs, in that with the team we had we should have done better, but my thought when Burley left was; who are we going to get thats any better? And i still havent got an answer to that question, and now we are L1 -10 (if we are lucky) then i dont think ill be seeing the answer for quite a while.

Does seem a bit odd, but it appears to be what people are saying, however i wont deny its probably a load of crap, regardless im pretty sure the deadline is in the next week. :s
-
Yep what im hearing from anyone who appears to know anything is that, Mark Fry said we fold on the 4th of May without funding, so that would be more than likely correct.

I did laugh when i read that Cameron went outside to speak afterwards to flame browns stance, when it was a lib dem motion that made the difference, bandwagon hopping much? Although saying that Brown got exactly what he deserved, these rules were shocking.

A boycott would only serve to finish the club off for good, so to be honest you would be going the one step further than our previous board of directors. Whilst Lowe returning (or for that matter any of the previous directors, it isnt just him) would most likely not be a good thing, the club itself would be on a financial and functional clean slate, so it would be unlikely that we would go tits up in the same way any time soon. A boycott would damage the club more than it would damage Lowe if he did return, just like it has done this time. So just calm down, look at the actual situation and realise that really this isnt what we should be focusing on. *prepares to get flamed lol.

Mega Drive SNES Game Boy Game Boy Colour PS1 PS2 Nintendo DS Nintendo Wii XBOX 360 Kind of ashamed of the shortness of this list compared to others on here :s. PS 1+2 at their height were the glory days for me.

My problem when it comes to fans isnt the attendance, as customers we have the right to not attend when the product is so unbelievably dire, pretty much similar to going to a michelin star restaurant and being served mould on a plate. But i do believe that the fans allowed Michael Wilde to start playing ego pinball with his fellow directors, which turned Lowe from a financially responsible individual (although very poor staff manager), into what he is prone to be now. But to me its down to a bunch of factors; fans reaction to relegation (letting Wilde near the chair), Wildes little games with the directors and the finances (Wilde to me is the centre of this mess) and Lowes poor staff management.

Whoops repeated Red Alert
-
The games i have enjoyed most easily include FF6/8/9/10, Resident Evil 4 (5 was pretty good, but not quite as entertaining because it was mega serious), the original Red Alert and its add-ons. I used to live on pokemon and dare not touch it again because its too effing addictive. Spent ages playing Nightfire which i thought had a really good multi-player too, i used to spend a lot of time with the original Red Alert and its additions. Finally i guess i used to love Legend of Dragoon *getting my geek on here.

He cant anyways because the football league has no control over premier league sides.
