To be honest i hadnt done much weapon modding, most weapons were level 3-4. Theres quite a lot of room for levelling characters up before you get into the fight at the end of the chapter just try to get near the crystarium limit, took me about 4 attempts to take him too. Chapter 11 is killing me all over the place now, this is definately the hardest FF in terms of battles and such.
-
in chapter 10 the crystarium fully opens and you can start assigning your characters different roles - e.g. lightning can become a sentinel, snow could become a medic and so on............ Im at chapter 11 now, it opens up a lot and you can start doing optional missions on the side. The crystarium is horrible now though in terms of cp required to pass from node to node, 4000 cp per move and im getting about 1000-3000 points per battle and all battles are kind of difficult. Whats keeping you at the end of chapter 9 Barfy, the boss at the end? My team for it was lightning, sazh and vanille, i started off med/syn/sab, and once they were buffed up went to com/rav/rav on the additional structures. If destrudo keeps on killing you, focus on attacking when he is building the attack up, he flinches and the eventual result is nowhere near as powerful.

Ha funny i live in Marchwood on and off, hear the sirens go off all the time and never realised this was the reason.

Im at the beginning of chapter 10, thinking that the characters are probably the most understandable in an FF so far, the story isnt bad at all, and the battle system is awesome. The battle - cutscene - battle thing gets a bit tedious but having said that im still playing it, in the more open world FF 12 id packed in by now (I did get back to finish it eventually), but i seem to enjoy this more than running round for hours location to location.

Yeah for the most part i agree, but it does sort of tie in to what i said about having to be patient with the game. From what ive read so far it opens up about half way through the game, but up until that point its very linear. It is true that one character is under your control and two are under AI, although you can loosely control what the AI characters do with the paradigm system (six jobs to change on the fly), having youtube'd some battles (filling my time whilst listening to the game ) I can understand that decision with the speed of the battles. Also i wouldnt trust edge as far as I can throw them, a history of quite erratic reviews

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soPA1UIpClQ Out Tuesday. Reviews coming out with 83 overall on metacritic, pretty good although fairly low for a full FF (not crystal chronicles or tactics, or a sequal). Main complaint seems to be that the game holds your hand for the first 15 hours limiting what you can do in the battle system and forces you down a narrow path of progression, although it opens up for the following 30 hours after that and turns out to still be a very good game. Going to reserve judgement for myself, a slightly lower rating isnt going to put me off since ive been waiting 4 years. The story sounds reasonable and the graphics look fantastic, the battle system later on looks pretty fun too it just sounds like ive got to persevere the first third of the game to reap the rewards later on .

New Timesplitters would be awesome. This will be the first time Natal is shown to the public right? Im a bit skeptical at the moment, the hype behind it is almost unbelieveable with Microsoft and their associated software developers constantly saying it will 'revolutionise' gaming ....... I will believe it when i see it.

My bad. I was aware of the difference between the FA and the FL, which seemed to stump so many when we took the 10 point hit. But i thought the FA ran the Premier League, ta for the correction .
-
Will they take a points hit if they go into admin? I thought the FA didnt hand out punishments for admin like the Football League and the Non-League does, or am I living in the past?

Milton Keynes rallying call :-) Shame

But the FA will tell you that they are a club with excellent footballing tradition and support. Hence the need to fund a ground expansion to give them a 40,000 capacity world cup stadium in 2018. ............ Why do the authorities of football lack all forms of sense. -
Band Of Brothers - British miniseries version, ideas?
Shandy_Top_89 replied to Crab Lungs's topic in The Lounge
There was some support for Hitler across the world, wasnt he Time's man of the year in 1938? However i think by the time Germany started expanding Chaimberlains national government figured out that it was inevitably going to end in war, and they just stuck with appeasement only until we had the strength to square up to them. About tv i think there is still some good coming out here, mostly on c4 but the BBC has some good stuff sometimes mainly Ashes to Ashes and for some reason i like Merlin despite the fact it can take the level of cheese above and beyond. Doctor Who has become a CBBC show essentially, every time they make a good story they ruin it with an emphatically ****e plot twist e.g. if everyone on earth thinks the same thing at the exact same time MAGIC HAPPENS! A war drama would be appreciated though that is something we lack, particularly World War 1 dramas. -
Also i wasnt sure what job i wanted to do when i finished college, so i thought it would be a better use of my time doing a degree than sitting around worrying about what i could do with my life. In the end I may get a job totally unrelated to my degree, although I am looking at moving on to a secondary history PGCE in which case my degree will be helpful. Also the thought that part of my future earnings will be going towards students in the future, isnt something that bothers me really, since its a system thats worked for me. Better than funding the dole queue.

I know i shouldnt but alright ill take the bait. I think Media Studies takes more of a hit than it deserves. I do History joint with Media as a degree (not a mixture, just half the modules of each to make a full degree). Despite what people believe about the subject, i think its important to know about the media due to the influence it has on our lives. Also History and Media Studies are basically exactly the same in terms of difficulty level, modes of assessment and the skills they focus on; essay writing and research primarily. Also in terms of all the talk of students blowing loans and grants away, i dont know where they get the extra money from, my loan doesnt even cover my rent cost for the year :S. I think it depends entirely on individual circumstances there, not everyone can be tarred with the same brush. I did Travel and Tourism at A-Level and im not going to defend that lol. If anyone thinks they can take it for an easy grade though they will soon find out they are wrong, the moderators for that subject are mark butchers and constantly re-write the grading criteria throughout the year. I ended up with a D in it after they took off over 80 marks from my original grade post-moderation, despite them saying that my essay was fine on pre-mod. Luckily i didnt have the same problems in Geography and History. Rant Over *preparing for flames over mickey mouse subjects.

Just randomly about ff 13 spoilers - dont ever go near the wikipedia of ff 13, out of nowhere in the middle of a character description paragraph i found out essentially the entire ending. However im still going to play the hell out of this when its out, even if i have a heap of dissertation work to do at uni lol.

I thought they started that season with Dowie, not Curbishley.

Depends what you hated about Oblivion. This is a linear set story almost like an interactive movie, unlike oblivion which is focused on an open world with a vague plot. FF13 is a mixture of fantasy and sci fi really, its not got the dungeons and dragons aesthetic of Oblivion. - this will give you a fair idea of what to expect.

Townsend Townsend Townsend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In the appauling seasons of highlights we were treated to under the reign of terror that 'The Premiership' exposed all fans of football too i think he was the worst. Even though Arsenal were sensational during this period, the total focus he had on brown nosing Wenger and Henry made me want to punch a hole through the TV. What really made me hate that programme as a whole was the complete lack of highlights of games from outside Arsenal and Man Utd (even Chelsea and Liverpool suffered during this point), because they did about a 20 minute highlight section of one game then would spend about 20 minutes analysing that one game. Following this they spent about 5 minutes cramming the goals from the other games in and then the other 25 minutes was adverts. Quick stats: The Premiership spent an average 28 minutes on the action from matches per show. Match of the Day averages 58 minutes. Even if this is a wiki fact, I throughly trust it because it sounds about right for the quality of coverage I witnessed.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/motorsport/formulaone/f1news/6786502/Michael-Schumacher-move-to-replace-Jenson-Button-at-Mercedes-draws-closer.html This would be good, believe it when i see it though. Would make 2010 an even better year for sport. Also as far as actual presents goes i keep on heavily hinting about a new radio for my car with a line-in so i can listen to my iphone in the car.

A shame for sure, i wonder if he will reappear in another footballing role. I could see him becoming a very good coach or even manager in the future, plus trying to look on the positive side (granted that must be hard). If he does go down that route he has a good 7 -10 year advantage to gain experience and perfect the techniques of coaching over other professional footballers that decide to do that when they retire.

I find peoples definitions of southern and northern kind of amusing im from Nuneaton, but everyone else in my family is from Manchester, Doncaster and Kinross. So the end result is i get slated as northern my all of my friends here, and i get slated for being southern by my family (or English from those in Scotland, but id say they have a fair case lol).

Damn my poor computer skills............ but you get the point anyways.

2018 World Cup bid - Time for Saints to step in
Shandy_Top_89 replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
From what i had originally heard they wanted at least one city in each region to host world cup matches, so in which case London, Bristol and Plymouth arent challenging us. It would be divided into North East, North West, Yorkshire and the Humber, West Midlands, East Midlands, East (Anglia and surrounding areas), Greater London, Westcountry (Bristol and Plymouth are duking it out against each other) and South East (which currently has no bids, this is where we step in). Id imagine our bid would feature 10 stadiums and i find it likely that London will get 2 and the North East (Manchester and Liverpool) will get 2. Leaving enough room for 1 in each other region. I think this would be the most equal way to spread games around the country, im sure this is how they are suppose to be doing it. -
Should we be offered a referendum on the EU?
Shandy_Top_89 replied to View From The Top's topic in The Lounge
I think a lot of people take what is said out of context here. Firstly everyone has made a valid point, those for and against often have very good well considered reasons to feel the way they do. However there will be a mass amount of uninformed voting on base principles, and regardless of whether or not all the pros and cons are listed by the government in event of a referendum chances are people will still ignore it and make an uninformed decision on their gut instinct. Personally i think swannymeres test idea would be perfect in a situation like this, because it would ensure that those voting on the issue are totally aware of the consequences positive or negative. On whether or not im for it myself i am unsure, it depends on if it has our best interests (economic, social, democratic) at heart. As much as i am fond of our history as a nation, these decisions concern the future and the two should be separated, if merging into a European super state would benefit us im all for it. However this treaty is still a minor step towards that and its importance is being over hyped. The enthusiasm of people over the interests of the country on this board has impressed me, however there are others who would vote blind (*see the BNP and part of their vote). Also we should be offered a referendum on principle, but if neither party is offering it there is no chance we are going to get it.
