On paper that may be good backup, but we have seen nothing of J-rod to suggest that he will go back to the way he was,he looked broken every time I saw him last season. Austin has also scored a lot in the prem, however he can't seem to shake them niggling injury's Seager is out long term and Gallagher still doesn't look ready for the prem. The optimist in me hopes that J-Rod & Austin score 25 goals between them, but the pessimist in me says they wont play 25 games between them. I hope we see the best out of them

If we have known for a year that Mane & Wanyama were leaving early doors in the window, why have we not got the replacements in already? We apparently bought Austin in Jan because we knew Pelle was off,yet we still have not replaced these two,you would think the club would of identified and singled out who they want and bought them as soon as the window opened so we can get them in and integrate them to the team asap. I know its 5 weeks to the start of the season but why wait when you have the money and time to do it now ? Unless the club have already missed the targets or we are really going to try and promote youth
-
Because he was injured at least 2-3 times since joining in Jan,hopefully he regains that form we bought him in for but if he doesn't we will struggle
-
Hardly a suicide thread,Saints have sold 3 of there best players and are seemingly only looking at signing a VW replacement. We need Austin & J-Rod to score 20+ goals are you confident they can do that? At the moment I am not sure if they will even play 20 games . Palace may well be paying £25-30 for Benteke but he will score plenty of goals in that team as he is a proven PL striker, who do you think will score more this season Benteke or Gallagher/Seager ?
-
Replaced with Redmond and Gallagher/Seager if you are to believe the Echo piece that reeks of being club fed
-
You can probably understand why Koeman got out when he did then, he thought the youth was sh1te and not up to PL standard now we are replacing the best players with them.
-
We will struggle to make top 10 without replacing any of the ones that leave imo Austin & J-rod could score 20 goals each or spend all season on the sidelines, why would you take that gamble when you are going into the biggest season in the clubs history, and they are now looking more like liabilitys than assets,it really is a 50/50 gamble with them. Redmond has never shone in the prem, granted he was in a poor Norwich side but he never stood out as something special and he has never looked at Mane's level.

Buying young and unproven with the view to sell on at a huge profit is a great model to have, however it is not the greatest model to have when you start talking about CL and winning things as you need a certain stability within the spine of your team to build on,you cant expect to sell the best each summer and improve year on year,I know we have finished higher every season but we are now talking breaking into the top 4,and with what others are spending Utd/City/Leicester etc we are going to be left behind unless we buy a few "proven" players at unfortunately higher prices,if teams like Palace can throw around £30m for Benteke then no doubt in my mind we can. At some point shopping around Europes bargain basement is going to cost you and with more games this season due to group stage Europa you would think we would be looking to bolster the team not sell and then just replace with a cheaper model Also I am not really buying this buy young sell high model anyway we seem to be following, who have we sold that we bought cheap and then sold on for a big profit Mane & Lovren is all I can think of,everyone else came through the academy or has been here since L1 days, and other than VVD I cant think of any player who will move on for a bigger profit, maybe Cedric if he develops but other than that we wouldn't get a great return on what we currently have Gaston,Osvaldo,Juanmi,Forren & Mayuka were all serious flops, that came here under the "potential" tag,and for me there has been more flops than improvements
-
I just hope they are not pinning to much on Austin & J-Rod being 100% for the season as that could really come back and haunt us
-
I know its only the French league but he does look decent. It's all well saying he is too much and keep looking for the gems but if the black box has done it's due diligence then why not spend that kind of money,if we can afford it then whats the problem ?
-
It's nuts we won't offer a extension, it reckon he will come back as different player from the euros we have seen him boss 2 of the worlds best defenders in Ramos and Pique and ttha kind of expertise will be invaluable in Europe
-
Saints super secrecy policy is great in getting business done but awful for us fans,we must have the least ITK knowledge of all the prem teams.
-
Or just not accept the first bid on our players

Ben Arfa signs for PSG
-
If Morgan thinks coming back to us (3pts off CL ) is a admission of defeat, what the hell is a move to Everton ?? If he came back he receives instant God like status among the fans. and instantly becomes a starter in a club he knows all about, unless one of the top 4 come in we are surely the best team for him I would be sick as a dog if he went to Liverpool though, hopefully they would never sell to them
-
Morgan story to Everton seems to be gathering, for £20m I would be ****ed if we didn't try to resign him
-
Ben Arfa was quality last season, would be well happy wit that, plays in the AM role so would fit in nicely
-
No need for us to be jealous, we are signing a Spanish wonder kid and a Scottish 16yo
-
Or what he means is that would be a great stepping stone for me before I get my dream move to Liverpool

CONFIRMED - Mane joins Liverpool for £34m + £2m addons

So with 2 years left on his contract this is just about money for Mane, no European football just a bumper pay cheque,he could easily have stayed here for another season signed a new contract had a significant pay rise, played European football and left next summer where his stock would of risen and had a better chance of a top CL team come in for him ? -

I hope the new manager has a decent kitty to bring in players,as without Mane,Schlong is the only one with pace , J-rod & Austin have a hamstring between them and Pelle can be more static than a caravan Maybe Puel is the only mug that would accept players being sold whenever and will be Reeds yes man. I hope I am wrong though -

Of course his agent has inflated the wage demands, but that doesn't necessarily mean he will get that Senegal are pretty turd as a team and he will be away 3-4 weeks max, small price to pay for a player of that class. I get what you are saying, but he will be the player that moves on and lights up the prem, you can see when we play he scares defenders those type of attackers are few and far between in the prem and for me we hold on at all costs -

Lambert was a different situation, best years behind him and a very loyal servant that was offered a last big payday at his boyhood club, Mane is 24 with his best years ahead of him, rumours he didn't like RK so I would assume he didn't get the best out of him and we all know how damaging he can be when on it,I would break the bank and offer him a big new contract with the promise of selling next summer if he still felt the same, for all we know the new manager might build the team around him and he could score 20 goals next season and then he would be worth £40-50m. I don't believe we have seen the best from him and I will be gutted if we see that next season at Liverpool all because they have paid him 100k a week and we wouldn't -

Do you not think players like Mane & VVD are worth paying top $$ for, these players have serious potential and should be kept at all costs, we cant keep expecting to improve if we sell off all the best players and replace with unproven. If your looking at buying unknowns making them prem quality and then being a feeder club for others and are happy with a 10-6 finish then own that and say it,don't wheel out Les at the end of each season giving it the big one saying we don't need to sell anymore we are aiming for CL etc etc and then flog everyone off again. Even the most optimistic of fans can't keep believing that we will do it season after season,a few Juanmi type signings and we are going to be in a situation you don't want, everyone of the "top 4 " will strengthen big this summer and with the likes of Leicester/Spurs/Pool and even West Ham with there free stadium are going to be up there, so for me now is the time to shut the door and say that's it now,we have group stage European football and now we go for it we strengthen in all departments and have a crack at it. With this team a few additions and the right manager we will be a force. -

I would disagree with you there on the wage bill front,I have no doubt in my mind we can pay better wages to our top players,I just think we choose not to,could we pay Mane 100k a week yes, will we offer him that ??? probably not
