You could tell after they equalised we would never score, the midfield sat so deep, we left J-Rod up top isolated, Boufal looks great on the ball but did very little off it, also looked scared of challenging for a header. Forster looks awful again, kicking was awful and should of dinner better for all the goals imo. Fonte looks uninterested as well, VVD was the one shouting orders and marshalling the defenders, he looked a proper leader

I thought Yoshida was very good again,he has been solid all season when called upon,JWP was immense imo,I thought that was one of if not his best game for us that I can ever remember. The whole team was awful in that game at that point. Hesketh was unlucky,literally any of them could of been pulled

What I like about Puel is that he is not scared to give the youngsters a go,Koeman would of put Yoshida on yesterday at LB and so would of Poch,but Puel is installing belief that the kids can come in and do a job,he played some decent balls in yesterday and won the Pen for the 2nd,will probably start in the San Siro and he will be full of confidence for that. The academy is famed for producing young talent and its about time we had a manager that believes in that and is going to find our next pool of talent

Forget the awful penalty decision, Long should of scored those 2 sitters, the game would of been out of sight by then. We all know he is a 1 in 10 striker failing to buy a proven striker may well cost us. But signs were encouraging yesterday, it does seem strange that have gone backwards from last season, the board took a massive gamble on a manager full week knowing he would change the system and formation that had been so successful for a few seasons, we just have to have faith it will come good, because if it doesn't I hope either the manager or board take action before it's too late

Fonte will go the same way as Lambert imo,flavour of the month at the minute but after a season he will be done,can't see him 1st choice at utd and will be used for league cup/FA cup and the odd Europa. Will be a shame but we have form for bringing in exceptional CB's so I look forward to his replacement Same for J-Rod...hoping its a 6 month loan and we can have him back at some point but he doesn't fill me with great belief at the minute where someone like Boufal or Ziyech would get the fans excited. Worst case scenario is we do not bring in anyone and we all can rock up at SMS with our pitchforks

What I don't get is how can the club not see that ? when everyone of us "armchair managers" can see it, even so called "expert" pundits are saying it. We have always though that eventually this selling quality and replacing with unproven will catch up with us,I just hope the club address this before it happens and this is not the season it happens. Because this Thursday & Sunday match malarkey will be hard on the team and even the teams with squads loaded with quality struggle with a game every 3 days, ultimately our league position is most important but every single Saints fan would love us to have a real crack at the Europa,and we just don't have the squad for both at the minute imo. I know we are a believer in youth,but you have to question why none are that close to the 1st team,they certainly are not good enough for prem football so they most certainly won't be good enough for group stage Europa. If this diamond doesn't work and we do not change the formation,I fear we will be in freefall and never recover, I am not saying relegation but bottom half will be more likely and the chance of Europa/CL will be a million miles away. I would love us to go out and spend a small fortune on superstars,but I know it's not going to happen but I certainly expected us to capatalise on last season and strengthen with more players like Hojbjerg & Redmond, the club give out such mixed signals to the fans that you can understand why so many people get frustrated.Les Reed comes out in May and says the new focus is CL,keeping our best players and RK is signing a new contract.........4 months later we have lost RK,lost 3 of our better players and CL looks a million miles away,and we have not strengthened in a single position.

Long needs service,he will not beat 3 defenders and smash one in from 25yds he is not that type of player, he needs balls to run on to,he needs balls whipped in to head in....no wingers means less balls in, and if we can't get it to Tadic who is supposed to create everything he will have a poor season. Long was arguably our best player 2nd half of the season when we had Mane & Tadic either side
