Done, could have been us, might be one day still.

Some of the German stadia are quite sophisticated with removable seating to reveal terracing for league matches, Champions league matches must be at all seater stadia whereas German league matches can have standing areas. Incidently if 5000 seat were removed and replaced with terracing I guess that would enable maybe 10000 standing customers instead, giving 5000 increase in capacity abd increased revenue for minimal outlay. If we had 10000 that wanted to stand regularly it would be ideal, would improve the atmosphere as well.

As it happens sour mash this law. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1989/37/contents and no Appy, if it was successful I would expect to see a few less people in the Northam and Kindsland!! Those that remain will presumably learn to sit down. It would be really easy to just cancel your electronic tickets and not allow entry to the stadium, they wouldn't need to tape your seats up. Don't have a go at me, I spent most of my teenage saturday afternoons stood on the Milton and Archers road terraces and had a great time, i personally would support safe standing areas in our modern stadiums for those who want it. Just saying how easy it would be stop people standing the whole game.

As it's the law that we must sit in our seats at PL matches, I would imagine other clubs, police forces and safety authorities will be watching Sunderland's experiment. If it's successful I can see other clubs following suit or even being forced to follow.

Who remembers the jazz band that used to play at The Dell, must be late 70's early 80's. Brought back a few memories.

Don't hold back saintmatt, tell it how you see it:lol:

If I'm lucky enough to get a ticket I'm going. I'll travel the 11 miles from my house in Wickham to St Marys, get on a 22 mile coach trip to fratton waving at my wife as I go past my house, watch my team at fratton which is only 12 miles from home and then do it all again in reverse order. Can't wait it'll be great.

Own Up, Who Else Was Concerned About October?

Charlton Weather Watch/Build Up - game called off! (Dejavu?)

I don't subscribe, can you tell me what he says. However is to blame, whether it be D'Urso, CAFC, the groundsman, FL for not having a decent policy, doesn't really matter who, it's 2010 FFS not the dark ages sort it out!! -
Does anyone know if this is the same injury that has re-occured or a new injury, could be that he has just suffered bad luck with 2 serious injuries, seems a bit harsh to write him off without knowing the problem.

Yes happy days, remember loads of youngsters sat around the edge of the pitch as if that little gravel track wasn't narrow enough, and Peter Osgood snatching a balloon off one of them and taking a throw in. Great days as I hope our future is, lets hope todays big happy occasion captures another generation of fans to follow the Saints for years to come. Too many seasons of disappointment have been endured so lets try and raise the atmosphere and crowds at ALL future games. COYR

No you ***** I don't love you or football violence and after what "Saints fans" did to a couple of old blokes (see below) I'm surprised you even like yourself. You're not hard , you're not tough, you're just an embarrasing nuisance to decent football fans. I strongly suspect your mummy didn't give you enough cuddles you clueless ****. ""Pompey fan Keith Strevett, 77, of South Road, Horndean, suffered a head injury after being hit by a rock thrown by opposing fans in Britannia Road. And fellow fan Robert Graeney, 51, of Kimberley Road, Southsea, Portsmouth, suffered a cut about one in long below his left eye after being hit by flying debris""

Well said Wade. Can't help noticing that the St.Mary's crowd is liberally populated with old ladies handing out boiled sweets to all around them. Lots of children and families too. We're a family based club FFS, always have been and always will be, some of our "hard" members will always stand out as looking pretty tough compared to all the purple rinses that frequent the stadium, get over yourselves you knobs you're an embarrassment to decent football fans. Rivalry is great, it's right and proper and adds spice to our football fixtures. Hooliganism and fighting should be consigned to the history books along with the luddites that think it's good, most of you are too young to remember the really bad old days and judging by the state of some of the ones I've seen they won't last long when the going gets tough. If you like fighting and you're brave enough join a boxing club. Leave St.Mary's to the football fans.

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to sing "Knees up Mother Brown" directly after a rendition of "You're going home in a Hampshire ambulance" and before a chorus of "Six foot two, eyes are blue, Jimmy Steele is after you" Wind your neck in and enjoy yourselves, if it's a laugh and adds atmosphere then why worry?

I agree it's still possible but in my book unlikely so lets not be too harsh on the management

I don't think now or at any time this season that we would make the play offs, that's not a complaint but just realistic, from 10 points down, club in turmoil, late appointment of manager I thought we would do well to stay up, looks like we might do a bit better than that so a succesful season so far in my book!! Lets not forget where we've just come from and how low we all were.

Just going on from that illegal trading I don't think the FA could afford to get involved in anything like that so they will have to look at the situation very closely. Pompey need to go into admin now and take the 9 point deduction and certain relegation, they appear to be hanging on as long as poss presumably so that those who have invested money in them can get something back by trying to find another investor. Can't see that happening myself and it gets more remote with every passing day, that is exactly what RL did with us, he made business decisions to try to recoup his money which eventually failed, that was a business decision that wasn't in the best interests of SFC. Same happening down the road now.

Not a great advert for the FA Premier league to have one of their clubs going bust so I expect the FA will do everything possible to suppport Pompey. There will of course be a limit to what they can do and like a lot of these things the longer it goes on the harder the fall. I do wonder if they are trading illegally, nothing to do with football rules this, I thought it was illegal to trade when you are knowingly inslovent, that is the reason we couldn't sell season tickets before we were taken over by ML.

I think Norwich sold a lot of very cut price season tickets (for this season) well before they were relegated last year. Lots of fans bought bargain basement tickets at a time when they looked like avoiding relgation. Well done to Norwich for seizing the marketing oppurtunity.

Pretty sure I read that he was thrown out of Fratton Park last time they played, would appear they don't want him either:) -
Er............ just got home from a 3 night stay at Odstock. Seems like I let go after 2 and a half laps of practice at about 100mph so they tell me, cartwheeled a fair way down the track, wasn't knocked out but all a bit sketchy. Good news only broke my little finger, bad news is removed most of flesh from the back of 2 fingers, fingernails tore off, snapped ligaments and real deep gravel rash to both palms and bad friction burns to a fore arm. Good news is Odstock is regional centre for hand injuries and also highly regarded for their plastic surgery skills. They operated on me Sunday night to stitch ligaments back together and sew flesh back on fingers, surgeon says he is pretty sure there is good enough blood supply to bits of flesh for it to heal and also he is hopeful gravel rash and friction burn are just good enough to recover on their own. If not they may do some skin grafts in 2 or 3 weeks. Will need some physio after healing process so may be some time before I can race again. Can remember tumbling down the track for what seemed like ages and am truly surprised my injuries weren't worse, thought I was in big trouble for a bit, lucky eh? Perhaps some of that luck will rub off on Saints:) In the meantime if you see a bloke looking poor with 2 bandaged hands it'll probably be me:rolleyes:

I'll be there again, it's number 170 this year mostly white. Jamie Winn stood in for me while I was at the TT and they had a couple of good results so currently lead the championship by 5 points, all to race for then nothing held back, Thruxton is a fast circuit which should favour the long bikes but we have a good engine so should be a good race. Few bumps ,bruises and aches from the IOM but it will be ok by then.

I suspect that it would be illegal to take advanced sales (which is what season tickets are) if you are aware that you unable to deliver the product ie. no football matches. Might not like some of the things that have gone on at this club in recent times but I'm sure those who have control wouldn't lay themselves open to criminal proceedings in such a blatant way!
