I just hope this isn't a repeat of the thrashing we got at an evening game I was able to attend just before our last Cup Final Appearance 6 down inside 30 or so minutes before they took their foot off the gas. And we had a much better team and manager then.

I am actually appalled by the callousness of that story if its true. For a start no sane parent would take a 5yo child into the away supporters seats They don't sit for one thing so he couldn't see anything and he would probably be subjected to a barrage of industrial language Any caring club would make allowances for this. The club has to sell its tickets, they are in the entertainment business. I can't see the problem of sitting next to well behaved away fans anyway, it happens all the time at Test cricket matches. Surely we don't want to return to the days of hooliganism, which was in reality very unpleasant unless the football was secondary to wanting to figh In conclusion I really think that this will be the last time I come on this forum As a mobility impaired elderly man living in (self imposed exile) I used to come on to read the thoughts of those fortunate to watch the game live That is pretty pointless nowadays as so many of the comments are personal insults against our players. The last away game I attended was a farce, I can't physically stand for 80 minutes and if it were'nt for a very nice couple giving my son and I their front row tickets The home stewards were most unhelpful . I may go to some local away games if we're in the Championship but unless thee is disabled tickets available in the front row I shall use my home address to get general sales tickets. Goodbye, this site used to be good.

One of the very few analytic, rational and non emotive posts that you'll ever see on this site. As well Liverpool the moaners should also look at the list of teams City have destroyed. Quite honestly we are just not good enough and survival might be the worst thing. We need to regroup and rebuild the confidence in a very young team in the Championship. My Burnley supporting cousin has enjoyed this season. Also Armstrong and Adams scored for fun in the Championship as has Tella. I agree that the home supporters must be very disillusioned but this is mainly the fault of previous managers. However to watch the last ten minutes of the game on Sky was sickening. Continual City chanting and a nearly empty stadium didn't look or sound good.

I'm trying to decide which is more depressing: The near certainty of relegation or reading the comments on this site. I think its probably this site as Championship football isn't that bad and we might be televised more often and I might be able to get to more away games.

I just wish that correspondents to this list could try to make mainly constructive criticisms and even more importantly stop using foul language to describe our players. We are supposed to be supporters not detractors. We have already got a reputation as very demanding supporters. It was heartening to hear good support on the TV on Saturday. I and my friends always said a win was a win, however fortunate. I know supporting Saints can be disappointing (I too started in Div 3 South), but in retrospect the good times far outweigh the bad times, even when we had Rupert and had to be rescued from bankruptcy. "Do as you would wish to be done to"; is a good motto to lead your life by. How would some of you like to be described as you describe OUR players.

Although I despise the hooliganism of the late 60s early 70s I can still recall the first proper adult fight I ever saw. Football was peaceful and innocent in the early sixties, we still wore woolly hand knitted hats, scarves, and took wooden rattles, and even sang 2468 who do we appreciate, as well as The Saints go marching in. However Pompey used to have a Matalo mascot dressed as a fake sailor, and he went into the Milton end near the front behind the goal. I think he refused to leave after being politely ? asked to leave. A fist fight ensued with (a docker?), and the result was Pompey Matalo with a smashed nose pouring with blood. Two coppers came running and the sergeant built like a brick outhouse escorted the them out without much fuss. A few years after going to a game without wanting to get involved became more difficult. I would go for a short term appointment. My choice would be Allardyce , for all his faults he knows what it's all about, can handle the pressure and lead the players. One thing for sure he wouldn't tolerate any nonsense. Don't know if he'd come but if the carrot were big enough?

Watching The Arse v Manure. I'm afraid we delude ourselves if we think we can ever do anything but make the numbers up in the Prem The Championship might well be more enjoyable and from my personal point of view they might be on TV more often.. I've supported the Saints with my rattle and home knitted scarf from Div 3 South and I shall to my grave, but unfortunately money has taken over now, ad I can't see a billionaire rescuing us.

Thank goodness.for JWP By the way for your information the Jewish tribe of Onan (in the Old Testament) practised spilling their seed on the ground ie coitus interruptus or masturbation so Onana means Wanka 🤪

I completely agree with that. It all started as I remember after a couple of years after promotion, a portion of the fan base always had to hae a whipping boy, the first I remember was Melia, admittedly he didn't bear any comparison with Martin Chivers, even John Sydenham had a fair bit of abuse. I moved away in what were the glory days under McNemeny, but even he had a lot of criticism in his early years. I know from friends and this forum that it has continued. Unfortunately recently there is far too much extremely unpleasant abuse and not enough rational criticism. I wonder how many of the worst offenders would like to be subject to the abuse they hand out. Are they all successful in life and undeserving of criticism-I very much doubt it.

I completely agree. I consider it insane not to be starting Stuart Armstrong, and we should recall most of our loanees. The only way out of this mess that I can see is to revert to a backbone of experienced Prem players and just use a few youngsters. I seem to remember that KWP although young and inexperienced hit the ground running although he had a settled side to join. Bazunu's confidence must be shot, and he needs to be rested. Where has that slick triangular passing that we used to be able to do, now we seem to give the ball away more often than not. At the moment Jones doesn't appear to have any plan to turn things around. Hopefully we will regroup in the Championship next year, but with a new manager. I follow Burnley quite closely partially they aren't a glamorous side and I have family connections and I note that they have been on TV a lot more than us this season, so for me living miles away and having health issues it won't worry me too much as most of the few TV appearances we've had this season have been nightmarish. As a consequence I've watched very few Prem games and if it wasn't for cricket my Sky subscription would be cancelled.

I was hoping we'd part company with Ralph at the end of last season and sign Sean Dyche who was revered by Burnley fans. I think he'd have kept us up. If he'd come he might just rescue us. Anyway we'll swap with Burnley in a few months, and my cousin will have bragging rights.

He won't be here next season. Lets hope we get good money for him

A very pleasing surprise. It looked like a ritual humiliation was coming our way until we changed to a back 5. After that we grew into the game and at the end looked the most likely. Caleta Car and Lyanco brought back memories of the unforgettable Big John Mcgrath and Jimmy Gabriel fearsome combination. Thought the two favourite whipping boys -Perraud and Elanoussi had a very good game. My message to the perpetual critics is that if you want better why don't you donate the odd 20 million quid so we can buy absolute top class.......... Thought not. I think RH is now secure until Jan at least and the players really played for him. Even my dog went mad when we scored -I shouted and he let rip a barrage of extremely loud barks and wouldn't shut up. Really enjoyed it.

I thought he looked off the pace all night, I wouldn't have expected a fully fit KWP to have been beaten for speed like he was last night. RE JWP class is permanent, form is temporary. Doubt he'll go to World Cup which will give him a well deserved break. Unless Stuart Armstong can't last 90 minutes at full pace I don't know why he doesn't start more often, imo he is a very clever midfielder.

The Telegraph reporter said our centre backs relished the physical challenge and gave Haarland orobably his most difficult time so far this year. not having watched the match I can't comment, but would be interested in comments from those who went.

The score was better than i had expected and whisper it only just par for Man City at home. The reports seem to suggest we showed no threat at all. I have concluded that R H has lost our senior players , this is the only logical reason he doesn't start S Armstrong, and partially accounts for JWP and KWP 's under par performance. I trust that Romeu really wanted to go home to Catalonia (can't blame him for that) and insisted on a move. If not it was an egregious error of judgement. R H must go asap before things get even worse.
-
I completely agree, realistic possibility, knows how to play in the PL with meagre resources and won't f up. Still worshipped by Clarets fans according to cousin.
-
Having watched today's on Sky if R H sets up the defence we may even go down 19-0!
-
I think he's had long enough and been found wanting. Hi substitutions almost always amaze me and not starting S Armstrong I find bizarre Personally I'd be far happier with Sean Dyche. My cousin's a Clarets supporter and the fans worshipped him right to the end and most thought his sacking ensured relegation He did an amazing job with limited resources at an unfashionable club where not that many young footballers would be attracted to.

South Cambridge. My son is also a fan. When my parents were alive and in Winchester used to go to quite a few games. Son has young child which makes long weekend trips difficult. My health is not so good any more and at 75 can't stand so going in the Saints end is a non-starter as I found out at my last away game. Amazingly enough one of my neighbours is a Saints fan as were her family back in Southampton.

The Cambridge ticket office which opened for general sale today, the online facility was quoting a one hour wait all day, and when my son tried he was put on another hours wait after. I went to office this afternoon and it was all closed up. So its probably a sell out. I wanted to sit in the main stand as being a Blue badge holder I cant stand for long, and when we went to Arsenal nearly all the Saints fans stood all the way through . If it were not for the kindness of another lady and gentleman giving me their front seats I would have seen nothing. all away fans seating again unless I could get a disabled seat at the front. The fact that the Arsehole stewards didn't care and no fit young supporters were prepared to swap seats I had leaving it to a more mature married couple, left me with a very bad taste in the mouth. I would only sit with the Saints supporters again if I had reserved disabled front seat tickets. the retail park next door has 4 hour parking and is accessjble for the late night Boots, I expect parking to be difficult though. In Cambridge Blue badge holders can park free at any City Council pay meters and also in residents parking spaces .

If you drive be careful of straying into the bus lanes, cameras are always on and fines enforced. It's motorway all the way but probably unpleasant at rush hour on M25/lower M11. Parking difficult near ground. Station is a good walk away but there's a Park and ride on Newmarket Rd I'm confident of getting a ticket but not sure whether we'll be able to get in the Saints end. All the decent pubs are in the centre Fast train from Kings X does it in 45 minutes which is the one to get.

I regard myself as a reasonable and (far too ) mature man who cannot give up following the Saints albeit from East Anglia for about 65 years. I have completely lost confidence in Hassenhutl and I hope he is sacked asap. I have to admit that when the team plays well they play very good football, but his inflexible tactics have been well worked out and he cannot seem to change them, or doesn't want or intend to, and he appears to be completely incapable of organising a defence. After watching Fulham and Brighton at weekend, (although I doubt Fulham will hang on to Mitrovich for long) I consider that we will be relegated this season if he stays. Any pay off is insignificant to the loss of Prem status.
-
Although MOTD only showed the goals, after watching that and also watched Fulham v Liverpool and saw how well Fulham played I consider we will be fighting to stay in the Prem this year. Hasenhuttle's defence planning is similar to the French Generals who relied on the Maginot Line,
