You must be living in a dream world. All of you, in fact. By the beginning of next season, IF we are still in existance, we will be staffed mostly of players you wont even have heard of. No one who is a name or did a half-decent job here this season is going to stay. there will be a massive, massive exodus of players in the close season. including all the decent ones.

i will die whether saints are dead or if the dead die and saints become saints dead saints die saints.

Some "MUG" shots from Hillsborough

I think that Tommy Widderington would be a good choice to be our new manager if we get relegated before next season. What do other people think?

It just goes to show you can't be too careful!

i am genuinely astonished at the amount of support widderington has on this thread. i knew he was popular, but i thought there would be more opposition to the idea, at first
-
But i wasn’t even talking to you. Nobody was. You accuse me of random spamming on a thread but at least all my threads have been on topic, and the topic has been really interesting to debate. Whether you agree with the majority on this thread that Widderington can do a job for us or not. All your posts have just been abuse. Is it that you feel ignored?
-
didnt you used to be a mod? i can see why they let you go. what is the point of just writing random abuse on a thread?
-
no it isn't  there's no 'w' in my username, and what you write is much longer than my username. can't see how you can claim this exactly
-
That would be a mistake, IMHO. Tissier was an excellent player for us, but he doesn't have the necessary experience and his reputation risks being tarnished by a failed stint at manager. I fear that is what will happen to Shearer at Newcastle. Just because he was a good player doesn't mean he will be a good enough manager for us.
-
look, i think widderington would be excellent for this club. i want him here, i swear on my own mother's life. if you have a problem with that, fine. but its my opinion.

some nice selective quoting and editing there, warwick

from what you said it was a reasonable assumption that you were saying that widderington would be good choice (in your opinion) ince has limited experience, not like widderington i think that tommy would be a better choice of the two, as do countless other people on this thread, as you have already seen
-
i live like the bulletproof monk
-
so you agree that widderington is the right man for the job? why didn't you just say that to begin with?:confused:
-
warwick, widderington was a coach at salisbury not the manager. so you can hardly blame him for salisbury 'languishing' in midtable. besides, salisbury have financial problems (just like us). see, you demonstrate an underlying problem. here we have a chance to bring someone in who knows and loves the club, and genuinely has the potential to be world class. but instead of getting behind it, you waste time splitting hairs over trivial issues. i see someone else mentioned paul tisdale on this thread, another good shout. maybe a back up if we cant tempt widderington or if he goes to a bigger club
-
another vote for Widderington. hope the boys upstairs, or the prospective new owners, are reading this and paying attention to the fans (for once).
-
Widderington would sort out this bloody mess, first and foremost. He would get the team fit and sort out or diabolical defence. He would get our midfield passing and our strikers scoring. He would restore pride in the shirt and would bring the fans back through the turnstiles. We have already done half the job by getting rid of Lowe and Wilde. I know I'm not alone when I say that the job will be complete with Widderington installed as manager. Do it now, we might even have a chance of staying in this league (unless we are deducted points, obviously)
-
I am pleased that finally, finally people are starting to talk seriously about Widderington as manager. I used to live in Salisbury and attended a few friendlys and Salisbury looked like quite a sound outfit, players were played in their positions and, although salisbury lost, they had a lot of shots and their keeper was class. Widderington has unfinished business at Saints. He left us as a player in acrimonious circumstances and would definitely relish the chance to set the record straight. I think if Tommy was given time (something our managers never get) and a few half-decent players, we'd be back in the championship in 4-5 years tops.
