It's interesting reading the comments on this thread. I went to St Marys for the first time in about 3 years (don't run your own business if you want to have a life!), and as such I had a chance to evaluate the players that I'd read so much about on here. I was gutted that I didn't have the chance to see Lallana and Chamberlain, maybe next time. For me, there were a few stand out players. Guly stood out for me as a quality player and I would be keen to watch him again. It's a shame that he was stuck out wide, I'd love to see him with a roaming role where he can really influence the play. I was disappointed with Lambert, he obviously is one of the more gifted players in the team, but FFS put in some effort! Fonte was a rock, and didn't miss a thing but I dont think that match was really a sever test of his abilities. Barnard was good and I thought we'd miss him when he went off, however, Conolley was a decent replacement. I'm not sure that you can have Lambert in the team without someone like Barnard. All the people that I went with were all down on Davis, but he didn't seem to do anything wrong. On the negative side, well there was only one really - Butterfield. Almost everytime he received the ball, he knocked it about 2 yards ahead, and looked up to see how far he could kick it. He was defensively OK, but if his first instinct was to play the simple ball and get down the wing we would be a much better team. All in all, I thought it was a comfortable victory. I'm sure 3 years ago when I had a season ticket I would of been more nervous, so it was good to watch the match as almost an "outsider". I want to go again now! -
lol - there's a lot of people that got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning!

We are effectively in second (technically not, but taking a pts per game we are and should expect to be in 2nd when games in hand are taken into consideration), on a great run of form, with a great squad. Whilst I agree that Peterborough are probably our closest competiton, it's in our hands.

Great win, looking forward to a happy Tuesday now. The current form of the top 4 is frightening!

There are a few buzzards in and around Braishfield, though they are very timid. On a good day I watch them out of the workshop window instead of doing work. On bad days, I've got nothing to watch when I'm not doing work.

If you give all teams 2 points for the games in hand, which is about what teams at the top average the table looks like this: Brighton - 60pts Bournemouth - 53pts Huddersfield - 53pts Charlton - 53pts Saints - 52pts Oldham - 48pts Rochdale - 47pts MK Dons - 45pts. With 16 games to play, we play Charlton home and away, Brighton away, Bournemouth away and MK Dons at home, about 1/3rd of our games against other promotion hopefuls. I think it's a straight shoot out between Bournemouth, Huddersfield, Charlton and Saints for second. I cant see anyone catching Brighton. On paper it looks very tough for Saints with so many away games against our rivals, but changing the habit of a lifelong saints fan, I'm confident. Saints to go up in second.

SSN reporting that S****horpe say the offer to Adkins is withdrawn
stug76 replied to Topcat's topic in The Saints
I say **** him and his desire to get the best deal for Scu nthorpe. If he wants to manage Saints the I want him to try and get the best deal for SFC. He could walk out with his head held high, say what a wonderful club s****horpe are and go with a clean conscience knowing he had does his best but a bigger/better challenge had come his way. I don't think anyone would think badly of him. As for this NC bashing, it's very worrying. So much seems to be "known" about what is going on without getting any facts and seems to be typical of Saints fans. -
I'm not aware of anything between them - not being obtuse, just don't know. Is there a link? If people are put off by the chairman as a result of what he says not just in the press but also via "the network" of old players does he really have the best interest of the club at heart or is he following his own agenda. If so, he is abusing/letting down the loyal fanbase that idolise him. Very disappointed. On a brighter note, do you think that Martin O'neil will be getting a season ticket now he is going to be living locally? It would be cool sitting next to him.

Le Tissier just been on Talksport, said he wouldn't recommend the Job of Southampton manager to anyone because of the chairman! Great player, and all that but these sort of comments don't help.
-
Given that the statement mentions stability - is there a chance that AP has been looking elsewhere and NC has got in first?

Is there a similar thread on the Islamic forum about Saints lack of activity in the transfer market?

Hi I have a joinery company, and would be happy to give you some advice/figures/ballpark costings. Do i need to register to send PMs as I cant see how to do it?? Rgds Stuart

If it costs £25 million to build, then that's and extra 1 million tickets at £25 that need to be sold to justify it. If we average an extra 5k of fans per match as a result of the increase in capacity that would be 200 matches or just under 10 years. mode> So the question is, under the current regime, what are the expectations? If we are a top half Prem side, it's probably going to pay for itself. I could see us averaging 35k -40k. Anything less than that, probably not. Is 10 years a reasonable payback? It's an awful long time in football. Could it be seen as a servicable debt????? Personally, I think there is a case for doing it, and it's best done now rather than later, I'd rather be ready for the premier league than get there and then do it.
