  1. We are staying up, I say, we are staying up.....COYS
  2. My only contribution.. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-past/league-tells-city-council-it-cannot-guarantee-loan-1-4173217
  3. How the **** am I going to do any work now??? F5....F5....F5.. If this sort of news doesn't get you excited I can't imagine getting much enjoyment out of being a Saints fan.
  4. Still no answers?
  5. "obviously" I didn't realise you did jokes, but you're a funny guy Turkish. I'm not saying it's the only investment you can make. Anyway back to the question (again), ignoring the fact that I dont believe that you have anything in place for your retirement (largely based on your defensive nature, avoiding the question and what I assume was an attempt at an insult) how do you think people who chose lifestyle over prudent financial planning should be cared for in their retirement?
  6. You seem to be avoiding the issue(s). How are people who don't provide for living accommodation whilst working going to be able to afford to live in retirement? How is my occupation relevant in asking for clarification of VFTTs comment? Lets start there shall we?
  7. I bet he was quick. Bronze medal in the 400m, maybe even silver I reckon.
  8., oh ok.
  9. mmmm, what difference would it make? Have we moved on from trying to work out where you are going to live when you retire without expecting the state to help you? (If we don't assume that all those magical taxes that you have paid are somehow different to the taxes paid by home owners and should be used to house you in retirement)
  10. You can't make a throwaway comment like that and expect to get away with it! ;-) Which problem and how has home ownership used as investment caused it?
  11. Yeah, but some will also have enjoyed a "nice lifestyle" whilst making no provision for later in life. There will be people that are in your position when reaching retirement will be moaning at the government about housing policy when in reality you'll have had your whole life to prepare for it. It's going to happen, it's not going to be a surprise. And don't give me all this "I've paid my taxes all my life" either - if you own a home you still have to pay taxes. You might get your 2 bed flat after all and I hope it's not in a "reasonable area".
  12. If you look a little longer term, what you pay on a mortgage is relatively fixed, there will be swings here and there - at the moment it's good, at some point rates will rise and it wont be as good but rents will always rise with property prices. If you know anyone who is coming to the end of their mortgage, ask them what their payments are and see if you could rent for that sort of money. They will own their house, renters will still have to rent. I can see that we are going to end up with a load of state spongers who on retirement have made no provision for where they are going to live.
  13. It's about choices, if you wanted a house you'd save the money. You say you earn decent money - why don't you sacrifice some of your "nice lifestyle", totally cut back for a few years and save the deposit? Lower your standards a bit and get on the ladder.
  14. That's a bit of a shocker. I think its inevitable that the police will get involved, and rightly so. I used to have the odd flutter on these sort of things, now you learn its not a fair market. Saints legend or not, he deserves punishment, along with anyone else who was involved.
  15. It was quite interesting to watch for about 10 minutes, then he became cringe worthy very quickly. I thought that's how the panelists saw him too. The problem was, once you got passed the shock value of him being there, he didn't have anything to add to the debate (staring at the audience and pulling funny faces doesn't count) BUT it did keep the politicians on their toes. All in all, it's good to have non politicians on there, just not sure Jonny Rotten really worked.
  16. I don't think we'll be challenging with City for the title this year or next year but I think we'll be chasing them.. After that, who knows? rgds Sir Helmet of Delusion.
  17. Surely we will only know who was ambitious or delusional in retrospect? Do you know something that nobody else does? Amused of Helmetshire.
  18. I think the reason Spain are considered boring is that their matches are very one sided, lots of posession and movement. Lovely to watch, but you can't beat a 3-4 "cup tie" of a match.
  19. Presumably, someone has to sell the club to prospective players? I would assume that NC has something to do with this, he seems to be setting the agenda for the club in the immediate future so I wouldn't be a massive leap of faith to assume that he was the one selling the dream to anyone interested in joining would it? I'm certain that NC's involvement is far from utterly pointless, in fact I would consider it to be vital as this time. What is pointless, and seems to be getting pointed out on all of the threads that head this way is your constant sniping and barracking of anyone who would suggest that we might be a tiny bit ambitious or that the club are doing good things and heading in the right direction. In fact, in a lot of threads you seem to acknowledge that the sentiment of what is being said is correct, so what is it about people getting excited about Saints that so irks you? You have become that annoying itch that wont go away. rgds Helmet.
  20. I've been saying the same thing for years. Tennis, athletics, golf - make all sports equal.
  21. I probably would class a floating fan as anyone who enjoys football and for whatever reason doesn't regularly get to follow their "own" team. If I lived in the Manchester area as a saints fan, and a free weekend and fancied watching a match I would probably look at the fixtures that are on that weekend in the area and pick the best one with available tickets. Then, I would class myself as a floating fan. I suppose that could cover any area but it's more likely to be where we are the closest Premiership team. As for your second point I will treat it with the same derision that you treat others and ask whether you literally spoke to all 500 employees or are you just guessing? I'm guessing that there were a significant number of that 500 that you didn't chat to on a regular basis, let alone make small talk about their weekend arrangements.
  22. If I was a floating fan with a spare weekend and an urge to get my footie fix, I would probably look at the games available to me within a convenient distance and pick the best one. Southampton in the premier league are a bigger draw than Southampton out of the Premier League. When you look at the geographic region where Southampton are the closest Premiership team you can expect that we will pick up a significant number of floaters. I'd be really interested to see what Saints could do in a bigger stadium. If finance is available I'd be looking at getting the first year in Premier League out of the way and make plans for an additional 8k. I'm pretty sure we would increase our previous best average attendance significantly.
  23. It's ok, everyone is looking at you, you can stop now.
