Millwall 2 Southampton 3 - Post Match Reaction
Big_Bald_Si replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Rickie Lambert deserves a knighthood. (or at least a pay rise) -
In fairness, to anyone that doesn't live somewhere, everywhere's a sh1thole, bar perhaps South Kensington (and of course, Reading).

Schneiderlin - Saints Biggest Waste of Cash Ever?

Wotton in an emotional return to the club next season then? lol -
Absolutely 100% with you there. Made some brilliant runs, but rarely got picked out. Also thought he was top notch for the second goal. Would have been easy to get to the byline and drill one along the ground aimlessly, but picked his moment and spot and it was a great second goal.

31 - live in Reading. Bullied into being a Saints fan by my old man when I was 6, loved them ever since. First Saints game I think was around 1995 - away at QPR. We lost 3-0. No Matt Le Tiss in the team, I remember Kevin Gallen scoring, Franny B scoring an own goal, and Mark Walters coming off the bench. lol.

"Guly da Prada". Proper scouse.

Simple answer - back up for Lallana is Puncheon. Puncheon's a quality player, much in the same mould as lallana, and I think his movement is on a par with him. So he's had a couple of bad games, still doesn't change the fact he's a more than capable replacement for the boy Lallana. Having said that, for me, an on form, fit puncheon should be starting evey game for us.

Yeah, whilst I'm thoroughly enjoying our resurgence, to say this is one of our best squads ever may be a tad overkill, given we're still in the championship and you could point to several good seasons in the top flight (peak being 84-85 season of course). You never know though, should we go up......
-
Criteria: Whoever has been our best player this season! A lot of people will point to Ricky Lambert as our player of the season largely for his goals. Many might also suggest Adam Lallana, due to his flare. I wouldn't rule out Frazer Richardson at all, whose probably far exceeded everyone's expectations - and I think the same goes for Jos Hooiveld as well, who everyone didn't expect much of, but how many goals have we conceded since he's been back in the team?
-
I'm not sure there's even a decision that can be made. Player's signed until the end of the season are generally on a contract where they can't be recalled/sent back.
-
We got bought - and all our debt cleared. Can't really cut the chord too much more than that can you?
-
Hate to say it, but is it? I'd have expected Southampton to go up from league one at the start of last season, but Brighton? That's a hell of an achievement given their resources. Adkins has done brilliantly, but relative to other football league clubs, we have had money to burn.
-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17111048 I also thought he'd retired! Good player, decent career, and a top, top bloke. Live in Reading, and he's very highly regarded here by all. Good luck in whatever you do netx Murts

That's a cracking signing for them. Guess that means we'll only score 3.
-
Ok, am I missing something here - I'm pretty sure I saw us win this "live" fixture 4-0 on Saturday. I'd better not have dreamed it again!
-
I didn't think we were very good until the second goal, then we were fantastic and the passing play in the third goal was phenomenal
-
Aye, always remember thinking what a cracking signing he was. Striker from Chelsea for £1 million - massive, massive money and was well pleased to snap him up. also believe he scored our first goal in "that" FA Cup replay against Spurs.......
-
For me, I thought we were found out when we played Millwall at home in the league. We were very fortunate to win 1-0 (great pass from Cork for Guly's goal), but they pressed us all game and I thought they made us look foolish. Teams that press us put us off our stride and we panic. If a team sits back, that's when we're at our best. Need to learn how to beat teams that decide to press us all over the field.
-
Seems an odd bid to make. We've plenty of attacking options in midfield. One centre halve in is all we need in my opinion. Should that happen, I'd say we've had a great transfer window
-
"What" - the chance to hugely increase his pay packet and play for a big club, as well as coaching staff he knows and trusts - why, so we've got extra options in our strike force in the form of a proven championship goalscorer. Thimples.
-
lol - it won't happen. To even entertain the thought is ludicrous. Don't know if you've got Saints player, but Billy Sharp was asked about how forward he was looking to forging a partnership with Lambert. Doubt they'd have asked that if they knew he was off
-
lol - just to point out, Sharp's not signed yet. Let's not go counting our chickens quite yet......

Sauce?

saints to win race to sign Jamie Vardy

Steve Morison anyone? Non-league 3-4 years ago, now scoring regularly in the Premiership. Must be 28/29 now as well. -
If you could go out with a player in the current squad, who would it be?
Big_Bald_Si replied to kwsaint's topic in The Saints
Definitely big Raidi. He'd split me in two!
