  1. Super post. I was at the Alfred too and initially, was wondering what was going on. But you're right, all was fine, and then it wasn't. I quite enjoy talking to away fans in the pub, by and large to get their perspective on our club, and their prospects for the game and season. Generally, all good banter. Had absolutely no problem with the Villa fans being there. In fact, never had any problem with any set of fans when they've been let into the Alfred. Best ever set of away fans in there was Claus Lundekvam's testimonial when Celtic were in town. They all piled in there, playing bag pipes, all ****ed as farts, but no trouble at all and a superb laugh.
  2. Fantastic two seasons for Adkins managing us, to think he would be given the chop after 5/6 games is, frankly, ridiculous. That's unless he's sh@gging a player's missus.
  3. You may have a point, but allowing him to spend £30m states that he's firmly behind his manager. If we did go go down, Adkins is the best man to take us back up again. Too many papers seem to think Cortese is a loon and he'll swing his axe how he pleases, largely as he's not the most "media friendly" chairman there's ever been (stemming from the banning of the press malarkey not so long ago, and his general refusal to speak to them whenever they come calling). Adkins will be our manager come the end of the season.
  4. Think the question you've got to ask is why would Nicola sack Adkins 4 games in when he's just let him spank £30m during the transfer window? I genuinely think, no matter how badly we do this season, he won't sack him
  5. This didn't get the laughs it deserved. Lol to you sir, mega lol!
  6. It's not a huge survey (1,200 fans?), expect it'll be based largely on the past couple of years in Championship/League one, when Poyet decided to mouth off about us almost every week.
  7. Interesting survey: http://thechriswhitingshow.wordpress.com/2012/08/28/2012-football-rivalry-census-results/
  8. Ah wasn't talking about footballing style, more the running, looking gangly despite being quite small element.
  9. Was watching the game yesterday, and watching James Ward-Prowse running about, I thought, bore an uncanny resemblance to Brett Ormerod. A combination of the gangly running style, body shape and silly hair did it. Anyone else think that? A chap in the row behind me vocalised the same thing whilst I was thinking it, sure I wasn't the only one!
  10. Charlton have made a bid apparently. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19422123
  11. oh right, so he's likely to be g@sh then? Booo!!
  12. Call me naive, but "Dev"?
  13. Did you watch any of team GB's matches? He was phenomenal against Brazil. Plus, he's only 19! Not sure why we're still discussing it, he ain't coming here any time soon.
  14. £9.5 million??? F'ing 'ell!
  15. I'd quite like us to snap up a few mediocre league 2 players, personally.
  16. Ha, shows what I know!lol. £800k though?Seems a lot considering we could easily have got him on a free and awaited FIFA's verdict on the whole situation, but good to see he's here for an extra year.
  17. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18934111 Doesn't sound like it from here. Wonder why the others have been granted temporary clearance but not Davis?
  18. Good for you mate - original way of making some cash for charity
  19. That'd be a cracking signing. Read the title initially and thought "we're interested in a French club?"
  20. There won't be a hard and fast answer. Depends completely on the player's mentality. As far as I can see, you'll get 3 types: * Those that will buckle down and use it to spur them on to better performances * Those that will seek a new club (e.g. Paddy Kenny as soon as Rob Green signed for QPR) * Those that really, really won't give a sh1t (e.g. Wayne Bridge, whose on mega bucks and clearly doesn't care about his career beyond the expiry of his contract)
  21. how has the Steve Davis deal "collapsed"? He signed a 3 year deal, and it was announced on our website. I understand the whole contract dispute malarkey with Rangers newco, but that all sounds like it'll be a formality
  22. Is this Skate related at all?
  23. Green might be in the England squad, but has anyone considered the number of England keepers that have asked not to be considered that would have been ahead of him? Robinson, Foster, Carson to name a few. All said they didn't wish to be selected and be a "bit part" in the England squad. In Green's last season in the Premiership, he had the highest error rate of any keeper in the league. I'd be happy to take him if he was happy to come in knowing he'd be a be starting as number two, otherwise it's a bit insulting to Davis, who for me (and others), had a fantastic season last season.
  24. Ben Haim's wage packet always makes me smile. Thank you for brightening up my day Turkish
