I’d be amazed if he was instagramming about the result if he was massively worried about the injury...🤞

Still likely many months off, but would a returning crowd help or hinder us now? Can only imagine the palpable anxiety as we knock it around at the back (although most teams do that now).
-
Marvellous. Bloody marvellous. And proper game management at the end.
-
Good to see Smallbone has replaced jwp as ‘overrated young player need to get rid’ on the forum.
-
Also re: the changes, surely the idea of trying these players is that next season one or two will be rotated in at a time, rather than 5. Changing half the team will always weaken its strength and (importantly with how we play) it’s understanding of each other. To say we lack strength in depth is a bit harsh as any one player coming in to the usual 11 would probably be okay (like smallbone has been).
-
Yes disappointing but did we really expect all those changes to have no impact on the style and intensity of the team? Clearly trying a few things out, many aren’t working, but if we’re back to usual Saints against Bournemouth then we won’t be complaining.

Remarkably similar to the goal that OGS once scored for united to win them the CL- now means they may not be in it. Ha.

Content with being by far the better footballing team. Just burnt out by the end.

Chevid beckham with that crossfield pass there

This is insane. Why the **** are league 1 footballers who are young and are in social distancing measures getting tested, and yet NHS workers who could actually help this ****storm are forced to self isolate for 14days if their kid gets a cough rather than get tested themselves. It’s ****ing obscene.

Surely there is a foul on Boufal as he leans in to the ball? Nobody else see that ?

Son waves the imaginary card. Doesn’t get booked.

Sure it won’t. Even at 4-0 they were playing with belief, heads up, so so much better than earlier in the season.

We were very poor, now we're pretty good. What changed?

4 at the back. A braver midfield selection with JWP forced in to the thick of it. Playing on the front foot. Danny ings. -
Immense performance. Must also (quietly) give credit to Lee Mason who really let the game flow

Saints 2 Huddersfield 0 - Match & Reactions Thread

Not sure how we could expect 11 players with no experience of playing as a unit putting in any sort of cohesive performance. All of our recent success has been built on the drill-perfected presses and players instinctively knowing where their teammates are. Even if this first 11 spent every minute after spurs working together they’d have no chance of putting in a first-team worthy performance. -
They’re ‘good’ fouls to give away in safe parts of the pitch. Grubby tactical fouling which all the good teams do. Better than being a soft touch
-
Brilliant brilliant brilliant. A proper premier league team again.

Was always an option to receive the ball, turned and engaged the opposition. Not every dribble came off and seemed hesitant to shoot but he’s still invaluable to the squad. A goal at home in the FA cup would help.
-
Magnificent. Most of the best defending actually came from the strikers and midfield. Didn’t really need the defenders to come to their rescue.
-
Superb. Absolutely superb from start to finish. We should just leave St Mary’s and offer every team a chance to play at home twice
