  1. Asimov Foundation Trilogy (when it was a trilogy).
  2. Adidas Rom 1970s version ala Brian Clough. End of.
  3. based on current squad..we will struggle.... lets see what happens with the bolstering of the squad and i will reassess.
  4. Yes ! good call there. I saw early marillion at The marquee in 81/2? The days before the record deal, with photo copied sheets of the early band newsletter The WEB being circulated..Grendel & Margaret...and the day I met FISH in a record store in Worcester asking him to sign my poster of the Marillion eye... a good band to fill the gap left by a pop orientated Genesis of the 1980s.
  5. ...and now i am going to have to use my 2nd of 3 posts to add The Enid into the 1980s mix... there... now lets hope that saints dont sign someone mega and i cannot join in on the underwhelming for another 24 hours!
  6. Progressive...the art of developing something beyond that which is the norm. So... when did prog start..? What was the norm.... (at the time), what differentiates it from the other moves from the norm....and ever changing scenario...and then dont forget, for some prog became the norm and then what happened? (Punk probably). Ok thats my opener..... for me Prog was a bit like supporting the saints...i didnt find Prog, it found me! I listen to a wide range of music, but it was the likes of YES, early Genesis, ELP just struck a chord (excuse the pun) at a tangent..it just turned my head at the right time. Was it the romance of the themes, the classical/jazz influences to rock music that did it? One thing is sure..I was loyal to the Prog cause, but at the same time I knew when it had lost its way, the romance disappeared, some of the classical/jazz influences were replaced with pop orientated ones... Prog was never replaced in my musical tastes, the masters just ran out of steam. However, devotees to Prog (neo-prog?) kept the genre moving on... IQ/Pendragon/Twelfth Night took up the mantle and (in my opinion) did prog better in the 80s than the Masters (Yes/Genesis). And today... Prog has influenced bands like Elbow who certainly slip into some form of niche that has Prog overtones. There you go theres my set of ramblings.... do with them what you will..but in closing i think you might want to be certain what exactly Prog was Progressing. I suspect that I have only scratched the surface with my Prog Rock experiences, and I didnt even mention some of the more obscure stuff like Tonto's Expanding Headband, so if anyone wants to enlighten me feel free...
  7. One of the many consequences of our financial problems and subsequent relegation was the demise of the more individual OS webpages. Currently our OS looks like evry other FL page..a sort of generic patch. What does everyone else think... now that WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE again, should we break away and reassert the true spirit of our Footie club?
  8. premier league executive Scudamore
  9. Yes I was there and if I remember correctly, Nige sneaked out at the start of the game and gave us a ripple of applause, the fans however, did not respond with any enthusiasm. I remember driving home in the rain, listening to his first 5Live interview, and he was talking about there "being quite a lot of work to do.."
  10. At the final whistle... and I am not ashamed to admit it.
  11. I was there!!
  12. I look at the saturday game like this. Our last game of the season at home to Coventry will compliment our first game of the season at home to leeds. Both on the tv and they will act as bookends to chronicle the chapters of what has been a wonderful season. Whilst the rest of our tv games have been largely underwhelming, these two games will define our season by providing the spine to our rise back to the premiership. keep the faith...saturday completes a beautiful symmetry. If we are going to win only 2 games live on tv this season, then these 2 will do. COYR.
  13. remember this is west ham the masters of snatching a draw from the jaws of victory!! still time...believe..... God wears red and white.
  14. Start with Guly so that Nige can get it out of his system..then change it when we are hitting ourselves against a brick wall..
  15. How can a team vying for the play offs want it more than a team vying for the premiership directly? Did we take our foot off the gass too early as a fresult of the early goal...did we relax to much as we had "the cushion" between us and WHU? It is NEVER simple supporting the Saints!!!
  16. we will be live on BBC on sunday as will all the important games... unless WHU do not win on monday. and if the worst etc...all play off games will be televised as will the final so....leicester had better do us one hell of a favour
  17. A good solid performance against a team which actually tried to play some football themselves at times. Ok..I reckon NA told the lads to try to get the game under control quickly today, because we came out like a steam train. This time we did not come up against a GK who decided to have the match of his life (ie: v Pmuff and Reading), and duly found ourselves 2 up. From there on saints controlled the game, the usual passing game, often around the back, we looked assured and at times PBro were chasing shadows, almost men against boys. However, as in many games, the opposition had their moments and Super Kelvin David made a good save from a corner in the forst half and two very good saves in the second. When our 3rd went in it was game over. Golden moments: Jos's ball control on his chest from a "hail mary" by their GK- the purrs of admiration and delight behind the goal from us all spoke volumes; Lallana's control with the tip of his toe from another high ball made the game look like one of those table football games where the ball is magnetic; The first 10 minutes.... so nice to see a game put to bed so early, especially one so important Away support: loud and with a wide range of songs tonight, well done all. And yes the GK was a wotsit!! Great night well done to Nigel and the boys and a huge pat on the back to everyone that made it to London Road. At least the terrace was covered, the hail storm before kick off got me ****ed through.
  18. Just off to work. I wont be back on here until after the Peterboro game. I have two tickets for the terraces.. so everyone have a good pre-match day. Lets see you all on the reaction thread later today to share the good news of a Saints win...... what time will "Carlsberg" be posted on the forum today? Travel safely Saints fans!!
  19. If there is a thing as failing to perform on tv well think about this...boro game on tv.. last day of season on tv...any play off semmi finals on tv both and play off final on tv....
  20. I am calming down... a 6 point lead is a six point lead...shame it isnt 9, but life is poor when you have to rely on Gus Poyet to bring a bit of sunshine into my saturday afternoon!!!
  21. Do not rely on WHU or indeed broghton to do us ANY favours. Now that is the Southampton way!!! Ball still in our court, it is up to us!
  22. What is your point????
  23. My tickets arrived this morning.
