  1. Assisted suicide, you reckon? Think we could get some volunteers in?
  2. A point at home to Coventry and some posters are happy???????? How their ambitions have shrunk, eh? We are in total sh!t trouble here. Or i suppose some will say "total football got us a goal". Oh dear oh dear oh dear.
  3. Disagree strongly, Offix. there's debt and there's debt. Borrowing to build a bigger stadium, get bigger crowds and hence more income is an investment rather than just crapping the money away. Arsenal is a good example. SMS was necessary. The rot started, i reckon, with a lack of ambition in the prem, buying cheap moderate players who, with a bit of bad luck in the relegation season, were not up to it. Now we SHOULD be in a great position for tempting a takeover: cheap to buy, nice, modern stadium, able to fill it, decent "franchise" area with no local competition (ahem). But of course then there's the corporate structure which trashes most possibilities - just puts people off to begin with IMHO.

    Stern gone!

We don't need him - the team are scoring for fun these days. Eh? What? They ain't scoring for fun? Ohhh...... sounds like yet another step backwards then. Decision not to renew STs looking better every day - I am beginning to not give a ****.
  5. Not very nice.
  6. Please remind me exactly how someone could "invest"? Its a PLC so either they could (a) try and buy shares, the money then goes to the old shareholder (b) donate money to the PLC. Not invest - give. Then its up to lowe how to spend it, and his job position says he should act in the shareholders best interests.
  7. Oh come on, show some sense. Poortvliet and Wotte are Dutch Dutch means "come from Holland" Holland = home of "total football" Total football is by definition exciting, attractive, attacking, open, world-beating football Therefore Poortvliet and Wotte will bring us world-beating football. Yup, thats the logic, and i can't see it either, but them darn snake-oil salesmen make a pretty good living conning gullible people out of their hard-earned dosh. Well anyone with half a brain would grasp the concept of the counter-example: Edam = Dutch but it ain't total football Clogs = Dutch but they ain't total football Plenty of thingies in Amsterdam = Dutch but they ain't total football Doesn't stop the con-man making his fast buck.
  8. Me too. And well done St J. What i wanted to so at the end of last season but I just didn't bother and lost interest. But there is life after death here: doesn't matter if SFC get relegated again or more. They will outlast SLH even if its in the whatever Hants league south
  9. i think he wants the players to do something at 2.55 rather than 5.05. I think he wants the players to stop spouting sihtty cliches. I think he want the players to shout "mine" rather than this "look long, dig deep" ******** after the game. I think he wants a professional attitude before and during the game, not introspection after a total ****ing load of boollox. Well, that's what i think but correct me if i'm wrong.
  10. Hmmm. what's "total football" meant to be about then? passing it around in the centre cirlce then all falling over? Monty Python did that and didn't win any cups with it.
  11. quite right - you want to play the cutting edge footy in the LAST THIRD OF THE PITCH, Not the MIDDLE THIRD. Aarghhhhhhhhh. The only good news is that i reckon there are 3 other really really bad teams in the CCC so it would take a monster balls-up to get relegated from this ****.
  12. No, I don't back him at all. - zero organisation at the back. You can complain about the quality of the players avaibale, but the coach's job is to ****ing get them organised FFS. - next to no cutting edge up front. balls into box are great but there is noone there FFS. Again this is organisation - if you are going to play 451 at home then you midfilders (more than one of them) are going to have to make runs into the box - no bloody idea at all about chaning things when we are 3-0 donw. FFS. "Leave it to the players" is what he siad on Solent radio. WHO THE FUKC IS THE BOSS HERE????? Jeez, I could go on but what is the point
  13. I know how to get the crowds up: anyone thinking of making a takeover bid buys a ticket and goes. get the matchday experience, the taste of the club for little dosh. The stadium would be full. Allegedly. On the other hand, if RL said he would stay away, would that attract more punters?
  14. I think you might find that some of the ST holders/posters on here are pompous and arrogant and make jibes at people who aren't ST holders......
  15. ..and your assertion was "Low attendances are down to one factor only". Well obviuosly its wrong if there is a factor other than poor performances. Add AwaySaint's 4 to me and her indoors and thats 6, plus many who don't read this forum or can't be arsed to post. And i am terribly sorry I don't do exactly what you do, but if you thought about it a bit you might come to the conclusions that (a) you can support a club without going (b) other people might have different (valid) opinions than you © telling people to "grow up" because they don't share your opinions is, well, pretty naive at best. bad footy? Sure, that's a reason some people won't go because they might possibly think there is some alternative thing to do and some alternative thing to spend their time and money on. But we have had pretty crap performances at home for many years now - worse in the relegation season than last I'd say - yet attendances are at a new low. Maybe there is more than one reason, VS. (Oh, and if anyone can provide any evidence at all - economic indicators, employment rates, defaults on loans etc - that Southampton/Hampshire is being hit significantly worse than anywhere elase in the country except for Morecambe where is it? more assertions which are not based on fact or even any shred of evidence, just bland assertions.)
  16. Its Richard's (50th) birthday too today. Happy things to both. I dont think Richard cdajfu or anyone to be honest
  17. Well I only browse here occasionally and sign in rarely, so that is £5 saved because lack of enthusiasm. But the comments about the beer/food/catering at SMS are spot on. It is total sh!te and the club are missing a real opportunity. Spent 7 months in the states some years ago and tried all sorts of sports there (as a specatator): american football, baseball, basketball, ice hockey, whatever. Its not just the seat and the game, but the whole match day experience is great. But at SMS, to be honest, its a pretty bloody ordinary concrete stadium, the beer and food is crap and so 1-dimensional. If the game is great who cares, but if it aint (and it aint) then some improvement here would (a) bring more money into the clubs pocket and (b) make it a generally better experience. But will it happen? Will it ****!
  18. You missed out arrogance and a total contempt for almost everyone else. An execrable human being, but a good left back, until the backpass....
  19. Hmmm. Total cr ap really. I think we need to get a realistic view of what we can achieve and play to our strengths which are, errr, ummm, ....... get back to you on this. i suppose its a cheap way to run a footy club, which is pretty much what you get from RL. Cheap and nasty.

    The Far Post

i think that about answers the question
  21. How's about this then: you can't print the fixture list from the OS (or at least i can't). the result is that for a casual fan (plastic or whatever material you think fits best) they have to go to some non-zero effort to find out when the saints are next at home. Non-zero effort means some won't do it/can't be bothered/the kids are screaming/the wife is shouting/whatever. Print it out, stick it on the bog wall and you can make your plans at leisure.
  22. Acceptable? Unacceptable? Who the f7&^ are you to say what is or is not "acceptable"? People are generally grown up enough to decide for themselves how to spend their lives, their time and their money. No, haven't been this season and will probably do away games before home games, but its my choice. You can go feel smug, holy and self-satisfied if you like, but, jeez, get some perspective.
  23. Dunno what you mean - Wolves are walking this league.
  24. Hmmm. So the Scooby/Lowe/Golden Duo vision is that 8 points from 8 games in the CCC is the goal, the target, the aim. A win away to Doncaster (no disrespect intended) is the summit, the peak of achievement. Good grief. Give me the Wolves version of (scooby-derided) football any day.
  25. So market forces mean that we get crowds of 14k in a 32k capacity stadium? Doesn't this tell you ANYTHING????? it tells me that £26 or so per head is overpriced for the sort of crap we get to see.
