  1. For a while he was a bit lump like I guess. And stereotypes are nice easy solutions too
  2. And don't get me started on apostrophe's FF'S
  3. Programmed the old computer back 4 weeks ago. Put in all available data including weather forecast, GDP predictions and the state of the astral plane. The answer popped out a few minutes ago: Di Canio. Will stroll down the bookis and bung a fiver on. Oh
  4. You're right of course - we scored so many more after he went off. Actually I think he's fine, as is osvaldo, and Lovren is clearly good value. Don't hink he is impact player though. Although TBH i don't really give a toss after 3 points. Savour the moment.
  5. Sort of a lose-lose situation then. Jeez
  6. And only 22. For some stupid reason I thought he was a lot older (27). He's got years to improve as well
  7. Interesting articel though
  8. The mantra "it all evens out in the end" is nonsense, as any statistician would tell you. (Suppose there are N random 50-50 decisions, either of which might be in your favour or out of your favour. The standard deviation after these decisions is the square root of N. So for each team there is no averaging out. There is of course averging out in that what is good for one team is bad for another, so the sum of all favourable and unfavourable events is zero, but that isnt true for each and every team. Another way of thinking about it is tossing a coin: you toss it 5 times and get 5 heads. Does that mean it is more likely the next toss will be a tail? Nope.)
  9. I'd have thought this is pretty much common sense: you go up, don't know how things will go, hang on to "cheap" players in case you go down, when you don't then move them on and upgrade. (Then of course you get relegated, have an expensive squad and are in the financial poo.....)
  10. I reckon 4 million in 2001 would be 8-9 million now. Ish. So its not a lot in it (especially maybe because the perceived cost of falling out of the premiership is higher)
  11. Wow. Its clearly a long hot summer over there....... And in them alps apparently.
  12. Defended? Ughh? If it was 200 million it would need a bit of defending, but 20 mill is probably only a bit above average for a moderately ambitious premiership team.
  13. Well, he was seen getting into a taxi at Barcelona airport some days ago.....
  14. Oh yes it is. Its not the "utterly incredible last ditch clearance" we are talking about here, its tackling the man who makes the pass to the man who makes the pass to the man who makes the run/shot that requires the "utterly incredible last ditch clearance" we are talking about here. Or getting the tackle in 30 yards from goasl instead of standing off and letting the man make the run that forces the penalty. Of course it isn't spectacular like the "utterly incredible last ditch clearance" but its what saves heaps more goals nad its what makes good defending. Borign but true.
  15. Nice forum this. Very nice. Lots of people united by their common love of their club coming together to share the joy. Oh, err, no, that should read to abuse each other behind the anonymity of their computer. jeez. Get Lives. Bye.
  16. "Solbakken revealed that, because Norway’s top division had finished its season in November last year, it was agreed at the time of Forren’s arrival that he was being signed with a view to next season, rather than the one just finished." Ughhhh??? November, and he can't play before May because he's 'going on holiday' or something?
  17. Taxi drivers, "reliable source"? WTF?????????????
  18. I reckon percent possession is pretty meaningless. It's what you do with it. Game last year Chelsea beat someone by 5 something and40% possession. Get the all pass pass score stroll back to centre circle
  19. "Plonker", "Idiot". Both much more accurate than any of his "random guesses", err, sorry, "predictions"
  20. Go fishing. Walk the Cornwall coast. Voluntary work for the aged incontinent. Go fishing. Golac's suggestion. Man, if you are really so dependent on the footy you need to seriously examine your life. Badly. then go fishing
  21. I agree. Ambitious and realistic. Say "top 4" and the team will all say "yeah! Top4!" but inside they are saying ("this guy is in the wrong planet...."). "yes boss! "
  22. Errr, he does have a valid point though
  23. Unrealistic, i htink. I disagree: your whole tenet is that it requires NC to be there for ALL the other things to happen, and clearly that is wrong. Witness NA's departure and the way the team just went and played football. Cortese goes, new chairman arrives, new chairman says "we want you to establish us in the top 8", bungs some money, so why shold that change ANYTHING in Pochettino's plan? Are you suggesting it is "i only want to ssucced if Cortese os here". Of course not. loyalty is bought in this game every day of the week, and would Mp be any differebt. More likely he has been told what to say, or is just blowing with the wind. As i would if i was on his salary with his boss.
  24. Yes, I think stability, continuity and a long-term vision/plan will influence players coming to the club. But we will only get that stability if NC (and not just him, the trust etc etc) are committed. If he is not committed, then it is potentially destabilising, hence the situation needs to be resolved, and much of that is down to NCs decision. Wrong analogy maybe, but the ManUre chairman doesn't pack this sort of sad. (Is he Swiss? Dammit, I thought he was Italian!)
  25. Just a thought: where would NC go? Does he want a job in football and if so does he have something lined up? If not then he is pretty dangerous ground. Whatever, the more i think about it, the less concerned I am (or is that the beers - different time zone here). more concerned to see MS and LS playing for us next season.
