  1. Kelvin Davies. I know this is very true of Rickie also, but I dont think we would be anywhere near the playy-offs this season without his point-saving performances, particularly in the first half of the year when we had less firepower to rely on. Likely to be overshadowed this time around, but still vitally important in my view.
  2. Quality set of photos - I have stuck some more on my blog http://redandwhitebill.blogspot.com/ What a result. I was there with a bunch of Yeovil friends who sponsored the matchball. Didnt want to **** them off when we scored, but a fair few Saints fans in the yeovil end going ab-so-lutely mental. Any other ground in the country they would have been chucked out, lucky Yeovil stewarding so amateurish. Fair few Yeovil fans were on verge of having a go, but even my friends had to draw the line when some bloke called them 'inbreds.' Even they admitted that was a bit rich!
  3. Class chant, best in ages
  4. Tim, how is Ron doing these days? Last heard about him over in New Mexico in Jeremy Wilson's Cult Heroes book. Whats the latest?
  5. Disagree with the initial contention of this thread. 9 points off yes, but think how the teams and points total spread out as the season goes on. Pardew still converting a sinking ship - we had a real good run leading up to that 9 point gap but that bucked a trend (as when we were 18 points behind recently). 10 or so points off playoffs (ie achieving playoffs if it werent the points penalty) acceptable for this season. Thats the bottom line re pardew. Besides who else are we gonna get? Do these people want fergie or something? Mourinho?
  6. If he's blog-flogging, I want in http://www.redandwhitebill.blogspot.com Stick that in your favourites too
  7. Trains were a nightmare. We had decided to drive and took up 2 friends who couldnt get on their trains. Getting to and away from wembley much smoother than anticipated
  8. Promotion this year - I want to go back to wembley - and its not impossible...
  9. Is the away end likely to sell out once they open up terrace? And how likely is that?
  10. There were (deserved) boos for Mawhinney, but definite boos for cortese were discernable from a section of fans. Totally counterproductive, why today? I dont have a problem with those who disagree with him but today was not the day to publicly direct those sentiments in his direction
  11. The guy only ever contributes tap-ins, offsides and dodgy goal celebrations... and still manages to be a complete cult hero. The word legend is overused in sport and would be entirely inappropriate here, too. Star, the nonetheless.
  12. Just got my 3. 01271 number got me through in the end - after waiting for 20 minutes. Was kept on hold on 0800 number also for 10 mins 3 times but was told "busy" each time. But don't give/hang up, if you are ringing on 01271 and waiting you will get through eventually!
  13. What is the magic number? Is it the 0800 or the local one (and what is that?) Cheers
  14. That was unbelievable. Tension. Drama. Magic of the cup right there (cliche copyright jim beglen)
  15. Probably do as much of a job as Agustin Delgado... good work Do you sell hot tubs?
  16. Just rang ticket office to help relatives with tickets, only had 2 seats together in block 1 - will be a virtual sellout
  17. The problem with this argument (both sides of it) is that we don't have full access to the facts. *IF* there is no more to this than meets the eye and Cortese has gone off the handle over a simple request for a delay then he is clearly in the wrong. Even if he has slipped exclusives to the Echo in the past it is no excuse for losing it over having a request refused - we live in a country where the press is free to report on whatever they choose and he has no right to control that. If it was a fit of pique what a silly thing to have one over. And as for those who say he has the right to ban whosoever he pleases, well, yes, technically he has that power as SFC chairman. But come on. Beyond the Echo, SFC is hardly well served by local print media and I believe, if the initial assumption holds true, he is doing the fans a disservice by making reporting, and thus their knowledge of their team, harder to come by. However, *IF* there is more to this than meets the eye and Cortese or the Echo is using the training ground as a pretext for the fall out the Echo may be to blame. I am struggling to think of a decent example but maybe the Echo did something to justify the ban - might one of their reporters may have called Cortese's wife ugly? Either way, the burden of proof lies on NC to reveal the full reasons. If there are none, or he does not reveal them if there are, he will continue to look bad as a result of this. I am thankful to mr liebherr and his team for saving saints but that should not preclude me from pointing out that this is not how I want SFC run. The Echo, in my view, does the club and its fans and the south in general a great service through its in-depth reporting of Saints. COYRs
  18. A really good read, and well-written. Keep it up. I have been keeping one for a while now at http://www.redandwhitebill.blogspot.com . If you are in the market for another Saints read, take a look...
