The writing was on the wall the day we sold the club to a Chinese business man who has no personal loyalty to Southampton or the club. The city lost it's club then and if it's ever to recover it will be after Gao sells. Can anyone see any successful future with him in ownership? So the manner in which he sells is the big issue for us now. The timing of it and how much Gao intends to suck out of the sinking ship.

Will be interesting to see who is dropped. Surely he can't put the same team out? Surely!

If true it's a gamble. Doing nothing will mean relegation though, and who knows what Gao would do then. Not difficult to see a scenario where we're all but dissolved within a year. Throw money at it and fail? Also not difficult to see a scenario where we're all but dissolved within a year.

I wonder if it might have handled it differently. Halting the match makes the event about the racism and not about the football, at least temporarily. From the viewers perspective, wouldn't it have been better to ignore it while the match is on and deal with it harshly afterwards....make arrests, media coverage etc? If you can make arrests and get people out of the stands, great, but keep the camera's off them. Don't give them coverage. Ignore them in the same way we do with streakers. By all means talk about it afterwards. It's not that I'm upset because the game was interrupted, it's just that these idiots are given time and coverage they don't deserve.

Mixed feelings. Enjoyed the Northam in L1 and Championship and have some of my best memories of Saints in those times...but we were winning most of the time and signing good and interesting players. That said, being 2nd under Koeman for much of the season a few years ago was something else. For now I think we're better off surviving in the prem, enjoying the occasional season when we can crack the top 10, embarrass a few of the top 4 and throw in a cup run or two.

The "service" in the concourse is so diabolical at the moment. I wouldn't trust Saints to cater for my dog.

I think our generation have timed it just about right. A few decades of nice summers and Mediterranean temperatures before the impending global catastrophe. Seriously though, as poster above said, matters like these need to be taken at a national and even global level. I keep reading China is taking big strides towards renewables, but there will be plenty of developing countries that want to boost their economies as quickly as they can and won't want to be denied the fruits of fossil fuels in the same way other societies have benefited from over the decades. Plastic production, I think we could be a lot tougher on manufacturing a lot sooner. Ban all the plastic production of tat we don't need virtually over night. Be as strict as is necessary. Force the market to look for other, sustainable alternatives. Humans survived well enough before plastic production on this scale, we might just need to live a bit differently. So be it. Those crusties though, gluing themselves to roads and whatnot. You have my permission to run over their limbs.

Went to the National Museum of the American Indian in Manhattan recently. I was surprised at how little regret or apology seemed to be on offer in the place. Yes there was some acknowledgement of Wounded Knee massacre for example, some historical information regarding the colonisation and treatment of the natives but most of it was artwork and costumes and things. Thought the Americans missed an opportunity there.

Slapping women was also acceptable not so long ago [below, Sean Connery approves]. Not sure the state needs to get involved though if society is moving away from the slap in any case, which it is.

I'd like to think Vic could still dajfu stood next to Romeu in the middle. Same age as Romeu!
