  1. Seems a bit odd that someone going to the bother of organising a flag to wave at the game, chooses the Military WWI version rather than the accepted flag of Japan. I wonder what point they were trying to make?
  2. Gutted! Pretty cross with Lambert about this. He only lives up the road from me, I'm going to go round his house and shout something rude over his fence.
  3. I'm all for R.E. If anything, the more we educate ourselves about religions, the more it becomes clear that it is a completely man made phenomenon rather than a supernatural one. But of course one can believe what one wants, and this should be respected and I think the lessons make that clear, which is good. What I'm less pleased about is the statutory requirement for state run schools to worship.
  4. Does anybody really read more than two books per holiday? Perhaps we should be visiting more interesting places. Bletch made a valid comparison with the evolution of electronic music. I'm going to put forward the electronic photo frame. Always going to get produced, because it is capable of being produced, and because people will buy it at Christmas, but again seeks to solve a problem that doesn't exist, and two years later it's generally regarded as a waste of good electricity, yet interestingly also scores close to 5 out of 5 in just about every online survey you'll read.
  5. The Kindle doesn't solve a problem for me. I only read one book at a time, so there is no benefit having more than one on available at any one time. I have never had a problem finding the book I want in book shops/online/libraries. Books don't really take up that much storage at home, and to be honest look fine against a wall. I can't think of a single reason to buy a Kindle and I'd go so far as to say they are a fad which will be gone within ten years.
  6. I'm not sure it's a British born thing. I went to a lecture once, given by a Doctor who looked and sounded like he came from India or thereabouts. Throughout he would say "isn't it?", but not always seemingly as a question or for affirmation, it was as if the term had lots of meanings and contexts. But "isn't it" sounded much more polite than "innit" and it sounded good, so much so that I felt I wanted to use it myself.
  7. Cats are pretty quick, unless it's seriously unwell I suspect the chances of a clean hit with a spade are slim, and an initial glancing blow is likely to cause suffering. Throw it into one of those tree shredders. Following the recent strong winds there are loads around at the roadside or nearby. A quick ten quid into the hand of the operator and you have the most humane method you can ask for.
  8. Wouldn't they be a little heavy for that type of procedure?
  9. How is ones taste in print journalism not just as subjective?
  10. Give him another chance tomorrow. He may just need to sleep on it.
  11. Lol, excellent. And what makes it better is, if you look closely, the ball actually starts bouncing back towards the goal and ends up in the back of the net!
  12. This is not a subject for humour. Period.
  13. Is it a British Pulldog? My wife knows of someone who did the very same thing, got their lead trapped in the boot and dragged it around for three miles before they noticed. The dog had to have a check up at the vets but was practically unharmed. I wonder if the dragging qualifies as a walk for that day. I say it doesn't because it wouldn't have time to do its business.
  14. Society allowing itself to be dragged down to the level of the criminal. The remedy for acid throwing is to throw more acid. Not ideal, I don't think. That said, what would happen if it was here? Ten years GBH, reduced to six, of sitting around thumb twiddling? Not ideal either.
  15. The existing badge is fine, I like it. Add a nice red and white kit and we have just what's needed for next season. So much change recently I'd appreciate some kit/badge stability, if you please.
  16. European law would disagree with you, it's been well documented recently, have a google, and I suspect any such move against the elderly will be met with the same response. Personally I am in agreement with Europe on this, as I am with most of that which has been passed by the European Courts recently. Out of posts now unfortunately.
  17. It would be discriminatory to make people of an age of your choosing undergo tests to prove their competency regards driving, in the same way as it is discriminatory to presume that young males, for example, should pay more insurance because they cause more accidents. If a doctor decides that someone is not competent to drive because of a symptom (which may be a symptom common with aging) then he can take away your licence and this is fair. To make the presumption that an elderly person might be unfit simply because of his age and no other reason is not fair.
  18. We've definitely won more games than 0, perhaps it's a misprint.
  19. On a similar note, I've never heard a decent argument for a league points system at all. Can someone explain why it wouldn't it be better for league places to be decided purely on goal difference and remove the points system entirely?

I've written to the club before regarding addtional pre and post match uses for the pitch. My idea was that, for say a pound a head, a system could be set up where supporters would be able to turn up an hour early with picnic baskets, rugs and things, sit on the grass and have a relax, perhaps with some Michael Buble through the pa. It's such a lovely kept green it seems a shame for it to have such a small window of use.

There's nothing that demonstrates complete faith in the Lord above quite like 10 inches of bullet proof glass.
  22. I always thought Jaidi provided a solid partner for Fonte. I'd be happy to have him back in the 11.
  23. Game needs a goal.
  24. Put in my details and got nothing via e-mail. I even did it again with the missus' details for good measure and I've (via her) also received nowt. I notice there is nobody on that 'Have some free booze' website to complain to. Poor form.
  25. Rooney's little twinge doesn't bother me. England doing without him doesn't bother me either. I'd love to see Man Utd lose out on the Champions League though, and then not win the league. Then I'd like to see them go bust.
