You usually hear about at this time of year that the pc brigade have stolen Christmas from us and we have to start calling it the Winter Festival or something, in case someone gets offended. Thing is, I think I'd rather have a winter festival than all this Christmas business. As something to celebrate it's a complete non-starter for me. It seems a little arbitrary celebrating the shortest day of the year, but less so than the birth of baby Jesus for me.

In league 1 I seem to remember £22 being about the going rate and I thought that was alright. Reading at home the other day was £36.50 including fees, and it did seem a bit steep, so I guess if I was to put a figure on what the game deserves I'd go for £30 dead.

At a time when we were watching the clock and trying to maintain the 1-0, don't forget. I thought he did play well, I also thought he showed more potential than J-Rod.

They saw you coming.

Suspect regular cannabis use LESS harmful than alcohol on health and society, I meant to say. (can't edit)

I would like it to be legalised here, and able to be bought over a counter. People should be allowed to get high if they want. It is a meddling government which tries to tell us what drugs we are allowed to have and which we are not, given all the information which is available in this day and age. It would give those who want to get high an alternative to alcohol, and personally I suspect regular cannabis use is more harmful on society and on our health than regular alcohol use. They'd need to sort out some sort of breathaliser for it in the same way they do for booze, if it doesn't already exist. Other than that, I say bring it on.

His performance certainly didn't scream out "start me in the first team Saturday" for me. Perhaps we're in for the long(er) haul.

Surely you'd use tenners and get twice the wipe for your money.

Fonte to score in the 92nd?

We're on a roll. Barring injuries I don't think they'll be able to stop us tonight. 3-1 Saints.

Used to get this on the Underground a lot. Expected delays, 'person under train' at such and such station. You never heard much sympathy from the commuters. I bet nearly every tube driver employed has had to go through that horror at least once.

Garth Crooks is impressed, features in his team of the week along with Puncheon. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20388330

It's good news for people. Bad news for pigs. Most of the readers of this site are people, so I suspect will be largely in favour of the practice. My gut reaction is to ask what gives human animals the right to use other animals in this way. I'm sure the answer is, well we can so we do. I can appreciate the argument that humans are top of a food chain and therefore eating other animals can be perceived as being natural and normal. But using animals like this for some perceived medical benefit, philosophically seems a bit 'out there' for me and exploitative.

Any update after today? One game is only one game, but I thought Gazza showed his inexperience today. Obviously much potential, but would you rather some older hands right now?

This one's worked great for me so far. Thanks.

You sound like Hitler.

I don't like being expected to toe the line with things like this either. It bugs me when people get criticised for not joining in with something popular. As far as I'm concerned the issue is not why he chooses to remove the emblem, rather the brass neck of people who can't accept that people might have a different view from them. [aimed at the twitter abuse he got]. Personally I don't like wearing the poppy either, and do you know what? It's nobody's business why.

For all of the worried folks on the main board

PM is far to limiting. You'd be better off giving us the story here and letting nature take its course. Even I have some expertise in certain fields.

There was a bit about her on the news tonight. A rare good news story. A girl in Pakistan wanting and promoting education, shot by the Taliban who want that sort of behaviour silenced, now in England recovering and continuing with her studies. The story is apparently receiving coverage globally, good.
