  1. I have a copy on my toilet wall, opposite, good for when i forget to take a book in with me. I find that there's a line for every situation.
  2. That 'Markus Liebherr, St Mary's Stadium'. Never let the men's memory fade. The very least he deserves in my opinion. He not only saved this great Club, he gave us fans our best day out since 1976.
  3. Many a true word and all that... No offence taken Tac-Tics, I'm not an owl though.

    Desiderata

Maybe we could all do with reading this and taking some of it on board. desiderata - by max ehrmann Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass. Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. Feel free to move this but I thought some may not be familiar with this brilliant work and might benefit from it. Not that I myself am perfect of course, but I am as near to it as you are likely to come across in this World.
  5. How much do you seriously think he would ask per week, including image rights? Image rights could be clawed back partly through syndicating player and match pisc I suppose though. Oh!
  6. /\ as opposed to your other tosh, yeah?
  7. Have Princess and Avencis still got the contract? I noted that they are advertising pitchside so I'm guessing so. Well done if so lads, a decent local company providing a decent service.
  8. Why is this in the Muppet Show. hauntes buildings is a serious subject. take the p at your peril.

    Libellous posts

And so say all of us. Now that the culling season is under way can we also put an end to those self-proclaimed comedians who have more thn the required ONE identity? I for one like to know who i am reading and talking to, even if it's just an internet persona, it would at least lead to a bit of consistency. Or does the rule only apply if one is not 'pally' with the site owners/mods/admin etc?

  11. I reckon that he (the county councillor) was stating what the rest of us already know. We have probably all been behind someone driving within the speed limit who, when spotting a camera, hits their brakes suddenly as an automatic reaction. I think that it demonstrates that most drivers drive safely and within what they judge to be a safe speed, the cameras on the whole are a distraction. I am not against having traffic calming measures at certain potential hotspots (i.e. outside schools) but even then one has to ask why there is a 20 limit outside a school 24 hours a day. And although I tend to not exceed 80mph on a motorway, usually keeping up with the flow of traffic, I also think that motorway limits should be increased. The 70 limit was introduced when many cars were perhaps not so easy to control/handle at speed and was maybe appropriate but not now. I am no angel and my licence has had quite a few blemishes but like a majority I think I am a safer driver than the driver behind or in front of me. It's human nature I suppose. Thinking a little deeper into the subject of these cameras, have they not been used many times in court cases to prove someone's whereabouts? If memory serves, they were used in the recent case of Paula Poulton.
  12. I heard the leader of Oxon County Couincil on R4 this morning talking about their speed cameras. OCC is scrapping them, they may put more officers on speed camera duties but the yellow boxes are costing too much. They apparently are responsible for the admin and issuing the tickets etc but the income generated goes to central government (i think that is what he said). He added that in his opinion and in his experience cars simply slow down on approach and speed up again when past. Isn't a bit crazy that we will have different Counties using different methods of enforcement?
  13. Romani folki parked up alongside one of the south's oldest roadways shocker!!!! They've probably been doing this since before Romsey and Baddesley were even thought about. People concerned with their reputation of leaving a 'mess' behind might want to consider how us supposedly 'decent' people deal with our household waste, old fridges and building rubble. We pay some licenced councillors brother-in-law to take it away and dump it in a big hole in the ground for our future generations to deal with. Out of sight out of mind and all that. i bet there is more crap chucked out of car windows along the M27 in a typical week than any group of travellers leave behind them. It's called an alternative lifestyle because it is errrrr alternative ie different to the accepted norm.
  14. i know her florist and she reckons they delivered her a dozen red roses last week with a card that read "Thanks for the new ears xx Niki Lauda"

  16. The language options are English (US) or erm English (US)! Is this an homage to Rob Green, lest he forgets?
  17. Not that it matters one jot, but I am surprised at 2 omissions; the Red Nose and Sir Bobby Stokes. No doubt this will run and run due to being close-season, roll on Thursday's Fixtures being announced. Good site made even better steve, well done and thanks. all we need now is a payment plan for our subs.
  18. Taking the question as it was written (hypothetically) and not provocatively, I can think of a couple of positives in the WWII score being reversed. 1 - We would be able to laugh at ourselves much better than we currently do. For example, we are renowned for our sense of humour and the Germans are renowned for their silly leather shorts, a great combo imho. 2 - We would not only have a great match to look forward to in the World Cup, we would be rightly confident of winning the damned thing. World Cup Final 2010 - The United Sates of America vs The United Sates of Germany.

Could you draw us a picture of Anthony Pulis please MBS? It would be much appreciated.
  21. Anyone au fait with the red/yellow card rules? what was our final tally?
  22. tbf Green did flap at the ball like a skate out of water. Got to stay positive though, no point watching if you're not positive imho. I'm sure Capello didn't plan to draw this one but maybe, just maybe, Rooney was instructed to play dead? The USA coach did say in the build up that to have any chance they'd need to tame Rooney, so it might figure that we gambled on letting him jauntilly run around, thus staying out of trouble. From here on in there are no second (or third) cmances and hopefully we can come out all guns blazing next week.... .........with a change of keeper, but I think that goes without saying. Thought: Has 'flapper' Green just added a couple of noughts to Kelvin's price tag?
  23. B = Block 1. L = Lunatic fringe. C = Budgie (NOT that Budgie, the swearfilter Budgie).
