Not sure what would makes you think (if you do) that he might be in the running. I'd even rather have Phil Brown...but on second thoughts.......!

Said on Radio Humberside at 5.25 that no deal on compensation yet as Wharton can't get hold of NC who's on his way back from Switzerland. Over there to discuss the compensation payable with the Liebherr family perhaps or even obtain their authority to pay it? Wharton's aiming to speak to him as soon as he's back in the UK
-
This board nearly imploded over the withdrawal of the instalment plan and NC received an enormous amount of abuse from certain posters. He now confirms what many of us had thought must have been the case. They didn't pay!!
-
Meeting was mentioned by someone else earlier. The report of it is most revealing and what NC said explains a lot.
-
There's a problem over compensation. All is on hold. NC wanted Adkins to resign (presumably affects compensation payable) from S****horpe and take training today. It appears he hasn't done either and has gone back to Lincolnshire. Described as a hitch on radio.
-
Solent just confirmed Adkins has accepted job offer and comes with assistant, Crosby.
-
A reporter from Radio humberside was on Solent this morning. Said Adkins linked with Swansea job in the summer and actually applied for the Palace job where he interviewed well and came a close second to George Burley! Is this really the sort of manager that NC's after? Second to Burley!
-
I certainly did but that kind of football is hardly conducive to his sort of game. Think he'll be ok
-
Interesting. I think that developing the "Southampton Style" referred to by NC does come into this-not only with the first team but throughout the club from the academy upwards. So it needs to be a manager who "buys" into this. It seems quite likely that AP did not. I think Eddie Howe plays as good a passing game with width and pace as he can get from basement price players and they certainly seem to be able to score goals. Don't really know anything about Nigel Adkins game but if he's of the same ilk all well and good. I seem to recall our Championship games against Scunny having been a bit dour though.
-
Absolutely spot on
-
It has to be someone who achieves the style of football that ML and NC had been looking for and which they wanted the whole club to embrace from the Academy up. Otherwise, why make the change. With the quality we have in our squad any half decent manager should be able to get us up. It's how he does it that matters both now and in the longer term. I must say I'm with them on this.
-
Are you thinking straight? So you whingers get your way and Cortese says I've had enough of this and walks. The Liebherr family will almost certainly walk with him. What then? I'm a long term fan as well and OP's of this kind and some of the comments that follow are just plain stupid with no thought to the consequences of where such daft remarks may lead us. God am I glad I didn't leave the running of my business to some of you lot. A lot of AP's football was dross. Get over it.
-
When you think about it this is an absolute disgrace. If anyone wastes a bet on Hart they have, in effect, been conned out of their money. Official Twitter states where it originates from and it's not the club. Exactly the same happened with Adams and it must have worked for him in the end cos he got a job, I think, just this side of Outer Mongolia. If we appointed Hart we really would look stupid!

You can't help but go back to NC's comments in the summer about developing an exciting way of playing that could be called the "southampton style" or words to that effect. As one who's been around a while this conjured up thoughts for me of the halcyon days under Ted Bates, Lawrie Mac, Alan Ball (for a year) and for a time Gordon Strachan. I never really felt that way about AP's style of football-always too narrow, not a lot of pace and loads of hoofball. A bit tactically inept and very hard to watch at times too. We have had some good games-on Saturday I thought we were great as we were at home to Huddersfield last season. But, equally, we've had loads of games when we were real dross. Away games at Exeter, Brentford and Wycombe were embarrassing for a team blessed with such quality players for this league. How many times have we gone one up only for the opposition to equalise within 5 minutes and close up the game anf for us to lose our way completely after that. Orient wasn't a one off. Plymouth was the same though we didn't even manage to score that time. A lot on here seem to be wearing rose-tinted glasses as regards AP but in reality, with the odd exception, were our performances and the quality of our football really to the standard one would expect for a team with the sort of investment in players we've had and could it really be said with any confidence that we were definitely on course for automatic promotion. I liked AP's honesty with the media and I think we may have made it this year but it may have been in spite of him-not because of him. This may have been the way West Ham's fans felt the year he got them up to The Prem through the play-offs when they were regarded as maybe having the best team.

This represents how I feel. Am sure Markus and NC must have discussed this and have had it in mind long before Markus died.
-
Thanks for that. Maybe I'll give them a ring.

As we normally have my 8 year old nephew with us does The Red Lion allow kids in without having a meal do you know? This is our problem with the Giddy Bridge (Wetherspoons). The ale's great but children can only go in if they have a meal. Think Queen Alex only allows adults and although the Pensioners will let us in for a drink without a meal when the lad is with us it's Greene King there and not much else which is a bit disappointing.

Thought he played well. Frustrating at times but always a potential match winner.
-
As a non-international Brazilian will he get a work permit here or does he qualify by virtue of having played in the EU for the last 8 years.

In contrast to the other posts on here can't say I was greatly impressed at all. I didn't think that the defence was particularly solid at all. They also hit the bar in the first half and had another couple of clear chances before AP changed the team around when they should have scored. Was very impressed with Dickson-great left foot-and I thought Barnard had an excellent game. But Reading didn't come to defend as will so many teams this season. We have no real width and no pace with which to break down resilient opposition which we have to address urgently. Furthermore, Davis hoofed it up to our tiny front 2 on every single occasion bar one. It was obviously part of the plan as not once did anyone drop back to give him an alternative option. To me it was all a bit deja vu. Not like watching Brazil that's for sure! And what's Wotton still there for. Heard AP on Solent on the way back. He was happy with the performance up until he started to make the changes. Also said they still couldn't get Lallana's knee "quite right" and that he was definitely out next Saturday as he'd had no pre-season. Punch is still injured though he didn't say whether he was likely to be back-nor Rickie who's carrying a slight groin strain. Incidentally, he also said there's no truth to the rumour about the Arsenal kid but wouldn't be drawn in any way about any other transfers which one definitely senses must be in the pipeline. Like most I'm pretty excited about the forthcoming season but on today's showing I'm not convinced we've really addressed last year's deficiencies if we want to dominate games home and away as we should be aiming to do.

Koren is only 5' 9", 4" shorter than Pilchards estimate for the guy.

Is The Forum Representative Of Saints Fans In General
The boy done well replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
As will always be the case with a forum such as this the small minority with alternative views post over and over again making it appear by sheer volume that their views are popularly held. The silent majority are beaten into submission, give up and put the "disaffected" on ignore. Much the same applies in public life with small vocal pressure groups given disproportionate media attention and publicity because they make themselves heard. As mentioned by Saint clark voting would normally give a more representatative view as long as enough people vote. -
But weren't under 8's also free and included in the sales figures last season

Don't know where you are located but we had 2 nests dealt with this week by Ringwood Pest Control at a cost of £47 for the 1st and £10 for the 2nd. Tel 01425 474111 or 07729 496536. Good service. Nice chap that attended. We have used them before too.

Couldn't agree more. It's getting totally out of hand. NC's working on achieving premiership status. Everything is being geared towards it. If having a full time doctor's part of the plan what's the problem.
