  1. We weren't talking about crowds, we were talking about trophies WON....
  2. Yes but the problem with what you've said above is that: A) It's date selective once again as in "...since the 70's...". You ALWAYS fall into the trap of trying to airbrush inconvenient periods of history out of the argument. B) the phrase 'runner up'. Not quite the same as 'Winners' is it?
  3. Well, an interesting theory surfaced yesterday on one of our boards. Apparently, four out of the last seven influential characters to arrive at FP since Gaydamak left in October have either been sued by the Gaydamak family, or are in turn suing said family. IF the club goes into admininstration, Gaydamak jr/snr will lose approx 95% of the £28 million he says he is owed. So it would be sweet revenge for the four out of seven to let the club go under, wouldn't it? Mmmmm, I just love being a helpless pawn in somebody else's game of poker......
  4. But by the same token where would YOU appear on the list?
  5. Hmmm, yep, I'd agree with nearly all of that. Neither of us are ever likely to bother Real Madrid. You definitely have the long term advantage at the moment with the ground already in place and a stable financial setup. It's funny how times change. I remember as a kid growing up in the early seventies, reading on more than one occasion in the national press how Fratton Park was described as one the best grounds outside the top flight! Laughable now, but it just goes to show how most other clubs have upped their game in the decades since, and Pompey er, haven't
  6. Ok, ask anyone actually IN football which is the bigger club? Ask anyone, Journalists, players, managers. Ask people who merely watch the game, neutral fans- ask them the same question. You won't like the replies........
  7. Here we go again. No it wasn't. The record books and empty spaces on tv coverage don't lie you know. As much as you'd like us all to believe that 40,000 were locked out every week, they weren't and you know it........
  8. Well, we approached it all from a different direction i.e. we spent money we didn't have on players and you spent money you didn't have on a new ground. Now, long term you probably did the right thing, as to answer an awful lot of crowing posts about so called poor PFC support, you picked up around 10k extra fans by ditching The Skip for SMS. Where we've gone wrong in the long term is by not seeing that a lot of those extra 10k bums on seats are probably floating fans from outside the general Southampton area who want to see good football in a top quality environment. If we'd found the finance to build a new ground as well as getting into the Premiership we would have picked off a lot of those floating fans who just want more for their money. Fair enough, you can't blame them for that. As for being screwed for generations, I don't think so. IF the club goes into administration, you know from your own experience that thats when the business world becomes interested again, because in most cases nearly all the debt is wiped out. We'll come back, one way or another........
  9. Hmmm, like the way all 1500 of you rallied around in your darkest hour for the 'Save the Saints' game. Don't you ever attempt to lecture to us about support again after that. You'll NEVER live that one down......
  10. Actually, that's the first time I've laughed at anything Pompey related for weeks
  11. Dunno, but your timing is impeccable- we beat Liverpool 2-0, you lose 1-0 to Leeds. I've kept this thread as a bookmark ever since my earlier prediction, and I'm still quietly confident that I'll be posting something positive come the end of the season.......
  12. I've always liked Barclays. Good bank, always sympathetic towards businesses that have a genuine long term future :smt049
  13. Oh well, you can't help growing up in the city your parents inflict upon you He was still a genius.... In a similar vein, Peter Sellers was born 300 yards from where I grew up in Southsea in a flat above what is now the Mayfair chinese restaurant....
  14. No. Tommy Cooper was born in Caerphilly, South Wales on 9th March 1922. A few weeks after his birth the family to moved to Exeter in Devon...
  15. The fact that hopefully he's learnt from the Citeh experience. We haven't had the wild statements about world domination this time... +1 See answer to St Chalet. Thanks for the vote of support re Champs league by the way.....
  16. Oh right I get it. You publish your business plan including your transfer budget and targets for all and sundry to peruse Your last paragraph merely repeats the total guess as to where the finance is coming from. You know no more than the rest of us....
  17. Oh great, someone ITK. Tell us then, what figures you have at your disposal to back up the above claim?
  18. Lets just see what happens eh? You may be right and it's all been smoke and mirrors with little real funding available. It might be that Peter Storries consortium has merely smoked Al Fahim out into completing the deal. Speculate all you like about 'administration' and 'relegation' etc etc, but for now the deal appears to have been done. What happens next? No idea....
  19. Well, you know you've got under someones skin when they resort to abuse...
  20. And thank you too for being two divisions below us, it's ****ing hilarious. So then, in summary we're all happy! Great
  21. Lol! Like YOU know the details of the deal!! You're just ****ed off because the title of the whole thread is just plain wrong
  22. Yeah that's it keep laughing and pointing. Remember, it's the hope that kills you
  23. Wipeout! Deal done! What you gonna talk about now? Oh dear- you might have to talk about your own struggle to stay in the third division :finga:
  24. Pretty obvious isn't it- Fourth division Hereford ffs, wheras you were playing a Premiership team. As you're merely a third division club it was a big game for you.... Ok it took longer than the two weeks I suggested back in July, but THE DEAL IS DONE!!!!!!! Mods, you might as well lock this one down at long last because YOU ALL GOT IT WRONG Alternatively, why not rename the thread: 'OH HAPPY DAY- PFC TAKEOVER COMPLETED' to try to save face, eh? :smt043
  25. Ooh yes! There's a new Sprite 4 berth out this month and......
