Couldn't get a ticket old chap........
-
Yep, agree. I was down in Devon watching on the box and the Chimes came through loud and clear throughout, so thanks for that!
-
You were thrashed 4-1 in your own back yard. 4-1 !!! Clearly you weren't anywhere near being the "better side"........

"ONLY 16,000?" How many of you bought tickets for the 'save the saints' game was launched in a blaze of publicity when you'd gone a lot further down the track than we are at the moment? 1500. All the excuses in the world that are regularly trotted out on here about "we never knew it was on", and "it was only a bunch of amatuers and ex pro's" and "I would have gone but looked in my diary and I realised I was going to be watching television that afternoon" etc etc, don't amount to to didly when you look at the fact that at the time it was being put together you were in deep, deep do-do and needed every penny to stay alive. You see what I mean? Futile argument, absolutely futile.....

Of course attendances are important as it dictates the level of income to a larger or smaller degree. What I'm saying is that I'm past caring talking about attendances in a Pompey v saints tense. It's a ******** argument that can and will go on and on and on because both clubs have always been at different ends of the up/down cycle of league status, ground quality and size and whether the fans can see the team on an upward slope or downward one. The only way to ever get to grips with it once and for all is if and when we get a similar quality ground to SMS and you're in the same division as us. Also, we'll need to be on the same upward or downward curve, with similar amounts of funding available from our respective boards and TV. Until those criteria are met, my eyes will continue to glaze over when this futile argument comes up over and over again.........

Zzzzzzzzzzz.........
-
No-one outside of the SO postcode gives a damn about attendances. You only try to make a big thing about it because that's all you can shout about. No-one else cares........

Well freebies and loanies was probably all we could afford anyway and even that's debatable. It DOES give us a whiff of a chance though to bring some players in and sell some to raise more cash. I would hate to see Kaboul go but if the £10m from Sunderland story is a goer, I'd bite their hands off. £10m would get us out of the poo for a couple of months at least as long as we can negotiate staged payments to HMRC.....

"Avram Grant has been given the green light to delve into the transfer market after Pompey's embargo was lifted. he News can reveal the Premier League gave the Blues the thumbs up after noon, having received satisfactory documentation from Udinese. The Italian club have come to an agreement with Pompey over money owed for Sulley Muntari and that has been rubberstamped by league chiefs. They will also return around £1.6m owed to the Blues, Sky television money they had previously withheld. It means finally, after 103 days of waiting, the Blues can register players once again. And executive director Mark Jacob was delighted with the news. He told The News: 'We have been working very, very hard behind the scenes and are delighted the embargo has now been lifted. 'It will now enable Avram Grant to strengthen the squad where necessary. 'This is another piece of the jigsaw we are trying to put back together. 'I sincerely hope supporters can get fully behind the team tonight against West Ham for what is a crucial match and generate that Fratton fortress atmosphere once again.' The Premier League are expected to confirm the transfer embargo has been lifted in an official statement this afternoon........." Some good news at last. Think we've got just a squeak of a chance of getting out of this mess. Also suspect that the 'Only 3 players available to sit on the bench tonight' story will quietly die now.....
-
Absolutely. There were at least 73,000 who went up on the off chance but got locked out......
-
Probably because most people can see that we're only four points from safety and that we've actually been playing pretty well, especially under Grant. It wouldn't be a major surprise if we stay up....
-
Buy him several to calm him down a bit. Jeez....
-
Doubt that we'd be more inclined to have a go at you when you were in the poo last year- remember we went through it ourselves a few years earlier, so we know how painful it can be. The way things appear to be going I'm more and more thinking that administration would be just as good a bet for us as it was for you. Someone is gonna lose a shyteload of money if we go into admin, and it's such a tangled web of contracts, loans and broken promises all round that no-one seems to know WHO will lose most. However, if it means that new investors start sniffing around and we start again with something near to a clean slate, I'll take the 9 point penalty, the ignomy of probably the record lowest points total, relegation, 12k crowds next season and you lot crowing forever more if it means the club survives in some form.....
-
Yep, agree. The thing is that if the worst comes to the worst, most Pompey fans I've been talking to are more up for 'doing an Aldershat' and attempting to come back from the dead than a slow, meandering death through successive relegations. It's a feeling of 'let's get it over with', allied to a backs to the wall/Dunkirk type attitude. We've always been at our very best when boxed into a corner anyway. Most clubs fans are the same I suppose.....
-
Thats not fair. Not many of us who come on here were laughing believe me. I never stuck the knife in because I'm old enough to know that what happens to you today could happen to me tomorrow. In fact, when most of you were crapping yourselves over the prospect of administration, I was one of the few who was telling you not to worry about it because it might be the best thing that could happen to you in the medium to long term. So far I'd say I was right about that.......
-
We're not quite dead yet you know. It might not be a good idea to start crowing BEFORE we've gone into admin/gone bust/been relegated to the Blue Square south. Sometimes he who shouts loudest ends up with egg on his face. In truth, I have absolutely no idea whats going to happen next, but until we're kaput, I'll stick with PFC.........

BOOM BOOM! Don't give up the day job. Anyway, I don't care where he was from, he was still a genius, a bit like our own Peter Sellers....
-
Hmmm, just back from the site are we?

Not sure it matters whether he's a creditor or not. Either way if there's only 5 pence in the pound owed left from the wreckage, 5 pence is all he'll get, unless new owners are willing to stump up more to gain control........
