Fans Ownership of the Club.
Saint Richard of Woolston replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
I think we have seen that a Fans' Trust cannot even run a Fans' Trust - let alone a Football Club. There can be no 'Fans' Representative' as there is no such thing as a representative fan - we all have different angles on things and that is part of the beauty of being a fan. As such this is all an academic discussion, imho. I think Jonah has a point when he says we all need to get behind the (and I paraphrase so please spare me if I don't quite get the wording right) the current structure (and I think the emphasis is on 'structure' rather than the personalities within it) simply because it isn't going to change without new individuals/bodies coming to the table with enough to remove at least two of the three current players (Lowe, Wilde & Crouch). We are where we are, guys, and the sooner we accept that we might be able to agree a way forward. -
Apology to Leon Crouch from me
Saint Richard of Woolston replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Saints
Goodness me. Really? There must be two interviews, then. I have only heard the one where he sounds a tad mad. -
Ah, the nub of it, Duncan. And the answer is, sadly, an emphatic 'no'. Ideally, somebody would buy the three of them out, invest (i.e. give money to) in the Club and team and we would be off. What we as fans are meant to do, I just do not really know. Protests are all well and good but fairly hollow without a Plan B to protest in favour of rather than just being against Plan A. Might be seeing more of each other at Eastleigh??!!! It doesn't hurt quite so much there.

If being a Saints Fan is not bad enough for your mental well-being, the sort of people trying to get in the boardroom and some of those actually there at present is even more frigtening. I reiterate my opinion, the whole lot need to go. Crouch would be no better than anybody else; indeed, he WAS no better.

Well Done Mary Corbett

Jan, You are really agreeing with me. She has shed tears over Saints - her and thousands others. She cares passionately but we need something more than that out of a Board Member. Otherwise everybody on this forum would be eligible. That pub on the river, just down road from Ground? (Assuming I get there in time) -

Forgive me for saying so but I think her words would count for a lot more if they had not been spoken by this woman who, in footballing terms, is a complete non-entity; big enough to rival any of the non-entities associated with the club already. If we are going to change the Boardroom, going back to the likes of Mary C and Co. (and I am sure she is a very nice, bright and witty lady who is as a keen a fan as anybody on here) is NOT the answer so forgive me for not grabbing my diary to attend this little stroll through town. We need a complete and utter break with all that has dogged us for the last few years. Unfortunately, I do not have an answer as to HOW we do it but holding up Lowe, Wilde, Crouch, Mary C, McMoneyme & Co as the answer is certainly NOT the answer. See you all at Norwich tomorrow? -

You are a wonderful cure for insomnia, Steve. -

The odd time I pop on here, let me assure you that I shall have no problem in expressing an opinion, even if it does not concur with you or others. Sorry if it offends. And if you and others think the support v Donny was adequate and gives the team the best chance of survival then I will even defend your right to that opinion. Also, if swiping at everything the Club and/or those who run it is a way to salvation in your opinion, I am more than happy that you express it. Although it may mean I consider you to be even more barkingly mad than I already do. Taking slices off the club and people involved is entirely counter-productive for now. Only in my humble opinion, of course. -

Oh dear. 7000 shares and 7 attendees. Rupert must be losing sleep tonight. Can't see Wilde hopping over the fence again - whatever he thinks of Lowe, he has to tough it out where he is. Crouch would never trust him again. The rest of the dance, saying who owns what to the nearest .00001%, is all a waste of time until a Mr Big comes in and acts. Chances of that - .00001% IMHO, although I am sure Bean Counter will take issue with my rounding. So, in summary, we are where we are. We have no money so options are limited both on and off the pitch. How about dropping all the posturing for three months or so and getting behind the team? No? Didn't think so. -

Valiant indeed. In a Light Brigade sort of way. But people being people, they will need more than 7000 shares to rally around. Most people here could buy that many out of their current account today. What any move would need to succeed would be for a MAJOR player, let's say Leon for example, to set up something like this and see what can rally around him from there. This noble effort is doomed imho but I wish them all well. What is required is more planning by some big players. But I suspect they have done their thinking and counting and realise they cannot touch the status quo right now. And this club has been blighted too long by 'gesture politics' and a complete lack of substance. -
Swerving the subject everso slightly, I was talking to Jim Steele about Ron last night. Jim said Ron had a party trick in training. There used to be a bit of fun the players had on a Friday when they would put their hands in a bucket of chalk and jump at the gym wall, and see who could leave the highest handprint. Ron would always go last and jump and then put a handprint just above the highest one. He would then go on to put three more above that. He also had a mordant wit. On meeting Jim for the first time, he referred to Jim's transfer fee. "A lot of money for a freckle, if you ask me," was Ron's starter for 10 with Jim.

Two guys with 7000 shares between them. Can't see Rupert being blown of course by that. -
I think Lawrie's actions in giving the interview has less to moving Lowe on than it has to do with his own ego. The whole situation, from moving the picture to Lawrie publicly crying over it, is a bit sad really and writes another page in the dying pages of a once happy club.

Halcyon days, indeed. I seem to recall I enjoyed football in those days. And the players looked like they did too.
