  1. I salute anybody voting for 'higher' as I think the 'stay away cos of Rupert' factor is vastly overplayed. I would be delighted with 'same' and suspect the figure may be lower - especially early on. Get a few wins under our belt and then you may see a few come back. Another factor is that it is going to be late June at best before STs go on sale. Not helpful.
  2. This is a strange decision if true - and one the new owner may come soon to regret. I hope it is not true but if so, I hope he thinks again.
  3. 1. Run the Club as you see fit (you can't do any worse than taking it into Administration) and ignore Message Boards like this who are generally populated by well-meaning people who could not run a school crossing. 2. Do not spend more money than we have - or you will end up in Administration. 3. Enjoy the first few weeks before everybody turns on you when we have not wiped out the 10 point deficit and got to the top of the League by Christmas.
  4. The tour includes Eastleigh on 4th July.
  5. I would be happy for him to stay. It would have been interesting to see how he would have done if he had been able to have the players available to Pearson, for example.
  6. I think you are entirely right, GM. And it is just not the events of Southampton putting off potential investors - you only have to look at what happened to the Newcastle chairman at the start of last season. I had this discussion with friends a week or so ago, when the euro lottery was over £100m. If we won it, would we buy Saints? And the answer was a unanimous 'no' because there would come a time when it was no longer safe to walk the streets if things went tits up.
  7. Do you know, Doc, I am not sure just how many extra people would have turned up if Crouch/A N Other had been in charge instead of Lowe. Sure, there are some. On this forum there are several who say they stayed away because of Lowe - some will be telling the truth, others will not - such is the nature of a forum like this. There has also been some straight-line maths done between average attendances with Crouch and average attendances under Lowe and conclusions reached. Ah, if only life were that simple. However, if all other things were equal and it would appear they were not, I would have preferred Pearson to have stayed. He did appear to have upped the fitness levels a la Strachan and a full 12 months under him may well have trawled better results than we had under last season's management. If results had been better, then you would have seen better attendances. In retrospect money was spent that could have been spent on retaining Pearson. But I did not see too many complaints when Schneiders was signed, did you?
  8. Interesting way of looking at it, Doc. I would up the ante on Leon and down it on Rupert a bit, whilst certainly giving 'Mike' a good share. I think with Lowe in charge all of the time we *may* have been in League 1 by now, such were his ideas on football, but certainly not in Administration. With Crouch & Wilde near the rudder for only a short time, we are suddenly both in League 1, in Administration and start next season (if we are lucky) on minus ten points for good measure.
  9. Do you? I mean, do you really? Good grief. The final knockings will reveal that dear old Leon has more than his fair share of blood on his hands re the demise of SFC and in the, what is seeming increasingly unlikely, event of a new Board I would rather that he, together with all the other former protagonists, is as far away from the controls as possible. However, he has nevertheless 'stood up and been counted' in the last few weeks and one or two others who have made money out of the club could have followed that example. Insert 'oh so funny' winky thing ->

  11. I like Wotte. He has looked people in the eye (metaphorically at least) and told it as it is. I think he would be as good as anybody for next season and better than most.
  12. £30k would not cover the expenses. I am tempted to refer to one person in particular, who should have been an MP, but will not!! It has not been publicised well at all. The Echo far too interested in writing about Lowe than giving any profile to this game.
  13. You are quite amusing, in a macabre sort of way.
  14. Once again, GM, a highly perceptive analysis that will get howled down by a few but will nevertheless not have its correctness devalued. I am certainly in 'total panic mode' now and have been since around the middle of last week. Whilst preparing for the worst, I continue to look for salvation on the horizon but really cannot see where it is coming from now. Please God, I am wrong.
  15. LOL, Duncan. I am sure that Rupert does not think that about ALL of us. Just SOME of us.
  16. All of this assumes what the Echo says is correct - something they do not have a brilliant record over.
  17. A good keeper - always was. Shame he took so much **** off of a certain section of the crowd a while back. Thanks Kelvin - and good luck.
  18. It is important that the new owner(s) have *their* man in place - whoever he may be. I hope they do not let themselves be swayed by fan message boards or supporter groups. It is time for us to act as a professional club again and not be the plaything of egomaniacs or have the owners buffeted around by the conflicting wishes of fans and their groups - however well intended.
  19. LOL, v good. BTW, is this you coming into the Lowe Camp, Alpine?
  20. Lowe must stop this nonsense. Only Crouch & McMenemy can put themselves forward as 'loving' the club and ask for another go.
  21. The simple fact is, and it is one that some of you prefer to ignore, that we can never move forward together until ALL of the recent protagonists have moved on. And that includes Crouch & McMoneyme. Both have had their chance and no wneed to move to the pages of Duncan Holley's books once and for all.
  22. Lowe - had enough & not interested. Wilde - hopelessly out of his depth. Crouch - mad as a hatter. So long as those three are not involved, along with all of their cronies including McMenemy and all previous Directors, then I am happy. Not sure about Fulthorpe, though. Has talked a lot but produced nothing, except an appeal for money. I guess Beer Heiress would be nice.
  23. Write to Leighton Mitchell. Mention 'Trading Standards' will be your next port of call. Await free track suit. QED.
  24. Of course it is disappointing, Duncan. But in my great 'route to survival' plan, I had budgeted 4 points from last might and Saturday. Three last night would, of course, be brilliant but last night's 'one' will only become a real disaster if we draw or lose on Saturday. TBH, the way we were played off of the pitch for the first half, I would have taken a point at half time. I really thought Derby played much more like the home team in the first half.
