We were always looking to bring in two keepers. One for the future and one for the first team. We were never going to bring in someone worse than Kelvin so surely he always knew that at best he'd at best be in direct competition for the top spot. His start wasn't the best. He was bought for the championship and eventually he did the job we bought him for, beyond the expectations of many. Many of the improvements he made last season seem to have disappeared, so unless he can find his mojo again, I don't even know if I feel confident in him as back up.

Technically they possibly are. Without the replica shirt element the sponsorship would reduce and the shirt price might rise to fill the gap. In practice of course there's price sensitivity and the shirts might just not sell, but I'm not buying a shirt and I might consider doing so if I got a sponsorless one for a tenner on top... if it wasn't a terrible shirt.

He might be in ultimate control but anybody is entitled to treat a chief executive as the decision maker. It's for the CEO to decide if he's capable of making the decision without consulting his chairman. If he turned us away and we've still made contact with the play/agent then there's something to discuss.
