  1. just realised i got a bit lost mid sentence and it should have been "the player wants to sign for us" i'm mocking the concept of an option to buy that by aggregation of reports amounts to the same option as every club has to buy any player, rather than mocking the concept of loans with a view to buying. rudi skacel to hearts was the model for that kind of deal. we wouldn't want another £20m kick in the teeth though. that was hard to take.
  2. so based on the information we have, in short, we have a contractual option to buy which we can exercise as long as atletico don't want him back or a bigger club doesn't want him or the player doesn't want to sign for us.
  3. did he ever bother getting his coaching badges?
  4. consumer and retail inflation indexes are no guide to relative values in football over that time.
  5. **** me, he was right. Belgian international defender from the Ajax academy.
  6. never mind that, how can we possibly afford a hugely and nonsensically inflated €500k per year?
  7. 10 months younger than shane long with one good season in the championship which still wasn't as good. i wouldn't like to spend 8m on that.
  8. maybe we did but encountered a similar problem as we did with coutinho. the player didn't want to come to us, so liverpool got the bargain.
  9. a number of possibilities a) the leavers all signed contracts the summer after MS signed his. Contract clauses? b) The others predominantly went for prices which looked high at the time. Nobody is offering a high price for Schneiderlin (obviously the chambers transfer leaves this open to debate) c) The others leaving gave us enough capital to replace the leavers and hold on to MS even if it meant him kicking about in the reserves. d) MS was identified as having a weaker resolve to leave than the others.
  10. of course they do. they want to set a precedent for when they don't want to be here.
  11. Common denominator in those situations. Boruc joined a club and took the number 1 spot having been brought in with a view to achieving that. Has he ever lost his spot and reclaimed it? Marshall was 19 when boruc came in and 21 when he left celtic though so that was a bit of a mismatch in all fairness. Boruc replaced Douglas who had left the club. Frey knackered his knee and Boruc took advantage. Fair play, he held on to the position and Frey moved on for first team football.
  12. an u21 goal does not make an arab spring.
  13. expensive jason puncheon.
  14. expensive jason puncheon.
  15. interesting given the article i read that said Jan Kluitenberg had been criticised for training the feyenoord players too hard and was blamed for their slow start.
  16. probably the same person.
  17. Or Ezequiel Schelotto maybe? Was everyone excited about that? That was a meltdown without a transfer fee and with the hopes that we'd still be signing a decent striker.
  18. Of course not. It's understandable Hull want £12m for him. It's not understandable that we want Shane Long at anywhere near that price.
  19. if first team football was paramount and artur turned down bigger wages to join a club giving him first team football it should have been possible to negotiate a clause entitling him to leave based on a minimum number of first team appearances especially as he joined as a free agent. he should probably sack his agent.
  20. and we won't need planning permission as he's under 2m high.
  21. it's clearly true. wanyama hasn't played once this pre-season
  22. The new company secretary Karenjit Dhaliwal is the club's in house solicitor. http://solicitors.lawsociety.org.uk/person/21990/karenjit-kaur-dhaliwal
  23. Maybe Switzerland is different. The last tax haven I researched relating to dividend taxation, an individual had no entitlement to double taxation relief even though there was a double taxation agreement and the net figure was taxed by their local tax man. It looks like the holding company is owned 100% personally by KL now (this is a new development. previously 50% KL and 50% ML whatever that meant) so the somewhat clearer provisions relating to witholding tax from dividends swiss companies owning significant stakes in UK companies look like they won't apply here. I've been trying to get my head around the way HMRC's website explains and then calculates tax credits under double taxation without success, but then I stumbled on the most salient point
  24. unlikely a swiss national will receive dividend credit.
