Not sure colin has a reputation for keeping clubs up int he premier league. He's got a strong record of promotions, got relegated with sheffield and sacked with QPR. Have I missed any clubs?
  3. send wanyama in to deal with adam and shawcross. one "header" each should do.
  4. never mind age being the deciding factor, the next few years were probably the deciding factor. the club wanted the next four years covered, and boruc had one left. for whatever reason there was no extension.
  5. tbh his basic defensive stats are impressive but he's got terrible distribution stats compared with the players who do get called up.
  6. elias was more about recruitment than coaching wasn't he? I think him and the academy manager have a reasonable claim to credit, while prost was the U18s coach and his best claims ended with the walcott group and possibly influencing our signing of schneiderlin.
  7. would anyone notice?
  8. that is no evidence that people want to see a good England team.
  9. tottenham were a goal better than us as they were last season and the season before. nothing that happened in the interim has made a difference.
  10. everyone will have to hold it in for nearly two weeks.
  11. makes sense. if we lost it's because we didn't have a clean ****.
  12. yeah he nicked a few stories from other footballers either to throw doubt on his identity or just to have stories to tell. most of it matches kitson and if it's not him it's someone who borrowed his answers from very public interviews to use in the book.

    Bertrand

It's not as binary a decision as it is with Forster and Boruc. Targett played in front of Bertrand when he came on. It might not be seen as a priority investment and Targett might be best suited to left back, but we can arguably give everyone opportunities. If we qualify for european football we shouldn't be going into next season with only Targett.
  18. Roy was thinking "can he play right back?"

    Dusan Tadic

That's all very well too but you can only play eleven players at any one time. If lallana had been twice the player (the way suarez is twice the player liverpool can ever hope to replace him with) we could only benefit if his sale enabled us to improve other parts of the first team commensurately or by a greater degree. Otherwise there would have been a trade off of first team quality for squad depth. If there is a difference in effectiveness between the two, it is not yet obvious, so it looks like money in the bank and more depth for no net reduction of quality on display. We have improved other areas of the squad but we brought in more money than we needed to do that. Hopefully plenty left in the coffers for january to make any tweaks or pounce on good opportunities.
  20. Let's just shout "STEEEVE" at him.
  21. that would be a bit over familiar for a first meeting.

  23. it was really those two sentences following each other that confused me. I thought there must have been a mistranslation in the first. having run it through bing and babelfish it does really seem as though he did say that things were coming unstuck from the beginning but then quckly onto how the new coaching setup clicked. very abrupt but it doesn't seem as though the translation was really misleading the way I suspected.
  24. oh no oh google translate.
