CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
sotonist replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
sure it's only SPL and it's a highlights reel, but yes the boy looks like a monster at that level. the last SPL monster we signed worked out pretty well. -
I hope HP is more reliable than Daddies was over the Toby transfer.

I'm no great fan of the man either but we went bust in the best possible way. With a stadium (i know some will say it was in spite of him), a training ground, an academy packed with talent, and yes morgan schneiderlin. it was mismanagement but put us in a great position to be bought and turned around quickly.

does wrong count as unknown? if the wikipedia foundation have anything to do with it, the statistics will be vandalised until an admin reverts to the "last known good version" in which clasie scored 25 goals last season.
-
A right sided CM? interesting. RK was talking about needing a left sided CM when he spoke to the media in january regarding Vilhena. Maybe Clasie fills that role now, I don't know. Thanks for the insight.

i missed that revelation but i'm sure it will all be resolved toot sweets.

is clasie's identical twin brother any good at football?

Schneiderlin Joins Manchester United (Official)

should have gone for cambiasso. proven in the PL. -
i think LLP means a price that we could enforce with athletico and get the deal done in a timely fashion, assuming that toby's head hadn't already been turned at that stage.
-
that's effectively what we've done with Martina. a reported option to extend. players who are genuinely a risk we stand a chance with on that basis, but anyone who has reasonably high stock will like only committing for four years as it gives them a good bit of security and still a strong platform to move on after two years.

New under 18's manager appointed - Anthony Limbrick
sotonist replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
I don't know where their U21s go (probably on loan) but last i checked, when a chelsea fan was gloating about having the youngest youth teams in the competition, i checked their assertion at the time and I don't believe they were wrong. granted they haven't produced many players for their first team, but we haven't produced many players for chelsea either. actually i've found the quote. -

the same is true for chelsea but they did well. this is the guy who replaced dodd and willo isn't it? -
out of interest, that tunisian defender we nearly signed in 2011 (presumably influenced by jaidi) before he got upset at cortese trying to cheat his former club out of their cut has ended up back in tunisia playing for the club he started at. i don't think we lost out. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ammar_Jemal

he may have been responsible for specifying the contract and liaising with the solicitors. in my experience solicitors these days rarely understand the commercial ramifications of anything other than an off the shelf product, so they have to be spoon fed everything and you need to double and triple check that what they have drafted produces the expected outcome. that said, I would have expected our in house solicitor (http://solicitors.lawsociety.org.uk/person/21990/karenjit-kaur-dhaliwal) to be involved and culpable rather than the CFO

it's not necessarily worthless. it could be worth the increase in value of the player since we had him. it just looks like it's worth a lot less than we hoped it would be and unless the club are satisfied on balance to play for compensation rather than secure the player by playing AM's game, then if he signs for tottenham it will certainly look like the club made a mistake in both the original contract negotiations and subsequently in clinging to that agreement.
-
If so, I would have expected more ITK info about lions and wifelets between October 2012 and April 2014.

i'm no lawyer, but i agree with your assessment of the situation. we had the right to acquire the asset at a set price. if the asset i sold for a price in excess of that then we have suffered damages of at least that difference. we should further be compensated for costs and possibly damages for opportunities lost while pursuing the transfer of the player under the agreement. if the contract doesn't achieve that, then it was a bad contract.
-
that will use up my third post then. i'll try not to leave any gaps. We opened negotiations with Skacel when he was a Marseille player at the tail end of a loan to Hearts. GeorgeBurley, the manager who brought him on loan to hearts from Marseille and his chief scout had joined us and Skacel was determined to join us rather than Hearts. Hearts triggered a clause in their loan contract (which I have dubbed the Skacel clause), acquiring Skacel. Skacel reportedly had agreed a permanent contract at the outset of the contract so he became their player automatically when their right to buy was exercised. We were then forced to negotiate with Hearts over a permanent transfer. It is to date the only example of this kind of deal structure that I am aware of. Given the number of times i've brought this up on various forums over the years I would have expected other examples to surface by now. Happy to be corrected on anything if i've got it wrong, but obviously i'll be unable to respond. I thought we were told Les was going on tuesday.
-
examples of a Skacel clause are rare. that might just be because disputes over it are rare, but i can't think of any other examples and every time i've brought it up, there have been no other examples brought to the table.

I wouldn't take a medical at tottenham as confirmation that Toby prefers that option. Whatever his preference, he has to hedge his bets and will want to ensure he gets a contract and first team football sorted this summer. If we can't or won't resolve our dispute with AM then Tottenham is a reasonable alternative. It felt like Michael Jackson popcorn time last night when the news broke, but the momentum of that seems to already be lost. As touched on earlier (i think), our contractual right in some ways is a hindrance in achieving the desired outcome.

Coretese's good friend Dalian Wanda owns 20% of Atletico Madrid. No wonder they are mugging us off. /s

what an ingenious scheme. I think i've seen this done before

this is the worst show from the club since wanyama looked like going to cardiff or tadic looked like going to schalke

is this your job application? you're five short.

it's moot anyway as he doesn't appear to have an education. https://www.linkedin.com/pub/ben-fairthorne/59/642/aa8
