  1. Record attendance saturday - more than 32,300 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2748960,00.html
  2. if he is touch and go he will play. in the past he has been protected but being the last game and given the importance of the game, it would have to be a pretty bad injury for him not to play imo.
  3. This is how I think saints will line up and I agree apart from Guly starting although we don't have many options on right midfield. SDR hasn't made impact when starting games so unlikely he will on last game plus we have no other impact players on bench if he isn't on there. Davis Frazer Fonte Jos Fox Guly Hammond Morgan Lallana Lambert Sharp
  4. If ever the team needed our support this is surely it. It is obvious the players are going to be really nervous and the likelihood of the game being on TV won't help matters either. The players have admitted in recent weeks that our great support on the road has inspired them to victory. There has been plenty of debate on here about the atmosphere at SMS but we need to put that to one side and be that 12th man the team so desperately need. 31,000 saints fans getting behind the team even if things not going to plan could be the difference between success and failure. Let's get behind the team and every player including our friend Guly. Don't leave SMS on saturday with regrets.
  5. having a debate with someone about the choice of games that will be televised on saturday. My theory is: West Ham win tonight then it's a no brainer us and west ham will both be on tv. Should West ham fail to win tonight I still think we will be on TV plus cardiff @ palace. In my bias opinion I think a promotion party at SMS holds more appeal than boro @ watford even for the neutrals:)
  6. 3,000 tickets sold for m'boro is far from embarrassing even given the importance of the game. i think quite a few people will get tickets tomorrow being a friday, I think we will take around 3,500 fans which to me is a good turn out given the distance and cost of getting there. 3.500 fans will make a big noise @ the riverside as boro fans are very quiet and always turn out in low numbers there.
  7. People are not reading my OP properly. I was merely pointing out he was being disrespectful by saying his team were by "a long long way the best team". Factually he is right about reading being the best team and they are top of the league so currently they are the best team but my gripe is him insinuating they have been head and shoulders above anyone else which is complete ********. I suspect he was caught up in the moment and for me it only gives us extra motivation to go on and win the league as we can then factually claim to be the best team.
  8. I always thought McDermott was down to earth honest guy and is obviously a very good manager, but my opinion of him has been somewhat lowered after he disrespected us by claiming his team were the best team in the league by a "long long way". "Since the seventh game of the season we've been the best team in this division by a long, long way" In my mind the table does not lie so come 28th April we will know who the best team was. Ok his team have been on an amazing run and have arguably been the better team since November however the only true indicator of which team being the best is by final league placing. Maybe he got lost in the moment due to the euphoria of getting promoted. I reckon his words should be used as extra motivation to go on and win the league. No one can deny us being the best team should we do it and vice versa for reading.
  9. Guaranteed we will be going all out for 3 points, besides saints dont play any other way. adkins is a winner and he will want the title make no mistake. even if reading beat palace beforehand it wont alter our approach to game. birmingham will not want to play west ham over two legs so they will be gunning for 4th or 5th which may mean they need a win against reading. 3 points will not only see us promoted (1st objective) but will keep serious heat on reading. I also suspect we will want the title more than reading as they were run away winners only a few years ago whereas our trophy cabinet could do with a new addition:)
  10. i actually think he is the best commentator on solent. probably frustrated hearing same old clichés from adkins but they make it easy for adkins with their questions.
  11. Adkins says we want title so we will be going for win at m'boro. They need to win to stand any chance of play offs so should be open game which should suit us more. Seal promotion on saturday hopefully then pressure free game against coventry which could see us claim title should reading take 3 or less pts
  12. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2737441,00.html? Unless coventry dont take up full allocation then a small amount will become available.
  13. middlesboro away would be the better game to offer free travel considering the distance. stoke took 6,000 to liverpool in the cup and offered free travel which cost them 60k. so on the basis we took the max allocation of 4,000 but given the longer journey it would probably cost something similar to that i would have thought.
  14. i make that 3,500 tickets sold so far then which is a decent amount for a tuesday night game albeit a crucial one.
  15. there is more twists to appear yet. its amazing come 9.40 tues night we could be on the brink of promotion with only 1 point needed to secure it or it could be taken out of our hands should we lose, west ham win and there GD becomes better than ours. i am adamant we can do this this as long as we play like we did against reading albeit with out the individual errors. keep same team that started against reading. fonte cant play any worse. although chaplow was crap, as a team we was less of a threat when he went of. fox is due a set piece assist as well. dont think morgan will make tomorrow but hopefully saturday.
  16. How can you say reading deserved to win? You must have been watching another game. You won't see a more one sided game than that this season apart from maybe our game at leeds where we got battered but won. No one on here thought we deserved to win that game so why did reading deserve to win?
  17. Strongly disagree on most of that. Saints haven't played as well as they did last night at sms in weeks even months. Ready were clinical obviously but saints totally out played them and had them on back foot for most of the game. All 3 of their goals were self inflicted. A part from chaplow, fonte and fox the rest of the team played really well. Impressed with lambo and sharp partnership. Play like that for remainder of season and we should be ok.
  18. Fox gave it away for 1st and fonte let roberts get in front of him. Roberts gave fonte tough time all game. 2nd goal resulted from fonte giving ball away with aimless pass 3rd goal weak header back to davis by fonte and le fondre nipped in to score Shame because jos was outstanding tonight so was butterfield. Up until their 2nd goal we were on fire and had reading on back foot. Reading were extremely lucky. Really impressed with lambo and sharp link up play. Play like we did tonight in remaining games and we will be ok.
  19. glad i am at sms tonight husband is doing the solent commentary. he was poor when commentating on on game against portsmouth. kept babbling on rather than following the game so listeners had no idea where the ball was. kris temple much better comentator.
  20. I have it on good authority they were trying out their chat up lines on each other.
  21. Morgan Schneiderlin is likely to remain out with a knee injury, whilst strikers Tadanari Lee and David Connolly are still both sidelined. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/PreviewDetail/0,,10280~2731926,00.html?
  22. i think reading will have robson-hal, tabb and leighterwood back for friday, dont think they were risked last night as they carrying minor knocks. brighton deserved something out of the game last night and had reading on the back foot for large parts of the game, so lets hope our extra recovery time pays dividend. if we keep the ball and make them work then we will have great chance of winning the game. if we give away silly set pieces we are asking for trouble. mcanuff and harte are deadly dead ball specialists. same line up that started at palace for me with full backs pushing on to offer natural width allowing chaplow and lallana to take up unorthodox positions in between the lines.
  23. i think frazer has struggled a bit of late. gets caught out of position far too easily for my liking and lacks pace to recover. butterfield no quicker but maybe his experience gives him the edge in the art of defending plus his crossing aint bad either.
  24. will be at least 30k. only chapel and corners left i think. reading sold their allocation of 3,000.
  25. it will be interesting to see if reading make any unforced changes for tonight's game bearing in mind we have extra day of recovery. i dont think they have the strength in depth like we do even with our injuries at the moment. do they go all out tonight and place strongest 11 possible to increase gap between them and west ham or do they freshen it up a little with friday in mind? i guess it is a case of are they looking ahead or behind?
