When is Obafemi back? Got the impression from Ralph he wasn't too far away. Him and Redmond up front could be interesting. Otherwise probably needs to be Austin to start. Long useless. Not a fan of Cedric but to loan him out for just €500k and not replace this month whilst we are still fighting a relegation battle seems odd to me. Doesn't seem like anyone will come in based on our requirements (young and long term). This worries me as we are one injury to Redmond away from being back in the ****. I wonder if Ralph will drop Armstrong in favour of JWP in that position with PEH and Romeu at CM? Armstrong was very poor the other night goal aside. Maybe not quite over ankle injury? Enjoyable evening. Free bar and nibbles. Highlights Some injuries due to new style of play. Obafemi doesn't look after himself. Needs to be more professional. Some targets in mind for this window but they have to be for the long term. Summer will see overhaul of squad to get us back to where we were ie Europe PEH on radar of elite clubs in Europe due to his development. That is the model we are reverting back towards. Buy cheap, develop into top players who end up at elite clubs. Ralph H likes Slattery. Thinks he most advanced in his development. Likes Valery but needs to improve heading. Obafemi another rough diamond. Ralph K and Toby Steele reiterated about owner allowing all money made by club on transfers and operations to go back into playing squad. No money being taken out by Gao. South car park to become fan zone on match days subject to council approval. Maybe in Spring or start of next season. Long term vision is to use old gas works site to be a fan village/zone. Council keen for site to benefit club rather than Sell to property developers. 3-5 years away from happening. Due diligence on Gao was done by external agency not club directly. Club actively exploring ways to move away fans as they acknowledge it gives away team advantage by increased atmosphere for away team. All subject to police and council approval. Ralph H says we are better defensively with 5 at back but not effective in attack as no pressure up top of field. Whereas more effective going forward with a back 4 but not organised enough in defence. Lack quality in one on one situations when defending plus no fire fighter in front of back 4 to protect them. On the whole positive outlook I think. Seems to be good synergy between both Ralph's but I guess he hasn't had a complete transfer window with club yet so time will tell. He was poor in my opinion. Didnt look comfortable with ball at his feet. He should have covered stephens and marked waghorn who scored with a free header. Thats what a good full back does. Hopefully a full week of training will help but we have to be far better in defence than we were at derby. Worrying that targett, vestergard, Stephens will start. Got to keep Maddison quiet, very good player. Should of been a player we went for last summer Armstrong redz and unfortunately long up front. The inside track article on OS says derby have a tendency struggle when opposition press them high up and rough them up a bit. However if Mount, Wilson and Marriott have time on ball then they are match for anyone. From what I've seen of derby in carabao cup they were very impressive. Quick and fluid attacks. Targett a doubt for tomorrow fortunately. I think I read somewhere Ramsay can play either side so may be he will play LB and Valery RB. Cedric played left back v Utd and did ok so if he doesn't come in at LB that will confirm he is off I think. I can see Yoshida, Stephens and Bednarek starting. Valery and Ramsay as wing backs. They trained afternoon last Thursday because they played weds night which seems logical to me. Normally they would come in for gentle session day after game but because of short time before Cardiff game Ralph felt he needed to maximise the time he had with players. Strange how Bertrand and ings were close to being fit just before Hughes got sacked but not heard updates on them since really. Is Bertrand really injured? Hughes said he had anxiety over back condition which sounded abit odd to me. We need both back as targett and Austin are woeful. No schedule on Obafemi injury either.
