  1. Scream or If we can use un made prequels: 7 seconds later!
  2. Some great memories there! we need a new Pahars, Marsden and Ormerod to compliment SRL! agree with other comment that BT at his best was probably better then Ricky!
  3. Morgan and Cork, Morgan and Cork play in midfield, Morgan and Cork, Morgan and Cork are like a human shield, they pass like a dream, to southampton's goal machine, Morgan and Cork...........
  4. Didn't want to start a new thread, so though this might be the best place to comment on ex-youth players. Harlee Dean having a very solid game at the bridge this afternoon for Brentford. Some class blocks in front of his goal. First half at least. Even if he was never good enough to stay and play at the top level, it is good to see him playing well at his current level/club.
  5. Thanks to the helpful responses. And thanks for the for the laughs other have with trying to be big time. I play at a level with my mates and enjoy which also allows me to watch saints everyweek and work Sunday's as and when needed. Doesn't mean I can't take it serious or be annoyed by poor decisions or results. Plus I never said the ref was being biases deliberately! We have some muppets who post on here don't we?
  6. Sold out our allocation!
  7. This morning, we had a a shocking referee in our 11 aside game. I'm not going to mentions teams etc as that could get me into trouble. Or am I going to bore you with a long list of what he did wrong. The main decision which I would like to ask about, was his decision to disallow a goal because the other teams player who was running the line said it was 'handball'. I know it wasn't a handball (because our players who where closest to it and the player who scored said so after in the dressing room, and confident the lino couldn't see as I was stood in front of him after playing a ball inside their left back which produce the cross. Anyway, the questions are 1) the referee gave the goal and then changed his mind after speaking to the lino, Can he do this? 2) I have always been told when running the line, or heard referees tell other player that they are there to help with offsides and throw in or goal-kick/corner decisions. In the past I have even been told off for flagging for a foul. So what is the rule (written or otherwise) on what the linesman/woman is aloud to assist the referee with? Considering the level of football that does not get impartial assistants. Thanks
  8. Can we please have song's for Morgan, Cork, Clyne and Shaw first? It's weird listening to the ESPN coverage of the City game and hearing Tandanari's song, for a player whos done little for us yet a player like Morgan who has been here for years and outstanding this year in the prem has never had a song!
  9. Sorry if posted else where: Thought this was very interesting reading: http://www.skysports.com/opinion/story/0,,12038_8499918,00.html GREAT AGGREGATES Hi Martin. It's a pity that most people have been condemning Manchester City for their admittedly poor performance on Saturday but let's give credit to Southampton and remember that the Saints also ran them very close in their opening day 3-2 defeat at the Etihad. Had the fixtures been a two-legged affair, Southampton would have effectively "won" 5-4 on aggregate (a 3-1 win and a 3-2 defeat). How often has a newly promoted team beaten the defending champions "on aggregate" over the course of the two fixtures in a season? Assume that the "away goals rule" applies. Keep up the excellent work, both column and commentary! Best regards, Arjun Kudva (Manchester United fan) MARTIN SAYS: Southampton became only the 13th newly-promoted side to beat the defending champions in a one-off Premier League game and the first since Burnley shocked Manchester United back in August 2009. The games in question are as follows (home team in capitals): Date Champions Promoted Side Score August 22, 1992 Leeds MIDDLESBROUGH 4-1 October 3, 1992 Leeds IPSWICH TOWN 4-2 December 26, 1992 Leeds BLACKBURN 3-1 December 17, 1994 MANCHESTER UNITED Nottingham Forest 2-1 August 26, 1995 Blackburn BOLTON 2-1 September 30, 1995 Blackburn MIDDLESBROUGH 2-0 March 8, 1997 Manchester United SUNDERLAND 2-1 April 5, 1997 MANCHESTER UNITED Derby County 3-2 October 20, 2001 MANCHESTER UNITED Bolton 2-1 January 17, 2004 Manchester United WOLVES 1-0 April 17, 2004 Manchester United PORTSMOUTH 1-0 August 19, 2009 Manchester United BURNLEY 1-0 February 9, 2013 Manchester City SOUTHAMPTON 3-1 Southampton became the fifth newly-promoted side to win outright on "aggregate" against the champions after Ipswich v Leeds (1992/93), Nottingham Forest v Man Utd (1994/95), Middlesbrough v Blackburn (1995/96) and Derby v Manchester United (1996/97). As you can see from the list below, two further sides would have won on "away goals" and a further two clashes ended up as draws with neither side scoring more away goals. Season Defending champions Promoted team Results Aggregate score 1992/93 Leeds Ipswich Lost 4-2 & Won 1-0 4-3 to Ipswich 1993/94 Man Utd Newcastle Drew 1-1 & Drew 1-1 2-2 draw 1994/95 Man Utd Nottingham Forest Drew 1-1 & lost 2-1 3-2 to Forest 1995/96 Blackburn Middlesbrough Lost 2-0 & Won 1-0 2-1 to Middlesbrough 1996/97 Man Utd Derby Drew 1-1 & Lost 3-2 4-3 to Derby 1997/98 Man Utd Bolton Drew 0-0 & Drew 1-1 1-1 (Bolton win on away goals) 2003/04 Man Utd Wolves Won 1-0 & Lost 1-0 1-1 draw 2010/11 Chelsea Newcastle Drew 1-1 & Drew 2-2 3-3 (Newcastle win on away goals) 2012/13 Man City Southampton Won 3-2 & Lost 3-1 4-3 to Southampton It's also worth noting that Steven Davis scored in both games against Manchester City and they remain his only two goals for Southampton.
  10. Apart from a slight feeling of being sorry for Nige for what he has achieved, I've always thought the move was positive and the correct one. Just seen Illingsworth's interview before yesterdays game: what an idiot, or did that really sum up the average saints fans thoughts?
  11. Just watched the game back on sky plus! Commentators mentioned it was almost a full decade since we beat the champions, aug 2003 against united! So yes your correct if they are. Also made me smile when on 88 minutes the ESPN director clearly turned down the crowd microphones as we were at full volume 'OWTSGMI'. Also like the praise they kept coming back to, with keegan, barnes and known almost embarrassed for talking about city all the time!
  12. Another yeshida mistake! Why didn't we buy another cb? You can't win games in the prem with these 2 at cb! Please Fonte and Forren et fit Asap!
  13. No one except Cortese and Adkins and maybe a few players know the real reasons for this decision. However, if we were to believe Cortese that it was due to Adkins not being able to tale us where he wants to take us, then I dont see if that is a problem. Maybe Adkins and Cortese had an agreement about what aims they had this season, and what calibre of players they woudl like to bring in this and the last transfer window. If neither of these were acheived (however unrealistic we from the outside may believe them to be) then adkins has not reached his agreed targets, irrespective of how good others may feel he has done and how they rank his and the clubs recent acheivements. Im not saying this is correct, but to me this is an exceptable explanation to the current situation and recent actions. I hope that Cortese is proven correct to have acted now. Hopfully we can all be celebrating the type of success that Cortese and the Liebher legacy dreams of. Lets get behind the team and the club and the new manager, if and when it goes wrong then we question Cortese's decisions, but remember how most reacted to Pardew's dismisal and some quetions around Adkins appointment. Cortese so far has made all the correct decisions for the clubs current situations ever since he persuaded St Markus to part with his money to save the club from oblivion. COYR!!!!!! Together we stand, rise and Fall!

  15. Id love to see the other 9 saints players alongside 2 decent /prem league standard Centre backs! Future Englands full backs in Clyne and Shaw (hands off United/chelsea/spurs/arse/city). Morgan especially but also Cork was different class tonight!
  16. Yoshida and Hooiveld are clueless at defending. All Yoshida had to do was clear it out for a corner or smash it away. Please bring on Gaston and ricky at HT AND two new CB's b4 monday.
  17. Steven Davis has been a waste of space since his goal at city! Cmn saints! Get Ricky on!
  18. We have had very few decent atmospheres in the last few seasons. But today wasn't helped by the score line and conceding just before half time. But compared to City, Arsenal and Fulham which I have done away this season, ours is far better than theirs. Just wait till we go to the bridge, we will probably be the only fans singnig as most sets of away fans seem to be better than home support for a number of reasons.
  19. WOW! not sure which Yoshida everyone else watches. Yes he does some defensive things well, but often makes mistakes and his distribution in the air and the deck has caught us out and led to us conceding far to many times! I will dissapointed if he is not replaced in January, I think Jose's up turn in form in the last 10 or so games has helped to cover up for Yoshida's short fall.
  20. Great point, but shoulda won it after being 3-1 up and them down to 10 when 3-2. Poor ball retention and not taking chances to go 4-1 up cost us! But Adkins substitutions have to be questioned! Always too negative when we are winning and losing! i dont know what his fitness was like, but I woulda liked to see Ramirez come on last 10 minutes and just give him the ball and let Lambert do some defending! Also need a confident strong Goal keeper, think Kelvin has to look at himself for their second!
  21. CB to play alongside Fonte and one to sit on the bench and challenege Fonte!
  22. Darren Bent and any 2xCB's so Yoshida doesn't even make the bench!
  23. And Rosler scoring Saints first goal at St Mary's against Espanyol! They did score first tho! Dellhurst, MLT v arsenal at the dell with CMFG almost stealing his thunder with a 20+ yard strike which clipped the bar, Everton at home same season as dellhurst. One non directly saints memory was sending Wimbledon down at the dell!
  24. Yes yoshida shoulda put pressure on the ball but Fonte has to mark better than that FFS! almost a class reply from Ricky from 40 yards! Cmn saints we are better than this! Still chances to come, let's hope we take them!
