If it is a marquee signing i would rather they got over the line eventually rather than miss out and be forced to bring in a second or third choice target. The team we have to start the season is a very good one. Redmond and Hojberg are great additions as well as the squad fillers McCarthy and Pied.

According to the interview, Ronald will meet the players in 2 weeks time (obviously likes of Shaw,Lallana will be given longer because of the WC). Be interesting to see what approach the club takes with Osvaldo who will be due back in two weeks. Will Ronald be allowed to integrate him? Or are his hands tied and the club have already decided to keep Osvaldo away from the club until a move is agreed for him? Should make for an interesting first training session with Fonte and Osvaldo both expected back.

Fontes mistake was much worse. Yes Guly gave it away, but a tackle should have been made at the edge of the box before the pass to Hooper, then Boruc should not be palming it back out into danger, gk basics and then who is following Snodgrass in? Bad pass by Guly but we could easily have prevented the goal after the ball was given away.

Might be a bit biased as a Northern Ireland supporter but he is much better than Chaplow, Hammond and JWP. I would have Morgan and Cork ahead of him based on performances this season. He is no doubt a prem quality CM but just needs to improve his consistency and ball retention which in previous seasons has been no problem for him. Just needs to adapt to the prem league again after playing below his level in the SPL for a few years. Will be a key player at this club for a number of years

Could this be like the summer where we chased top defenders but didnt get any and were made to panic buy at the last minute. Hope not

Arsenal did have a go down cork's side of the pitch but he had an excellent game, was motm on sky. He cant be excellent every week but i do feel he gives us much needed stability in centre midfield

Its obvious where we are struggling and thats defensively. But im watching the Reading game and with a back 5 of mccarthy, gunter, pearce, gorkss and harte, i have no doubt that man for man we have better defenders and this is probably the case when compared to another 5/6 prem defences. The problem is that even though we are better man for man we are struggling collectively as a defensive unit but this will improve with time especially since a few of our defenders are new to the team. Give it time and we will be ok especially when were not playing top 4 sides. Combine this with our attacking options which are good enough for top half prem league i come to the conclusion that we will be just fine this season and finish 13th or 14th. Optimism is the way forward. COYR
