  1. Luciano Vietto with two assists for Fulham today. A player we were linked with on numerous occasions
  2. To me it looked like somebody in front of him failed to block it and he saw it late. Not great but the lack of closing down was terrible
  3. Hughes didnt make the mistakes today. Hughes didnt miss the chances against Burnley. He is not the problem. And as previous posters have alluded to, i would not trust Reed with bringing any new manager in. Probably end up with some unknown from the austrian league
  4. What did Vestergaard do? The lack of closing down on Maguire was poor
  5. 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 McCarthy Cedric Vestergaard Yoshida Bertrand Lemina Hojbjerg Elyonoussi Armstrong Ings Gabbiadini You know it makes sense Sparky
  6. Watford have looked decent with a back four of Cathcart, Kabasele, Janmaat and Holebas. Would you really pick that over our best back four. Think its a case of Hughes settling on our best back line and sticking with it. Vestergaard, Yoshida, Bertrand and Cedric please
  7. Which is it? Relegated or not? You're a bundle of optimism
  8. Agree with suggestions that Ings and Gabbiadini should start. They are the best options and their movement will cause teams problems. Austin can act as an impact sub if we are behind, has picked up goals off the bench previously. Gallagher next best option. Would sell or loan Long because he doesnt offer anything
  9. Chambers didnt cover himself in glory for Palaces first goal. Not a strong centre back and doesnt read the game well enough to play there. Right back if anything
  10. This. Could see Long going to Celtic
  11. Hope he does really well and puts his injury record behind him. Still think the signing smacks of desperation. Liverpool made him available early in the window and it seemed we were unwilling to pay their asking price. Fast forward to the final minutes of the window and suddenly we make our move and pay the asking price. It seems like he was a last resort option although not sure who else we failed to attract - Alcacer? Welbeck?
  12. Would have been happy with a loan with the option to buy. What happens if he does his cruciate again, we're tied into paying 18 million next summer regardless. Mugged off big time by Liverpool. Good job Les and Ross
  13. Cant remember the last time Romeu won a ball. Any footage ive seen of Lobotka, he picks it up deep and shifts it on, quite rapid too. Looks like a quicker schneiderlin
  14. Can we get Alcacer and Lobotka while hes in Spain? Alot of reports saying we have bid 21 million for Lobotka. Would be an upgrade on Romeu
  15. If we are genuinely interested and lose out to Watford, then that would be bitterly disappointing
  16. 100% agree. Defence were left exposed on a number of occasions with attacking midfielders free to run at our back three. Romeu looks like his legs have gone and wont recover the form he had two years ago. Lemina and Hojbjerg are workman like midfielders but not defensive minded and tend to leave big spaces in behind. We never replaced Wanyama, the type who is just happy to break play up and sit/protect the defence. A player like this also makes it easier to play a back four and utilise more attack minded players
  17. Hardly set the world alight when he played for arsenal. Though he was often used as a CB when hes best at RB
  18. Cant see Hughes turning his back on the 352 after employing it most of pre-season. In which case McCarthy Yoshida Vestergaard Hoedt Targett Lemina Hojbjerg Bertrand Armstrong Gabbiadini Austin Would rather see us return to 4231 to make better use of our attackers McCarthy Targett Yoshida Vestergaard Bertrand Lemina Hojbjerg Redmond Armstrong Elyonnoussi Gabbiadini
  19. Suddenly its a poor window after a few pre season defeats. The same people were likely saying how good a window it has been a few weeks ago
  20. You just know he will score more than Austin, Gabbi and Long combined this season
  21. Liverpool prepared to loan out Origi. If we arent prepared to spend any more pennies then this could be a good option
  22. Gallagher is rapid for a big man. Looks like hes built his strength too. Would really like to see him stay and compete for the two forward spots Hughes could employ. Would have him ahead of Long all day
  23. Romeu should be nowhere near that team, so slow and lethargic, nowhere near the player he was 2 years ago. Lemina and Hojbjerg need to start. In other news, Long is utter s****. How can management not see that. McQueen cant be a serious RB backup, looks uncomfortable out there. Good stuff - Armstrong looks very good and his first thought is to drive forward. Gabbis movement looks good but pity hes isolated again
  24. Glass half empty view, or possibly completely empty Or on the flip side, a player with champs league experience who scored 17 in his first season with celtic and whos second season was marred by injury; a promising centreback who also has champs league experience was a consistent performer in the bundesliga; a young backup GK who was excellent in the championship last year and is being touted as a future england international; and an exciting winger who made his mark with some very good performances in the champs league Out -Tadic, great servant but for large parts of the last two seasons was ineffective. Boufal - exciting talent ruined by a selfish attitude, not to mention spends more time on the deck than on his feet
  25. 7/10 for me, though a good striker would take that to a 9/10
