No i mean for his appearence fee as in his appearence fee couldnt be above 3k as i remember i think it was Figo saying he donated his appearences fees to charity and that was if i recall 3k. So my point was if it is his bonus' fees we cannot pay then we must be in big big trouble. As my boss just said to me (working late) the question is can we afford not to pay for the goals he would score? John in the Sheff Utd game did well i thought considering we could not push forward much. He held the ball up and let others get forward. I cant see anyone else in our side able to do that. So Johns goals were important but his link up play was far more important i think.

If You Had To Bet On It,Will Saints End Up In Administration?
St Marco replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
If we have to send a player out on loan because we cannot afford his appearence fee ,which cant be more then say 3k then we are in the ****. I think the games where we had 16k minus home attendence is now starting to take effect. I dont think the Lowe plan took into account what happens if people dont turn up and so because of these things i think if we dont sell either Davis,Lallana,Surman in January and we stay 1 place above the drop zone we will be in admin. -
Wish i was taking some of what you guys are on Swansea have not lost at home and will be difficult to score against. We have a strike force up front with a massive 3 goals between them in 13 games. Have a feeling that this game and the Coventry game could be the catalyst for what is to come. I will be there but i think this could be a drubbing. Going for a 4-0 Swansea win.

Exactly and the fact people are trying to run damage control by saying people were moaning last season is a joke. Stern like Rasiak before him was our top striker and has had to be farmed out due to financial reasons. If our club really are at the stage where we can't afford to pay most likely 1k-3k max for a player then that sends the message again to all other clubs that we must sell. This in turn makes me believe those rumours that Davis will be forced out in the transfer window along with Lalanna then Surman in the summer. If we are at that stage then we are worse off then we have ever been and the prophecy Hoos and Crouch gave about getting investment or go into admin becomes true. We are now counting on DMG,Peckhart and Robertson to get our goals. I seriously cannot see them scoring anywhere near the amount of goals we will need to survive.

Have to agree with the above. The age of text alerts is over now you have internet on the go from your mobile. You can see the scores on there for about 1p so would make no sense to pay 10p for every update. Say it was a high scoring game i.e 4-4 that would be like 80p just for the goals. These alerts are just cons really as 99% of phones now have internet. But i think it is good you guys are looking into other areas to keep people informed of things.

JP seems a nice guy however it is very difficult to understand him sometimes. Not sure if i agree with his mentality and think he is more of a "we do it this way or we die trying" type of manager which in princepal would be good if it were say Wenger. People have to remember we have a 50% loss rate right now and that needs to improve bigtime or we are going to really struggle. Not sure we will get much joy from his tactics which are very negative. But the guy needs time and we as fans have to give it to him.

Kelvin is a good keeper. Last season you can barely blame him for the ****e defence we had that changed every week. This year he has saved us so many times it really is like the Niemi years. The points we got on the board are mostly down to his saves in my opinion. Lets hope we dont do something stupid like sell him in January.

I have not played the game yet and in all honesty i have not read much about it either. It is something that intrigues me as i like level design. Used to do loads of it In Operation Flashpoint and with Garry's Mod. So as you say this is bound by your imagination would it be possible to re-create Omaha Beach and play through that setting? As i saw earlier some of the things people have done with the Far Cry 2 editor and they created that and recreated the city of Paris which was awesome? Or is LittleBigPlanet more about creating left, right and jump style things (i.e platforms)?

Well Game delivered my Fable II copy today so that is now Fifa and Fable delivered 1 day early by them! Lets hope the trend continues and i get Gears 2 early Early impressions of Fable II are very very good. I love RPG games so maybe im a bit biased though.

Just back from the game. Personally i thought it was a very enjoyable game to watch. Especially compared to the crap i've seen in the other 11 games. The changes Jan made worked in my view as the experienced boys showed the rest what to do. There was a lot of comunication and most of the time everyone seemed on the same page. Dropping Wotten made a huge difference to the defence and even though Ollie got a red card i think he played superb. The whole defence worked very hard and even though i was ****ed to see Rudi in defence he did great. Davis was my man of the match again as he made some outstanding saves, his displays so far this year have been a joy to behold. I really hope the rumour of Lowe selling him in January is not true. The key to this performance was effort. Lets not pretend here this was not some outstanding promotion chasing display. This was on mass defend for your lives performance. The first half Utd were fast as sleep and were just complaining to the ref all the time for giving us all the decisions. The ref was a bit of a picky one but thankfully he was on our side. The second half we were hanging on for our lives and i think i can only recall 1 shot of ours. Seeing John back in our box defending for the last 20-25mins and our keeper getting motm shows what kind of game it was. The boys did the job they needed to do and 1 point is something we would of all taken before the game. They deserve it for effort. Yes we were lucky and we did what a lot of people complain about when it happens to us (play for draw) but really i don't see how another way would of worked here. Maybe in the second half we should of put a 2nd striker up front and try and ease the pressure a bit. The only depressing thing about today is even though we have done superb and got a well deserved point (in my opinion) we have dropped points and are actually now closer to the drop zone. I really feel it is a battle for the last relegation spot already as i think Forest and Doncaster are done for. If we can keep getting points from the teams around us and we put in the effort we did today we could move away from the area we are in. I just pray we don't go to Swansea and play like we have before this game, or Jan re-vert back to before. Swansea are no mugs, they are undefeated at home. We have to put that effort in every game and try and think about ways to attack. Passing from keeper to defence then to centre midfield we are very good at that. But that is because all their players are in their own half. We have to work on the final third and more importantly the final ball. But the players should be proud they have done well.

Last time we won a midweek away game in the league?
St Marco replied to St Marco's topic in The Saints
I believe so yes. We did however win one of the playoff games against Derby and that was in midweek! But that wasen't in the league so doesn't count. We have not won an away game in midweek in 14 games. The ironic thing is in that period in 2006 we had gone 11 games unbeaten! -
Yeah i remember that summer it was like a big rumour for ages if we would get him or not. I hope he plays tonight and plays in midfield as he could be good if he can re-create his assists in 2006 from there. Rudi can be a good player i think just not as a defender.
-
Actually if i remember right it was Lowe who agreed to the transfer but it couldnt go through until July when the transfe window opened. He resigned in that period. At least i think that is what happened.

2-0 vs Palace in Sept 2006.......... (at least from what i can see) 2 years is a longtime COYR

Fable 2 was reviewed by Eurogamer and got a 10/10 they say it is one of if not thee best game ever made. Now Eurogamer are a bit odd with reviews but most of the time i agree with them. Im sure the game will do very well so lets hope game ship mine out early like fifa 09

Would this current Saints side survive in league 1?
St Marco replied to gjphilsaint's topic in The Saints
Not quite true. Overall we are 20th but for the month of october we are actually last form wise. The win at Doncaster and Norwich means we are winning the mini league. However we can't go on expecting us to have the luck we had in those games and expect the teams around us to keep losing. We have to sort out our home form as that is also the 2nd worst. I hear a lot of the same people talking like they were last season about saying we were not in trouble when we were 14th and had at that time the worst 2 months form wise. This season is looking like last season just the difference being we played crap and picked up wins. Now were playing crap and losing. -
Last year with the last 5 games to go we had a very tough run in of teams. Of those 5 games we beat Bristol City at home. At that point they were i believe 1st in the league? The next game we played Charlton and got a draw. Then we played Burnley at home and lost 0-1 even though we dominated the game we got done by a goal in the dying seconds of the half etc.. Then we had to go to high flying West Brom and get something. We played excellent and got a point (im sure we all remember that goal). Then in the final game it was a must win at home to in form Sheff Utd. A game where if they won they would recover from the **** they started the season with and nick a playoff spot. We came back from 0-1 down to win 3-2. You all know the history. So we had 5 tough games against teams doing very well and we came out with 1 loss. And that 1 loss was unlucky. Now you could be here until eternity trying to predict what could have been if Pearson had stayed or if Lowe had not returned. But the facts that we do know for 100% is that Crouch said he would appoint Pearson full time. The bank had agreed to the then boards plans for the forthcoming season and publicly backed them saying they would support it financially. Crouch and the board before him had been activley trying to find investment with a reported deal being only hours away. We had players in on loan who improved the squad who were experienced i.e Perry,Lucketi,Wright etc.. We had people behind the scenes who really were Southampton people i.e Big Mac. But now roll on almost 6 months since that last game in May everything has started to fall apart even more. It is very possible that had the Crouch regime remained we could of gone backwards again and still be in the situation we find ourselves in now. But i don't believe that would of happened. I think we had turned a corner in those last 5 games and for the first time in as long as i can remember things were settled. If it stayed as it was i have no doubt Pearson would of done what he is doing at Leceister and create a team on the cheap (pretty much all free's) and got that team working well as a unit. I think while he was here he got the best out of players who lets be honest were pretty awful the whole of the season i.e Euell etc..And i think that was the key to our imediate future. Someone who can get the best out of average/poor players. He turned the defence around and made us hard to score against. That is what we needed to be at that time. So now it is like the past 10 months never happened. We have 2 people at the club who only communicate with the fans when it is to say how great they are and their way of doing things is the only way of doing it. A lot of the fans turned into jerks and tried to hound out people who have done a lot for the club like Mcmenemy. They were looking for someone to vent at and they picked him because his son is an agent.....I wonder if some of you know regret the way you treated him? Our defence is once again a joke (only 1 goal difference from this time last year), we can't score to save our life. And we have a manager playing people in positions they have not really played in. Add to this the in game tactics are baffling (moving DMG to midfield on saturday when we needed 2 up front) etc.. etc.. Now it is only 11 games into the season. There is a long long way to go. We could put some results together and move away from the bottom. Then people would be saying all this is just a over reaction. That is all very possible and i think we all hope that happens. None of us want to see what is happening here continue, it is really heart breaking to see how far we have fallen in such a short time. But right now the facts remain. We have a very poor team. We all want the team to do well but we have to be realistic these players are years away from 1st team standard. They are just sacrificial lambs who have been put out to be eaten by the big bad wolf. The guy in charge of them is a very personality driven person. Someone who believes in their own style and will stand by that without changing it. We have seen these people before at this club and it has cost us more then it has rewarded us. You can go on but i can't help but think we had turned the corner. We were set for the following season at least as it was. Which begs the question why have we had to have 2 people return? Why have we gambled on a manager with as next to no experience in competative football? Why have we adopted a system of football that is largely extinct in this league? And so on. This is of course just my opinion

The who's going to Sheffield Utd thread
St Marco replied to AndyNorthernSaints's topic in The Saints
Will be there and i don't expect anything at all. If we are going to get a battering (5 goals+) it will be this game. They are a very hard team to score against and seem to be able to score from many different ways. Compared to last season they are totally different. So i have no doubt we will get our ass handed to us on a plate but football can be a strange thing and you never know we could get something! However i think we have to be realistic. The Swansea and Coventry games are games we must get points from, this one we should expect nothing. -
And there you have it. Some quality titles to look forward to with at least one massive title released every week. Going to be very poor for awhile

Sorry mate but that is stupid ideology. Most teams train a lot. The succesful teams have managers who are obsessed with working stuff out tacticly on the pitch in training. All that hard work pays off in the games. To suggest it has no bearing on the result is daft.

He started to be at the club after leaving the world cup. Direct quote from Lowe "It is well documented that Sir Clive has been to our Academy, he has met with (head coach) Steve Wigley and he is interested in learning more about football," said Lowe" Conclusive proof it was before relegation as that was 3rd September 2004 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/3616864.stm So while some might think SCW has done a grand job his actual record while in football has been to see a team who finished 8th in the prem league the season before relegated then see them finish 14th in the CCC the following season. Sorry but i don't buy he has the ability to turn average players into better ones.
