  1. Gamestation (same company as Game) are doing a really sweet thing where they will be slashing prices for a top game every day this month. For example today you can get Fallout 3 for £14 on PC and £19 on the consoles! So far Fallout 3 is one of my games of the year and for half price that is awesome! Other crazy deals are Fable II for £19! http://www.gamestation.co.uk/ Hopefully when RacePro is released that gets in the deals!
  2. And to answer your question about the cost (sorry i didn't understand before) That would be £149 for the high def player and 60GB harddrive (they don't make an 80GB one). Say £50 for wireless adapter and £30 a year for subscription x 5. So in total that would be just under £300. But i guess you didn't hear that we will most likely be paying for PSN,Home and future games like MAG?
  3. The problem is pittdog mate you have no choice but to buy those things. You were not given a choice as you were with a Wii,360,PS2 or even PS1. It was up to you wether you wanted to buy those things. For example you mention there the HD:Dvd drive. In the grand scheme of things a tiny % of 360 owners actually bought one. If you then say compare that to Blu-Ray you see that Blu-Ray sales are actually very poor. I remember telling you over a year ago it would not catch on and right now i appear to be right. With even the head of Warner Brothers saying "We think this is a do-or-die time for Blu-ray. We must get it established as a favorite holiday item" http://www.paidcontent.org/entry/419-dvd-sales-down-blu-rays-missing-its-mark-whats-hollywood-to-do/ In fact figures say that for every Blu-Ray player out there only 1 Blu-Ray film has been sold per unit. In a time where they have no competition at all you would of expected the format to do much better. But we see for last week that its number for film sales is still under 10% and falling. If you look at this you see the numbers. http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/questex/hom989113PBN/#/2 While DVD sales are increasing Blu-Ray sales are decreasing. So my whole point of that is you were not given a choice wether or not to buy into Blu-Ray technology. Because you were not given that choice the price of the console goes up almost £100 ($200). So your effectivley paying money to pro-long a format that looks like it could die with in the next few years. Then when the next generation of technology comes about most likely your Blu-Ray discs and your PS3 discs will not work with it. So with the HD:Dvd you were given the choice. If you watch films then you would buy one, if you don't then well you wouldn't. If you didn't you would save a lot of money. Then moving on to other things such as the internet. I actually don't have xbox live. I used to but no longer have the time. With the PS3 you get a built in wireless adaptor. With the 360 you don't. To get one for the 360 will cost you £35-£50. Now the same rule applies as before. If you bought the PS3 you don't have a choice you have to pay for it as it is included in the console. If you are like me and have a router then chances are your router will be somewhere near your xbox/tv/sky/pc etc.. so rather then buy a wireless why don't you run a £3 ethernet lead from your router to your 360? It gives you a constant connection and a more reliable connection which runs faster and wont suffer interference. Now on my PS3 i have the RJ-45 plugged into the router and i bet a lot of you do too. So again the cost of the PS3 is increased by about £50 ($80) because you are told you must have a wireless adapter! Where as on the 360 you buy the wireless adapter if you need it. You are not charged if you don't need it. Which then brings us onto the reliability of the two services. While i don't agree with paying to use a service such as xbox live i can appreciate how much it costs to run it. If you have 25m people all on one service downloading everything/playing online/streaming films etc.. etc.. then that is going to hammer any system. Buy paying for it means you get demo's and things very fast and early, you get updates the moment they are made and more importantly you have various applications which enable you to speak to your friends and so on. PSN is a service which i feel gets a lot of negative press for unjust things, for a free service it does what it is supposed to. But is it really free? Again with the xbox live, if you don't want to use it you don't have to. You still get all the updates and can use all of the things on there. So i could keep going but i think you get the point i make. You look at the prices and think "well if i bought those things on the 360 would make the 360 more expensive". Which it obviously would. But the way most people look at it is like this -Don't need Blu-Ray as i don't watch to many films let alone buy that many. -Don't need wireless as the console is in the same room as the router/computer etc.. etc.. Which means why should people have to pay for the things they don't want and more importantly won't use? As for the memory thing all those people without memory were actually given free memory cards of 256mb. The price of a Hard Drive (20GB) is about £40. http://www.game.co.uk/Xbox360/Hardware/Accessory/~r327028/Xbox-360-Hard-Drive-20GB/?s=hard%20drive Think you can even get 60GB and 120GB ones now too. So for £299 you could get A pro 360 (Gear1&2+Fallout 3) 60GB Harddrive, Wireless controller, Wireless headset, HDMI cable, Upscalling dvd drive etc.. for £195. So that is a lot of stuff. Then if you wanted a wireless and full year subscription to live that would be say £50 for the wireless and then say £30 for the subscription. So that is about £25 less then the £299 you said. However if it was me i would get the pro with fifa 09 for £170. Then use the cable to use HD and use the ethernet cable from my router. Then with the £130 i saved could buy 3-4 brand new games.
  4. It is the friday after thanksgiving in USA. For some reason americans find it fun to all que up outside giant stores and crush each other to death to get good deals. I think they said there were 10 confirmed deaths from being crushed this year or something.... Like check this out, this was on tv about the stampede http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BPub7bb0mzs Crazy stuff
  5. Hang on a sec. Right let me get this straight. Us season ticket holders who have witnessed 11 games at home this year of which we won only 1 and lost 5 have to pay £30 to watch this game?! I understand were in the financial **** but do they not realise that the customers are not exactly in the best financial shape what with it being xmas, financial economic meltdown and having to pay half a grand for a season ticket?! If we were playing great and the stadium was packed then i would agree but the stadium is at best 3rd full and were playing/played some pretty dire football this season. I don't think we will be seeing anywhere near a full crowd now.
  6. To be fair though Wilde brought this response himself. In his programme notes at Plymouth game he pretty much ripped into Crouch and placed the blame on his door. The reality is that Wilde is the one to blame for what has happened. He came in saying he was the saviour and had the cash to be injected into the club. He was the one who green lighted the mass spending we had in our promotion chasing season. When that didn't work he brought in people who were meant to be on his side. They didn't agree with Wilde so Wilde quit like he does. Then Crouch said we had to make cut backs and he was sacked. Then when the board couldn't get new investment they left with a nice £500k pay off. And now Wilde comes back saying everyone is to blame but him. Well sorry Wilde but in my book you are worse then the rest of them combined and you are to blame for our situation. You lied about investment, you brought in people who were cowboys and we had to pay £500k to rectify your mistake. Then you come out thinking the fans are stupid and will believe someone who had no control over the finances side was to blame in his 4 month chairmanship. Then you go on to say "We are pleased that Mr Crouch is enjoying watching the fantastic displays that our young squad have been providing, and are confident we will be able to improve on the encouraging start we have made.” This just sums up the man. We are 3 places away from the relegation zone. Won 1 out of 11 home games and lost 5 of them. Have lost nearly 50% of our 20 games already this season. And have seen some of the worst performances i have ever seen. If Kelvin Davis was not in the form of his life i have no doubt we would of not won most of our wins, which are only 5....How is that encouraging exactly? The guy is a total moomin. As for Lowe i think the bit where Crouch says “Despite receiving tens of millions from player transfers, television, sponsorship revenues and packed houses at St Mary’s, all we were left with when Rupert departed was the second year parachute payment." Think that sums it up pretty well.
  7. Nope only this won
  8. And you should ask for a book on new digs, you been using the whole get a life thing for what 5 years now? I would go down to your level and retaliate but i promised the mods i wouldn't. How you haven't been banned yet though does amaze me seeing as others get banned for far less.
  9. yeah bit difficult typing on my phone maybe i should ask nintendo to buy me one with a bigger screen seeing as they have all the money
  10. Well again i don't think anyone will be interested seeing as i doubt your all into buisness; but last friday was black friday, the biggest selling week for everything electronic in the calender! This year posted record sales (funny how the games industry survives the economic problems) The sales were for the world excluding japan Wii = 1.3m 360 = 789k PS3 = 367k and the DS = 1.68m... Those are all in just 1 week. That is some serious $$$
  11. Mark Wright and Dean Richards for me. Harsh what happend to the lad, always thought he did great for us.
  12. Boo fecking hoo. Look who it is our resident Mr lets slag everybody off guy. Seriously do you actually offer anything to this board? All your posts are aimed at having a pop at someone and you have the audacity to think i need to get over myself?! Should change your name to CB Cry...I remember when you would ***** when people would call you out on your rubbish such as above, you would whinge and try and get them banned. Obviously that can't apply to you can it seeing as your a stingy bastard since we have to had help with the cost. At least i go to the home and away games and at least i talk about valid points about this club. Where as you i doubt have even seen SMS before or even been to any away games at all. But the ironic thing is you and others have missed the point totally, a point that at least Um Pahars gets, and he gets it because he goes to the games, he pays his hard earned cash to see the team. And anyone who has seen the team over the course of this season knows a few good performances in a sea of crap performances don't make things better. As UP and i have said what use does going down the pub have on things exactly? If our previous managers i.e Burley/Dodd&Gorman did that would people believe them? Hell no. As i have said so many times before Jan is in a no win situation and always will be. He has been given a bum deal. He is in a job he has next to no control over and if he speaks up or says no he will be out. I think we all feel sorry for the guy. But what will make him respected is getting results especially at home where the people that matter watch. How is saying "were be alright" or "we dont need to sell xyz in january" going to actually help exactly? And what if we go from bad to worse and xyz are sold in january? Then will you think he is a liar? So it is a really nice "gesture" for the staff to go meet the fans. That is great and i respect him for that as i said. But his words would hold more value to me and the actual people who bother to go to games if we had more points on the board. It is like someone flying a plane who has never flown before and after they cross into the wake of a jumbo jet turning round and saying "were be alright!". So you might trust that guy but i wouldn't until they have safely got us on the ground. But it was a nice gesture to offer to fly the plane! I know your a bit simple in the head what with being a **** and all so i hope you get my metaphor! And i did mention our wins away i said we won 5 of 19 games.... Plus i meant in general about those managers you muppet, the point which again you obviously missed was they are all nice guys and have not done so great in this league recently. But i do enjoy your vists to this website, they do offer such intelligence and understanding!
  13. Sorry but it is not a question of being "liked by your friends". This is a football club where the results matter not "how nice you are". I have met many many "nice managers" including people like Alan Pardew, Ian Dowie, Mickey Adams and so on. They are all currently without a club because they had bad results. If the league table was given points for "how nice you are" then we would be near the top wouldn't we. If were building a club on "being seen as good", then somebody needs a huge kick up the ass. It is a results buisness where results only matter and they have not got the results simple as that. People like Adrian are made happy easily. A vist down the pub to say hi to a few fans to say thanks for their support is very nice of them, it is great that they bothered to take the time out of their busy lives to do that. But they are empty words. We have won 5 games from 19 games, we have won once at home in 10 games. That is a 10% win ratio, that is pitiful. That adrian is FACT. So while some of you might be happy and believe what they say that things will get better and that people wont be sold in the january window etc.. i don't. I appreciate the inccentive of speaking with the fans, it makes a nice change from the previous managers we have had. But for me i would much rather have more wins under our belt and be away from the relegtion zone then have "a nice guy" as our manager. If that makes me an arsehole then so be it.
  14. Funny how people fall for the propoganda and some don't isn't it. Because Jan/Wotte and 2 players really want to go to a fan chat evening every other night don't they? They are going because they have been told to go simple as that. I have yet to speak to Jan but with his record and saying "everything will be alright because i said so" to me just makes me even more worried. We have won 1 game at home all season. When the results start changing then i might believe it, but they arn't.
  15. 2 wins in 10 games (5 loses) and all of a sudden he is the man! couldn't make it up really could you
  16. Pretty awful game to be honest. Think the fact Plymouth came for the draw didn't help at all. The first half things were just to congested and we couldnt create that clear chance we i personally felt we deserved. We were better 1st half and they were better 2nd half. DMG was unlucky with his shot that got cleared off the line. At the end of the day it was just 2 poor teams taking pot shots and that is all it was. Lots of trying but no ideas. Think that sums up our team at the momment. However im happy to let this one go because of the weekend result. If you asked me if i would take 4 points from 6 before the Reading game i would bite your hand off for it. So while no team deserved to win really i think the lads can still feel they did ok. We dominated the game in the first half and most of their chances were down again to our own faults. Next weekend for me is a critical game for us. If we lose were be right back in the **** again.
  17. Well as i said on 19th they have announced download content for Fable II called "Knothole Island" http://www.destructoid.com/lionhead-reveals-knothole-island-dlc-112544.phtml
  18. Well the players should be on a high after the Reading game so there is no excuse to then actually do a Reading and not turn up! We need some consistency and we need to change our home form around. We have the worst home form in the league. If we can just change that around and maybe get it more in line with our away form were be miles away from the relegation zone. So for me this is a hugely important game. I think we will win 2-0. However for some reason i would not be surprised if we lost 0-5.
  19. Sorry My new years resolution is to let go of the whole computer sales things. Mainly because my job will then turn into Film Analysis so i will bug the film forum Seriously though as much as i don't show it i do actually really like my PS3. LittleBigPlanet is loads of fun. It is one of those rare games that come along now and then that just makes you really smile. Sort of like when you watch a Disney film with the family when you see a joke aimed at adults that the young ones wont get! The thing i don't like is the way Sony have approached this generation thinking were all sheep and will pay £xyz for something simply because it has the word PlayStation on it. So in that regards i would say yes i dislike Sony. Their whole buisness strategy is just awful and seems like they make it up as they go along. My view is they should have made people choose between having a Blu-Ray player or not, that would of brought the costs down a lot. So while i might be a bit more critical of the PS3 it isn't because of it's games, it has lots of fun games that are as good or in some instances (Oblivion) better then even the PC version. Just at a time of total financial chaos around the world, big fall in PS3 sales etc.. you would expect Sony to cut the price right? Especially in say UK where it is the most expensive? Well apparently not, to make people even more angry Sony have decided to actually increase the price of their products most likely including the PS3 http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=28965512 It is things like that which annoy me and make me think what i think about Sony. PS3 = great machine, Sony = dirty company that think of quantity rather then quality.
  20. Think it is pretty certain now people will be leaving in January. While obviously i would rather none of these players left i can see Davis going for sure in January for about £1.5m and can imagine Lallana and Surman will be sold at the end of the season at the latest for about £1m for Surman and maybe £2m for Lallana. If we lost those 3 players i am not sure we could survive in all honesty.
  21. Firstly dont lecture me about support. I go to nearly every away game and every home game and have done so for the best part of 20 years. I have seen good times and i have seen bad times. So by your stupid logic would mean we support the name Southampton right? So if that is the case why are you not out supporting all the other local teams with the name Southampton in it? I support Southampton FC because the way the old teams played matched the way majority of us lived our lives. The under dog with not much chance somehow punching above our weight and standing tall. "The Spirit Of Southampton". I guess you need to read that up and understand what it means. There is nothing in a name, it is just a name, the character behind the name defines what it is, you need to understand that. As i have said time and time again this is not a charity, this is not a dictatorship. We do not simply jump because someone tells us to jump. We do hand over our cash because were told were a **** supporter if we dont and so on. The fans of this club are amongst the most passionate and loyal i have met. They pay stupid amounts of money to watch what has been for the majority of it pure **** football. When you have watched that for as long as they have and paid as much as they have then you will understand why people would be unhappy about it. The "Little Money" we had was big money to us but little money in the football world. Wilde spent that money not Crouch. Crouch did not spend anything. He put his own money into the club something Lowe and Wilde have never done and never will. So you can try and spin history to your own point of view but it was Wilde and Wildes chosen board who wasted that money, the same guy saying the old board are to blame.... And the mistakes Lowe is making is clear to see. We have taken a huge massive gamble on un-proven players. They are talking like we have won the league or something when we have not only the worst home record in the league but the worst GD and are just 1 game from the relegation zone. Hardly time to start saying they done good! So please don't lecture me about the word support because you clearly have no idea what that even means.
  22. Lowes decisions lead to our eventual relegation. There is no way of getting around it but the failure to back the previous manager and employ 2 nobodies in 1 season in the premiership was never going to work. Cheap options when we didn't need to be cheap cost us. And he should be seen to be doing his job, not using the media to attack not only the previous people (which includes Wilde) and the supporters. He takes zero responsibility himself for when things go wrong, and when they do go wrong he will remind you of the things he did that were good, even if they were not even good. Point being his ego and pure ignorance must infest in every single thing he does. He simply cannot make the right choices when they matter most. It is easy to run a club when you have the cash cow of the premiership, i think we could all do that. But when it comes to not having that money his policies fail. Do not forget Crouch had the support of the bank. If we were losing nearly 5m under his plans would the bank go ahead and support it? Hell no.
  23. The problem is Lowe and Wilde where the ones who put us in this position. Lowe got us relegated = loads of money lost. Wilde spent the little money we did have on trying to get re-promoted = loads more money lost. Then they blame it on everyone else but themself. Lowe is the reason we are headed for administration, he is not trying his best to stop it he is making further mistakes which in say 3-4 years time we will look back on and say they were wrong. This press release will be a key piece of evidence to show just how deluded those 2 really are.
  24. I love the way he blames the previous board when Wilde was the previous board.... As far as im aware under Crouch we did not sign anyone, did not give any new contracts, did not hire anyone, sent players out on loan, lost a high paid manager and got compensation for it and so on. So while no doubt things were bad last season they were the aftermath of what Lowe and Wilde did in the season prior to that. And the thing which worries me more is he was talking for after last weekend when we lost to Wolves and said we were in a good position with 16 points from 17 games. We were 1 point out of the relegation zone......They obviously waited for a good result to post the news, and once posted simply blamed it elsewhere. These two people are the worst thing to happen to this club and the fact they are so out of touch with reality is shocking. LOWE AND WILDE OUT
  25. In HMV they are around £25. If you buy online then they are between about £17-£20. Again twice the price almost of standard DVD's. I have around 20 Blu-Ray films.
