Were they actually trying to get rid of him? My recollection is that they initially tried to avoid losing him over the incident. That said, I didn't follow the story particularly closely. I did think at the time that his remarks were crass for somebody so firmly in the public eye, but I hope he now recovers quickly.

I genuinely cannot remember the last time I could honestly say that about a PL game. The closest I can recall was last season at home to Chelsea when we were 2-0 with 25 mins left, I was confident of 3 points and a sudden leap away from trouble at that stage.
