I'm struggling to see what more May could possibly have done with the hand she was dealt. For all the criticism fired at her, the only realistic alternative to her deal I've heard is to simply abandon the idea of leaving, which just isn't doable politically however strongly you might feel about the EU or our place inside or outside of it. I suppose a customs union could be a possible way out, but how that would get past the electorate is anybodys guess. To all those carping about how dreadful she's been, I'd just ask what else could she have done to square the unsquareable circle, because that's what it is.

Not a great season for various reasons, imo. That's not just with my saints hat on, but there is something fundamentally wrong with a league where 2nd/3rd place are separated by 25 points and 6th/7th by 11 points. Can't see that changing any time soon, the big boys really didn't take kindly to Leicester spoiling their cartel at all, did they....

If citeh don't win tonight, I think we can safely assume that the title race is over.

For one delicious moment, I read that as Tommy Robinson. But why anyone would consider Tony's political opinions sufficiently valuable to discuss via social media is beyond me.

Would indeed be karma.

Oh well. Not many positives there, but good to see Lemina back.

We can but hope. However, citeh have spurs and utd to come, so it's a huge ask.

Cunts Corner  Surprisingly, there's a similar level of debate on there to this forum.

From another site; Verhofstadt mockingly told JRM to, "be careful what you wish for". The six month extension gives the Tories the time to oust Mrs May and replace her with a PM more in tune with the majority of the electorate's mandate. Mrs May was aware of this and was one of the reasons why she wanted a short delay. There is also another power play going on in Europe. With Mrs Merkel now a lame duck Chancellor, Macron and France find themselves positioned to be the senior partner in the EU sandpit hence Macron's moves to kick the UK out early rather than later. ...and this... To see the UK crippled and a laughing stock but still in the EU will suit Macron's purposes very well. So far as I can see our MPs of all parties have managed to create a situation where there is no way out of the impasse. The harsh truth is that it is too late. The Uk no longer exists as a viable state.

Very good

I think that happened by about page 3 of this thread, tbh. I'm pretty much neutral on the remain v leave argument, (I've always said remaining would mean more money in our pockets while leaving would give us at least the possibility of retaining or regaining a greater level of autonomy, both of which are worthy of sensible discussion,) and in its early days there was some reasonably intelligent and informative/informed debate on here. But it descended rapidly into a laughable internet cock-waving contest, mainly I have to say fuelled by the remainers on here howling in impotent fury over a battle that was lost more than two years ago. It's gone beyond parody and it's hardly surprising so few posters are bothering with it any longer. I only bothered myself in the early hours of this morning because I couldn't sleep and wanted to bore myself into unconsciousness.

I imagine most of them are as tired as I am of this interminably boring remainer circle-jerk. You crack on lads, if only you'd all been as smugly eloquent two and a half years ago you wouldn't be trying vainly for a best of three rerun now.
-
By election? Are the tories going to have him killed? (tbh, it wouldn't amaze me if he got Kelly'd.)
-
Quite. The result was a pretty seismic shock, especially considering the overwhelming media coverage of a foregone conclusion in Remain's favour. I don't remember anybody seriously suggesting that a leave vote was likely, or even conceivable.
-
They know exactly what they want, it's just happens that it doesn't tally with the referendum decision. MPs of most parties were overwhelmingly pro-remain, very few of them are working to deliver brexit because they want to, they're only doing it because the electorate told them to. They certainly don't believe in it.

There's been some carping on here, but I'm pleased for him and think he deserved his international call-up. I've enjoyed watching him play since Ralph changed his approach, fair play to him.
-
True enough. I didn’t say I thought another referendum would (or should) happen, just that if it did I think the outcome would be broadly similar. Incidentally, if LGTL's assertion that the 52% who voted out are in fear of a rerun was accurate, well they wouldn't actually have any need to be worried, would they
-
Personally, I very much doubt that. I'd say attitudes on both sides have hardened, and the result of another referendum would be similar to its predecessor.

Hopefully, barca or real will whisk them away to pastures new amid the wailing and gnashing of scouse teeth.

I didn't know David Brent was a saints fan.....

This is a quandary I've been struggling with, and I've reached the conclusion that for the first time I can remember I'd be very happy to see the victims win.
-
Isn’t that partly due to the top 6 or seven pulling farther away from the rest? Fewer points left to go around below that section of the table?

This, absolutely. I thought we were terrific today and robbed blind by the ref.
