Given that it hasn't taken place yet, so is everything else that's been said regarding the effects of brexit after it happens. It's an interesting piece though, because O'Neill is firmly in the remain camp but pointing out that the effects of brexit probably won't be particularly significant either way; it's nice to see a bit of context put out there instead of the usual incessant tub-thumping and doom-mongering.

Not really, no. He's commenting on another prediction regarding global growth, and saying that if it's accurate then the effects of brexit will be less relevant than he'd expected. He also seems to be trying to put the effects into context, which is laudable given the wildly exaggerated prophecies of the impending economic stone age/golden years proclaimed by each side of the argument.

Looks like being a quite respectable defeat. I'm still expecting us to lose this.

We seem to have players supporting the forwards, am I watching the right stream?
-
...like Puel. I mean, what's he done since we sacked him?
-
He might keep us up. There is absolutely no certainty of that. If staying up is the only target at the moment and we aren't looking for a long term manager, just one to keep us up, I'd go with hughes myself until the end of the season. Then start looking for a long term replacement.

Time for their afternoon nap. -
Breaking News....Officially in a relegation battle

Quite. We didn't exactly muscle our way to the front of the queue, who is actually left that could improve us quickly enough to avert the seemingly inevitable? And would be up for coming here? -
That's bad, even by my standards.

I think you'll find that Paul Mitchell took it to spurs with him. -
I don't think protests work/I'm not interested in them.

That's very true. The only manager I can ever remember actually resigning simply on the grounds that he wasn't up to the job was Keegan, although I suppose there must have been others. -

It also assumes that we are able to sign any players likely to improve us immediately. Given that we're flirting with relegation to the point of underwear removal, I can't see any decent prospect coming here for anything but ridiculous money. -
iirc, that's one reason for Boufal finally getting a starting place in the team.

........and they say sportsmanship is dead.....

Fixed.

Yes, exactly like that.

If there's any substance to this then it's farcical. Every time he plays he makes so many sharp, clever, incisive runs just crying out for someone with a bit of vision to play him in like Tadic did when Gabi first arrived, and he was scoring for fun as a consequence. Now we've changed to a "let's not score" policy he isn't getting those passes and any player like him will struggle to score. When he has scored this season it's mainly been when he's created the chance himself. Would be ridiculous to get rid, he was an excellent signing if played to his strengths.

"drop their bundle", lol, is that an aussie phrase?

Very sad news. As others have said, he played when, shamefully, racism was almost seen as the norm. What a player to achieve what he did in the face of that sort of abuse. RIP.

Could today have been any worse? Bournemouth beat gunners to leapfrog us, down to dalek territory, and the f*cking scousers turn over citeh. FFS.

Plenty were changed, if you assume that the ref wouldn't have consulted the linos unless he'd been mobbed (which fergusons teams had clearly been coached to do.) Plenty more were prevented in the first place by the backlash refs knew they were going to get over any 50/50 decisions not going the "right" way. And don't try and pretend that the fergie wrist-tapping didn't have an effect on refs, he was nearly always acknowledged by them when he did it and the time early always got added. Sides like Saints mob the ref, they get carded like Cedric yesterday. Which is why we don't usually do it.

That's quite optimistic compared to most other posts on here.

Fully expecting a comprehensive demolition job next Sunday, and we won't be wielding the ball and chain.

That's interesting, because I wanted us to stay in, with the proviso that we had already gone as far into the union as we were going to and that our status quo would prevail. My fear was always that we would simply become further integrated into a huge project in which our own elected representatives could only ever have a minimal say. And fwiw, I reckon Corbyn would have been just the ticket in that respect.
