Luck - "It evens itself out over the season..."
scotty replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
When ian wright said of the du couré handball that saints would be especially hard done by if we should happen to get relegated by two points, I remember thinking "thats what's going to happen." -
The VVD saga struck me as being part of the policy to try and get away from the constant player sales, which started with tying all the key players to long term contracts. The board were obviously trying to move us away from the general perception of us being a "selling club", and to retain a nucleus of players in an effort to generate some cohesion. It seems to have backfired spectacularly, but we all welcomed it at the time, iirc.

They got a point from the runaway best team in the country.
-
Let's worry about that once we've got the formality of beating Swansea out of the way first, eh?
-
Last week, Alex Ferguson was nice to Arsene Wenger. Now he's had a brain haemorrhage. Coincidence? I think not.
-
And they aren't already down either, because of our crapness. Etc.
-
He's going to want to go out on a bit of a high note. So, cue a Hudds win. I'm honestly not expecting any favours from the sides we need them from, it's not that kind of season.
-
They'd have cared more if we'd been foolish enough to have joined the eurozone, tbh.
-
It's not as simple as just saying it was all about immigration. Border control is only one of the issues tied up in full integration, along with fiscal and legal issues, not to mention the inevitability of the single currency had we continued down that path. It's a cop-out to reduce the result to one single issue which happens to have been squealed about by the gutter media more loudly than anything else, and pretty insulting to the 55% of voters who decided we're better off out of it. You could equally deride the remain side for being a single issue flock of sheep who tried to give away our sovereignty for a few more short term euros in their own pockets, the reality is that both sides had multiple reasons for voting the way they did.
-
If you believe that, then given the referendum result you must by definition believe that a majority of the voting population of the UK is fundamentally racist. It's possible, but I don't accept it myself. My own view is that the vote was primarily about whether or not we continued along the road towards ever further integration into a european superstate superceding national interests, which is the aim of the project. Some countries are happy with that, the UK clearly isn't.

The anti immigration lobby were certainly the loudest ones shouting, but I'd agree with batman on this one. I don't personally think it was the primary motivation for the result.
-
Seems about right to me.

I'd have said the response to his post wasn't so much a display of internet hard men as a swf version of Grumpy Old Men. And I count myself in that group, at least as far as the facebook generation is concerned.

Nobody forced the guy to post his video on here and get the 100% inevitable slating he duly received.
-
Spot on. We've been far too nice this season, we got away with it previously because we had a better squad of players. We're not good enough to get away with "nice" nowadays.
-
While I agree with the sentiment, not many of their current players (or ours) will have been alive to witness that travesty.
-
Thanks. Worse than I'd hoped, but better than I'd feared then.
-
Just in from work, game going well?

"Selling us a pup"...... not the happiest of terms to use where Korea is concerned.
-
I honestly can't see why you'd include cedric in that list. He's an erratic player quality wise, but you can't fault his effort.
-
Well, we've played in portsmouth and survived.
-
Good save.

FFS.

.....and there we go.
