  1. Willy C was my MoM - that save from Small's header very early on was especially memorable. Also thought the referee handled the game very well.
  2. Remind me as I can't for the life of me remember ... who else were relegated to League One that season? 😉
  3. One of his penalties hit the crossbar in a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53283289
  4. Good question - the 9pm start appears to be correct but surely it can't be. If so, this is rather worrying as we would then be second choice after the Sudan v Guinea-Bissau fixture at the AFCON which is scheduled for not one but two of the Sky Sports channels. Nice to know where we stand. Oh would some power the giftie gie us To see ourselves as others see us
  5. A heroic performance from our boys. Brilliant. Well done.
  6. Happy days. See the assault on the keeper from 1:35.
  7. A little like our disallowed goal in the FA Cup semifinal against Chelsea a few years ago. As you say, a foul every time. From 3:05 - Chelsea v Saints FA Cup semifinal
  8. Wonderful backs-to-the-wall performance. Well played Yan Valery playing as makeshift centre-back, well done KWP for some heroic blocking, well done Jan Benarek ... well done everyone. For those who moaned and groaned when the team selection was announced, have a bit more faith next time.
  9. The two most vociferous of whom were the two ‘Chelsea’ lads, Tino and Borja. Perhaps they can teach our home grown players to be a bit more demanding.
  10. Well done to our lads. Great result, showing great character to take back the lead after conceding - not once but twice. Wonderful stuff.
  11. There was also an excellent performance from the 12th man - our fans. Palace fans at Selhurst Park has a fully justified reputation for being noisy yet our band of travelling supporters were equally loud. Even the tv commentators mentioned this several times. Well done and thank you to all who were there.
  12. I don’t understand the criticism Shane Long has received for tonight’s cameo. He didn’t do much wrong in the 20 or so minutes he had. True, he didn’t score a hat-trick nor did he lay on a couple of assists but he held the ball up, draw a few fouls, had a header on target and did the job he was expected to do.
  13. The suggestion (Diallo instead of AA) was discussed on the ferry south and the conclusion was the same as yours above - us fans would have expected to continue to seek a second goal rather than take the negative route and play out for a 1-0 win. But since that didn’t work out, perhaps we might try the more negative approach next time.
  14. Was this a wise substitution? A like-for-like substitution when we are 1-0 up with 10 minutes to play? Why not shore up the midfield or defence? Diablo maybe?
  15. It is being reported as a cardiac arrest and not a heart attack. https://www.heart.org/en/health-topics/heart-attack/about-heart-attacks/heart-attack-or-sudden-cardiac-arrest-how-are-they-different
  16. I guess I am a bit old-fashioned but isn't winning 20-0 a bit, well ... impolite ?
  17. V Aston Villa 22 Feb 2020 ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHDSvJK5kpg
  18. Watching the Liverpool v A C Milan game and the commentator is saying how Sadie Mane has scored 99 goals for Liverpool. But has he? soccerbase.com tells us at least 21 of these were scored when he was with Southampton (plus another 3 in the League Cup) https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=67510
  19. www.soccerbase.com gives attendances - Everton = 38,487; Manchester Unites = 29,485; Newport = 7,002 and Newcastle 44,017. No figure is given for the West Ham game on Saturday.
  20. The score may have been 0-0 and no doubt the media tonight and tomorrow will be all about Ronaldo and Lukaku but we all witnessed a thoroughly entertaining game of football today. End-to-end, ding-dong stuff. A tiny bit frustrating we didn’t get the win but delighted with the clean sheet and the play from our newcomers; Perraud, Tino and Broja all looked good and Armstrong had a thankless task and needed more support upfront. Well done to both teams for putting on a cracking display.
  21. Given that some on here see the Pogba/Neves incident as a clear foul and others as no foul at all, the only thing one can conclude is how difficult it must be to referee a football match.
  22. In those final 15 minutes or so, at no time did it fell like the Alamo. It might have felt like we were holding on for a point but I suspect United fans were hoping like heck we didn’t score a second. We were composed, at times even slightly cheeky, and United were not peppering our goal and giving us a hard time.
  23. Very well done to our boys fantastic point.
  24. My ST has just come fluttering through my letter box.
  25. I, too, have this information buried away on my account. It wasn’t an easy find.
