Unbeaten for 3 games! When did this last happen?!

Overall that sounded disappointing - we need to tighten up in all departments and get some more shots in on target.

A draw looks possible but maybe we migth win away again.

Tony 'liability' Knapp led Saints to their first ever promotion to the top flight and Jim 'very average' Steele was critical in winning the FAC Cup!

Yes you're right that Cliff Huxford played left half in the days before we had centre backs - Knapp of course was centre half (and I might add I helped to chair him off at Leyton Orient the night we won promotion - I was 15!). But I would like to include him as he substituted at centre half on occasions, did very well and was a fantastic tackler, (and also deputised in goal a few times!). My point about this greatest team is that there were exceptionally good players before the 1970s - which is before many people on here are likely to have seen Saints. We didn't even talk about centre backs before then either.

Of course this matters because it speaks volumes about the sort of people running the club. Winning the FA Cup is Saints greatest moment - bar none. I was there when we came second in the top division but winning the Cup was the best we have got. To replace a picture symbolising that with the picture of a train (and I like steam trains) - well you could not make it up!

I would support Tony Knapp and Jim Steele. Or possibly Cliff Huxford and Mel Blyth. However,you really do need to rename this as the greatest Saints team in the last 20 years!! Our history is a bit longer than that.

Given this limited choice, i would have voted for David Peach if i had been given a chance - by the time i opened this up the voting had closed!

Where is Tommy Traynor? His omission is ridiculous!

Thank you Ladysaint for posting some positive encouraging news about our team - it's a shame a few more posters don't follow your example! I still think this side will come good - come on you saints!

We are very poor at corners and have been for many years - with the exception of when the great MLT took them. I do wonder what goes on in practice - do we ever practice corners free kicks, or indeed shooting??

Does all this bickering really help at all? We are where we are - the club has clearly been badly run for some time but we have to move on and try to sort things out as best we can. We simply have to rely on lower paid players. How many on here were calling for more signings over the last few years - it is the wages for some of these have got us where we are. It's time to look forwards.

yes disappointing - but at least we didn't lose - I think our boys are developing and they were not bullied into submission by Plymouth but held their own and shoudl really have won. Maybe this is a sign of progress.

I was there and as i remember it was 9-3 with about 25 minutes still to go with the whole crowd chanting 'we want ten'! Those were the days, my friend!
