I was supportive of lowe's decision to radically reduce costs when he returned. which didn't mean that i am a 'lowe-luvvy'. the club would be better served if he f@cked off and never darkened our doorstep again. but he was correct to cut out the fat. however, loaning the only player we have who knows how to consistently score goals is not cutting fat it is cutting deep into the muscle tissue and bones. Absolutely appaling decision. Lowe, you are a ***t. And i bet he is still drawing a fat salary. if he didn't get his salary then there would be money available to pay stern. I am happy to retract these comments if someone can prove that Lowe is doing the job for free but i think we all know he is not. If he really cared about the club he would for go his salary. He is just a money-grubbing little sh!t.

We will be in administration by end of season

Yes it would be quite exciting to see only local lads play, and only for the treat of an orange at half time. Not sure about losing the stadium though. Could always play on the common i guess. Save cash and not bother with goal posts as well. A couple of coats or jumpers at each end should do the trick. -
spiderman's not english. he is a frog

I completely agree. I try not to think about it as my doctor says I shouldn't let my blood pressure get too high.

We will be in administration by end of season

yes, it is a possibility. There is going to be one club outside the big four which ceases to be. At the end of the day if a club goes bankrupt and a buyer can not quickly be found then the administrators will sell the assets and wind down the 'business'. It is highly likely that at least one club will fail in this way, especially if the big rich men are feeling the pinch too. in the case of ordinary businesses, a struggling company can get out of trouble by being takenover by a rival. So perhaps we will see footy clubs merge. Not beyond imagination. Perhaps we might have to merge with, say Bournemouth. Not sure if that would be palatable for us fans though. Certainly could never merge with the other bunch. That would be a step too far. bad days ahead for the beautiful game. let's hope that SFC comes out the other side in one piece. -
ok let's say that all the above are sold and we get a total of £8m and let's say they are sold in january with 24 games left in the season (including fa cup) and 12 home games. the over draft might be cleared but the attendence will certainly drop for the remaining games and, although i would always cheer them on, the remaining squad wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell of avoiding relegation. so we would start next season in league one with even fewer coming to the games, a serious reduction in ST renewals and no operating cash. i.e. bankrupt. I'm afraid the only course of action is to get the present squad to start winning games on a frequent basis and get us back to the Prem where we can get our hands on Murdoch's millions. Either that (and it is also highly doubtful that we will get promoted this season) or get a fat oil sheik to buy the club.

So the country is now in a recession and the Governor of the BoE is saying it will last for over a year. The full extent of the credit crunch has not yet hit. Many prominent economists are predicting 3 million unemployed by summer next year and the country has a predicted £125,000,000,000 short fall in its budget. National debt has gone through the roof and taxes will - not possibly, WILL - have to rise in the coming years to pay for it all. And in all this our football club can't even afford to pay Stern's appearance fees and atendance is significantly down on last year. As the recession bites, taxes go up, jobs are harder to find and the lads don't score goals we will see the attendance at SMS drop further still. I can see no way - save for a takeover - of the club being able to remain solvent at the end of the season. Sorry to be blunt about this but Southampton FC is broke and out of luck. I hate being pessimistic about my club. I love this club, but facts are facts: we are royally buggered. Christ, we have cut all the fat out and are now having to loan out our most experienced player because we can't afford him! I also don't think we will be the only club going bankrupt before long. Football is going to have to face up to some very stark realities in the near future. I'm going to cry now.

I don't f@cking believe it. Stern off to Bristol. Just when we need an experienced striker. God almighty what a f@cking idiotic decision. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I really don't.

All Premiership games may be cancelled this weekend owing to an irregular betting pattern occurring. Someone has actually put a fiver on Spurs to win! Made me chuckle!!! :D:D:D:D

I'm happy with a point tonight. Feel sorry for the guys who went to see it though. goal less is never a spectacle but a point is a point as they say. sounds as though they defended really well. and kelvin made three or four really good saves which kept us in the game. well done lads!

The who's going to Sheffield Utd thread

can't afford the time off work this time. missed a day's work on saturday to go to the watford game. i'll be there in spirit though. -
come off it! it is only october, we are only a quarter way through the season with 35 games left to play and we are only 4 points off being in the exact middle of the table! Give the lads a chance at least! things aren't THAT bad.
-
i reckon we will come back strong tonight. mind you, chef-eeled will be hurting after getting beat by wednesday so will come out fighting. i predict that we will go in at half time 0-1 to the good, concede directly after half time, battle through to the last ten minutes at 1-1 and then Kelvin will punt one up field in the 92 minute catching their keeper off his line and bagging the three points for the Saints. ;)
