According to the majority on here, we only have one game left to play for this season.
-
Lost them then.
-
No one turning up for it would be a great help !

" Now that they,ve got the lead, can they go on and keep a clean sheet ? ".Usually not Dave but don,t give up saying it.

Whats going on with the whole Saga on the bench thing?
hackedoff replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Nobody wants to buy him and he,s on high wages. Only two options open - 1 Released from contract by mutual consent. 2 Stay, play do what he,s paid for and benefit the club and/or attract a buyer. -
How about the new MacDougall and Boyer ?

We need an 'old head' in midfield who can provide a link to the strikers

Agree with your final comments and your analysis of the Charlton/BR games, however you cannot use these examples and disregard the poor results. In both the Norwich games we were second best for large parts of the game and in both cases were fortunate to get results. In the two home games since xmas, against ( for most part )10 man Exeter and non league Luton, the midfield did not in any way dominate. In response to the thread title, I would gladly swap ANY of our young midfielders for a 30 year old Alan Ball or Jimmy Case. -

MK Dons being the ONLY decent team that we have beaten this season thus far. Until we get a decent dominating midfield together I will stand by my comment about staying in this league. If we cannot match the Huddersfields and Colchesters of this league, then forget matching the Leeds and Norwich,s . We can have the best strikers, keeper and change the defence all we like but this midfield neither supports the attack nor protects the defence to a degree where we can beat the BETTER teams in this league. -

Put it this way, until we get a midfield player that can do the Case, Ball,Bremner,Ince etc type job ( or something near it )we,re going to remain in this league. -
AP during the week " The play-offs are now a real target ". Then sends his team out to try and get one point.
-
You can see it , I can see it . Pity Pardew cant

If anyone wants to know why we wont make the playoffs, than this game will explain. We got the point that was the only objective at 3pm so forget about what happened in the last minute. Another away game played in a negative fashion with a strange staring line-up just like the games at Leeds and Colchester, so I suppose a point is an improvement. Pardew has been saying this week that the playoffs are a target, if so why play so negative against the better teams in this league? We are no worse than Norwich IMO but they go into every game trying to win. Colchester are crap but effective in what they do,Norwich go there in a positive frame, score a couple of goals and Colchester fall apart because their game plan is shot and they have no plan B....... simple. We are still only a mid table side, like it or not and if someone still wonders why we always conceed then look at our midfield rather than defence.

Are people aware that one of football,s most colourful characters,John ( Portsmouth FC ) Westwood will be visiting SMS this coming Saturday. Hoping to highlight the plight of Portsmouth and as it,s the season of good will, he will be collecting money from neighbouring club supporters to help pay the Pompey wage bill. Dressed in his full Pompey attire,he will be available to pose with rival fans for a small fee - (form an orderly queue ladies ). John will be by the Ted Bate,s statue from 12pm up to kick-off for anyone interested in fund raising or for a general chat about all things PFC.
-
I tend to agree with you,I just cant see why people rave about him. There is no end product with him as sixty-plus games without a goal proves, also tends to foul more than completes a good tackle. Cant score, doesnt protect the back four. With Hammond and Lallana you know that they will perform a certain role,Schneiderlin does neither.Just my opinion of course.

Antonio.............. George Lawrence,Steve Baker and Ali Dia all rolled into one.

Lens call for potless Pompey to be shut down
hackedoff replied to hottubsaint's topic in General Sports
I,am keeping a pair of rubber pants close to hand, which in the event of Pompey going "belly - up " I can pull on prior to p1ssing myself with laughter. -
And they had the nerve to build their new stadium in a crappy, industrial end of town !
-
And if we do reach the play-offs,we will be up against the likes of Colchester, the type of side we do not seem to know how to beat.
-
If we had another 45 minutes we would have won this, but alas for the second away game running the first half was wasted on the wrong formation/players and being too negative. Do not ever start with Antonio, he is a second half impact plyer only.

Do we still see ourselves as a Big Club when it comes to the FA Cup?
hackedoff replied to ozzmeister's topic in The Saints
Not sure what I want from cup draws now, a small side in order to progress, but not make much money from it,or a big team away, lose but make a bit. Do we need the money from say Man U away now or just get as far as we can for the fun of it ? -
Do whatever you want, but remember that one day you might p1ss the wrong person off by doing it.
-
Not the type of player that ever seems to do well at Saints.
